@bpa_kc I don't know if his style will work in the SEC. It worked great for the Big 12. Time will tell.

@GatorBuc2 I agree. Unlike Missouri. I hope the Big Ten decides to expand soon and Missouri goes where they belong. They just don't even come close to being an sec fit.

@viciousdawg He has 11 players from Florida on his roster at Wisconsin. All the talk about not recruiting the south is ridiculous. On top of that, he had to get players to come from the nice weather south, to the dreadful Wisconsin. Not where everyone wants to be in the winter. He also has 4 players from Texas and 1 from Texarkana. Funny how he can't get anyone from the south.
@badbadhoggie The guy is a great coach. come on. seriously. Like Muschamp, Mullen, and Strong. You can even go back to Bob Stoops at Florida. The guy is on that level and all are great head coaches. It doesn't take rocket science to know Kirby Smart is a genius, but I should not have to even say that.
2 years, 1 month ago on December 7th A Date Which Will Live In Infamy For Vols?
Congrats Tennessee fans on your hire of Derek Dooley...............uh, I mean Butch Jones. I think you guys had the chance to take Kirby Smart and bring back that big orange crush D. But best of luck with the second coming of Dooley 2. I've seen so many Vols fans that are ticked off on twitter and I don't blame them. This is a guy who looked like he would have a job with Kentucky or Colorado. Wow.
@winnerjim @david1314 Look at his record v.s top 25.
2 years, 1 month ago on Report: Jones Emerges As ‘Front Runner’ For UT Job
Derek Dooley is the worst coach statistically in Tennessee football history & beat Butch Jones by 3 TDs with the worst team in TN history
new reports have Bo Pelini wanting the job. I'm not sure how UT would feel about him.
@winnerjim @david1314 Please. That comment is just ridiculous. Strong has 2 national titles as a DC and built up Louisville into a multi year Big East champ.
I think I would go take my chances with Kirby Smart, before Butch Jones. I thought Larry Fedora would come to UT, but he turned down Tennessee (sorry about the bad twitter joke) earlier. I think if you hire Kirby Smart, you can work on that D. And lets face it, that's where the Vols need to get better.
@Fayettechill14 that's just wrong. Bo Pelini is a nut. I would stay away from him. I think Butch Jones or Larry Fedora is who UT should go after. I would be shocked to see both of them turn Tennessee down. And no..........that's not a twitter joke from last night.
2 years, 1 month ago on What Next, Tennessee?
hearing today from several places that the SEC is seriously after UNC/DUKE. That would be huge to have those two with UK in the same conference. I honestly don't know if they would leave though. They are the face of the ACC. It looks like the BIG is serious about Georgia Tech at 15, but might be trying to add Notre Dame as a 16th.
2 years, 1 month ago on ACC Seeks To Quell Rumors
Another thing I would watch out for is guys like Bo Pelini. I think the guy is a nut case anyway. But I think someone like him is trying to play UT for a raise. I can speak to that with Les Miles and us. Maybe the same thing for talking with Petersen.
I know UT fans might not want to hear this, but I would hire Larry Fedora today. You might say, he's not a big named coach. So what. The guy was amazing at Southern Miss. The year after he left, they didn't win a game. He went into UNC on his first year, cleaning up the Butch Davis/NCAA mess and went 8-4. UT doesn't deserve to be down on the level of Kentucky. The coaching decision is to important to hire another Dooley(something I never got from the start). Tennessee fans, you guys should get behind Larry Fedora.
wow. So now it's offical that Stong turned down UT. Per Finebaum and others, this is the list that has turned down UT: Gundy, Gruden, Strong, Golden, and Kirby Smart.
2 years, 1 month ago on Strong Still Mulling UT, Louisville Offers... Or Is He?
The word today is Georgia Tech has been approved by the BIG Ten conference as number 15 and could be official as early as Monday. Acc Champ. game on saturday, would make it wait until Monday at least. If that does become official, you figure the BIG Ten will go for 16. Unless they try and wait and see if the SEC would move in and cause Notre Dame to go full time in a conference. I know the BIG has wanted Notre Dame for a long time and it wouldn't shock me if that ends up being the case.
