@viciousdawg He has 11 players from Florida on his roster at Wisconsin. All the talk about not recruiting the south is ridiculous. On top of that, he had to get players to come from the nice weather south, to the dreadful Wisconsin. Not where everyone wants to be in the winter. He also has 4 players from Texas and 1 from Texarkana. Funny how he can't get anyone from the south.
@badbadhoggie The guy is a great coach. come on. seriously. Like Muschamp, Mullen, and Strong. You can even go back to Bob Stoops at Florida. The guy is on that level and all are great head coaches. It doesn't take rocket science to know Kirby Smart is a genius, but I should not have to even say that.
Congrats Tennessee fans on your hire of Derek Dooley...............uh, I mean Butch Jones. I think you guys had the chance to take Kirby Smart and bring back that big orange crush D. But best of luck with the second coming of Dooley 2. I've seen so many Vols fans that are ticked off on twitter and I don't blame them. This is a guy who looked like he would have a job with Kentucky or Colorado. Wow.

I think I would go take my chances with Kirby Smart, before Butch Jones. I thought Larry Fedora would come to UT, but he turned down Tennessee (sorry about the bad twitter joke) earlier. I think if you hire Kirby Smart, you can work on that D. And lets face it, that's where the Vols need to get better.
@Fayettechill14 that's just wrong. Bo Pelini is a nut. I would stay away from him. I think Butch Jones or Larry Fedora is who UT should go after. I would be shocked to see both of them turn Tennessee down. And no..........that's not a twitter joke from last night.
hearing today from several places that the SEC is seriously after UNC/DUKE. That would be huge to have those two with UK in the same conference. I honestly don't know if they would leave though. They are the face of the ACC. It looks like the BIG is serious about Georgia Tech at 15, but might be trying to add Notre Dame as a 16th.
Another thing I would watch out for is guys like Bo Pelini. I think the guy is a nut case anyway. But I think someone like him is trying to play UT for a raise. I can speak to that with Les Miles and us. Maybe the same thing for talking with Petersen.
I know UT fans might not want to hear this, but I would hire Larry Fedora today. You might say, he's not a big named coach. So what. The guy was amazing at Southern Miss. The year after he left, they didn't win a game. He went into UNC on his first year, cleaning up the Butch Davis/NCAA mess and went 8-4. UT doesn't deserve to be down on the level of Kentucky. The coaching decision is to important to hire another Dooley(something I never got from the start). Tennessee fans, you guys should get behind Larry Fedora.
wow. So now it's offical that Stong turned down UT. Per Finebaum and others, this is the list that has turned down UT: Gundy, Gruden, Strong, Golden, and Kirby Smart.
The word today is Georgia Tech has been approved by the BIG Ten conference as number 15 and could be official as early as Monday. Acc Champ. game on saturday, would make it wait until Monday at least. If that does become official, you figure the BIG Ten will go for 16. Unless they try and wait and see if the SEC would move in and cause Notre Dame to go full time in a conference. I know the BIG has wanted Notre Dame for a long time and it wouldn't shock me if that ends up being the case.
well, Petersen and Pelini both have games this Saturday. Those are the only two names I've seen linked to the job.
I've heard several Big Texas people today say that the BIg 12 is watching the Maryland situation to see what they will pay. They would love to get back at 12 with some combo of FSU/Miami/Clemson. Fox wants 2 of the 3 big names and is willing to put up big $$$ for that and a CCG. ESPN doesn't care, because those ACC schools are already being paid in the ACC contract from ESPN. It should be fun to watch. They also say they expect the BIG to make the next move and add UVA and Georgia Tech and get to 16.
@John at MrSEC Sorry if it sounded like it came off on you John. It didn't. Everyone in the media wants to blame Petrino for the problems of Arkansas, like everyone wanted to blame George W Bush for the problems when he was in office. As my friend at OSU said, sometimes you have to be a man and be 40. lol. You have to stand up and take credit for your actions. I mean, will Arkansas point the finger at Petrino ten years from now if they don't get things turned around? That's not acceptable to me. Arkansas needs to stop throwing the blame on Petrino. Arkansas has a lot of starters back from last season on both sides of the ball. Did they forget how to play football since last season? I don't know. Is John L Smith a joke? The videos are enough evidence imo. When you can make a movie from all the crazy, off the wall videos he has over the years, it doesn't say much.
I'm sick of people saying it's Bobby Petrino's fault for John L SMith. Bobby Petrino didn't hire John L Smith as the replacement coach. Jeff Long did. If you look at it, Jeff Long has now hired Bobby Petrino and this Clown. I don't know who's worse. I have to wonder about Jeff Long's decision again to leave him as coach. As bad as the football team is playing and on D (giving up) it's not even as bad as John L Smith in front of a camera. I can tell you this much, Frank Broyles wouldn't have put up with this crap.
i've got no problem calling for John L Smith to be fired. Not because they lost 52-0 to Alabama and got beat by a sun belt team before that. When a coach says I don't know what to tell them and has nothing to say after a game, it shows a lack of leadership. A lot of michigan state fans would've already said this. And a lot did to Arkansas fans. But to leave a game early, forget that. They should stay until the end. If the fans quit, what does that say to the KIDS playing in the game.