2 years, 2 months ago on Slive On Expansion: “I Would Never Say Never”
well, Petersen and Pelini both have games this Saturday. Those are the only two names I've seen linked to the job.
2 years, 2 months ago on Les Miles Gets A Raise And A Contract Extension
I've heard several Big Texas people today say that the BIg 12 is watching the Maryland situation to see what they will pay. They would love to get back at 12 with some combo of FSU/Miami/Clemson. Fox wants 2 of the 3 big names and is willing to put up big $$$ for that and a CCG. ESPN doesn't care, because those ACC schools are already being paid in the ACC contract from ESPN. It should be fun to watch. They also say they expect the BIG to make the next move and add UVA and Georgia Tech and get to 16.
2 years, 2 months ago on Louisville To The ACC, But What’s That Aftershock Mean For The SEC?
I'm sick of people saying it's Bobby Petrino's fault for John L SMith. Bobby Petrino didn't hire John L Smith as the replacement coach. Jeff Long did. If you look at it, Jeff Long has now hired Bobby Petrino and this Clown. I don't know who's worse. I have to wonder about Jeff Long's decision again to leave him as coach. As bad as the football team is playing and on D (giving up) it's not even as bad as John L Smith in front of a camera. I can tell you this much, Frank Broyles wouldn't have put up with this crap.
2 years, 4 months ago on Hogs' Smith Needs To Stop Talking
i've got no problem calling for John L Smith to be fired. Not because they lost 52-0 to Alabama and got beat by a sun belt team before that. When a coach says I don't know what to tell them and has nothing to say after a game, it shows a lack of leadership. A lot of michigan state fans would've already said this. And a lot did to Arkansas fans. But to leave a game early, forget that. They should stay until the end. If the fans quit, what does that say to the KIDS playing in the game.

@John at MrSEC @Fayettechill14 If CBS and any other network had the ability to be Synthia Browne and know what each score would be, they would schedule the schools that had the best records each week. That's like saying after you have the winning lottery numbers, I would've gone back and picked those numbers. This might be the dumbest article ever. We can say what if's until we're all blue in the face. THat's why they play the game on the field. Ask Alabama about Louisiana Monroe from 4 years ago. I think they had a similar experience.
Is this John L Smith's daughter? If so, it makes perfect sense.

Real Football, Real Tradition. Hang on...........let me laugh some more. Ok. As a Razorback fan, we're middle of the road in the SEC. Sure, we've had some great years and won or co-won the western division 4 times. We lead the series record with A&M 41–24–3. LSU the other school in the SEC the Aggies have played, not much better. LSU leads 27-20-3. So I'm not sure where the real football and real tradition is. I also believe Texas A&M is 0 for everything since 1996 against sec schools. I sure hope for their sake, that will change this year.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LenfTCVGnvg yeah. I'm not shocked. Just watching the you tube videos they made, says enough. I think A&M is cheaper than some women who walk the streets.
2 years, 5 months ago on Aggies To Put “SEC Country” Billboards Up Across The Lone Star State
@Root_for_the_Cubbies @Joey yeah, again it's not that the acts were being done. If that was the only case, nothing should be done to Penn State. Just the low life that was doing them. But in this case you had all the leaders of a university that was covering them up, to save a reputation of the school. ON top of that, they let him stay on campus and host a kids camp. I mean come on. If you don't find some ethics problems in that(including what leadership is all about) I have to question the mental stability of anyone.
2 years, 6 months ago on The NCAA Is About To Make A Big Mistake With Penn State
it wasn't because a bunch of boys got raped and awful acts were done for a period of decades that caused the ncaa to act. It was because PSU presidents, coaches, exc knew boys were being raped and awful acts were being done, and they decided to cover it up for decades. At that point, the NCAA should come down. If you don't agree, maybe you would not feel the same if you had a bunch of kids that were all raped and everything was covered up because it might hurt the image of the university and program. Who cares about the image of the kids.
@JeremyNabors Ole Miss is down on it's lowest level ever thanks to a Nutt. haha. I told my ole miss friend when you guys hired him, good luck with that. You guys will probably become the next Vandy. Sure enough..................
2 years, 6 months ago on LSU Now A “King”, UT Just A “Baron” According To SI.com Writer
@MiloMoon you're right about everything going in cycles. The SEC east use to be the power division. Now you have Bama, LSU, Arkansas, and Auburn in the west, who are all top ten programs. It's just how these things work.
@MiloMoon I think the problem for UT is the coach. None of the players respect him. Even seniors last season that these guys stopped playing at the end of the season. It's a very dangerous situation when you have that going on. It makes me wonder if UT can get it turned around, without a new coach in Knoxville.
@Mosnowman I didn't say he we didn't get beat fairly. I just said the truth. Houston Nutt left after the LSU win. I guess you should check with some people who know SEC football on that one. It's also true that the big 3 played very little in the 3rd qt. and not at all in the 4th. As for all your games, I could care less about games in the 60's. If you have to go to the nursing home or the grave to channel up your grandpa and ask him about those games, I could care less. Kind of like Mizzou football. I hope you guys will put more fans in the stands and care more in the sec, than what you do for number one Oklahoma.
2 years, 6 months ago on Was The SEC, Missouri, And Texas A&M Union A Smart Move?
@John at MrSEC @redscribe66 lol. I've never seen John say that WVU has an awful program. If I was a WVU fan, I would be proud of your 3 BCS bowl wins. THat got you into the Big12. You can look at the results and can easily make the argument that the Big 12 is the second best conference in college football. It got you out of a conference that means nothing in the landscape of things. So I would be happy if I was a WVU fan.
2 years, 7 months ago on Was The SEC, Missouri, And Texas A&M Union A Smart Move?
@Mosnowman @JamieThornton yes to both. Arkansas lost it's coach after the LSU game and he wasn't even around for the game. None of the big 3 even played in the 4th quarter. As far as recruiting, Arkansas has never been big in recruiting. I know you're new to the sec, but you can ask John. He puts up the numbers. At best, Arkansas is average in big recruits. On top of that, the kid (DGB) is from Missouri. It's not like he was from Arkansas and chose you over us. So yes, I'm still yawning. I was also yawning when two years before the cotton bowl, we destroyed you guys in the Indy bowl with Matt Jones. I don't know anyone who claims Arkansas would win the national title. Does Arkansas have a chance at it? SUre. It's still the same to me. SOrry. Missouri makes me yawn. You guys can't even sell out a game for Oklahmoa? Missouri fans don't even get excited about Missouri football? Yawn, yawn, and yawn. Most sec fans thought about missouri football? Yawn.
I was to both. Arkansas lost it's coach that and he wasn't even around for the game. None of the big 3 even played in the 4th quarter. As far as recruiting, Arkansas has never been big in recruiting. 2 years, 7 months ago on Missouri And Texas A&M Raise Flags, Celebrate Arrival In SEC
@House77 lol. It depends on what part of Arkansas you talk about. I think from Little Rock over to Memphis, most people think that's part of the south. When you start talking the western part that borders Texas, OKlahoma and Southwest missouri, they feel midwest. It's what it is. LSU and Texas A&M have always been big Arkansas rivals. THat's the way it will stay.
that's cool. all of us at the arkansas rivals board could still care less about Mizzou. We're not even in the same division. Believe it or not, not everyone in Arkansas is a hillbilly. I'm not saying there isn't a bunch. THat's true. But all I do is yawn when it comes to Mizzou still. This points to my problem with having 14. You guys also border Tennessee and Kentucky. THere are 3 sec schools in those states. So the chances that you guys become bigger rivals with one of those schools, is much greater. Until 16 becomes a reality and we share a pod with LSU and TExas A&M(by the way, you can ask any Arkansas fan and they will tell you those two schools are the big rivals for arkansas) THat's why Arkansas fans were going crazy with the talk that LSU Arkansas day after turkeyday game might be replace with A&M/LSU. As for Mike Anderson, that's a larger motivation for Missouri fans. He was at Arkansas under Nolan for years. But best of luck in the sec east. Until things change and go to 16, we will play you like once every 7 years.
I don't think it's a question of, "are they great fits" or "are they great schools". THat's an easy answer. The problem becomes making 14 work. Already schools in the west, only play some of the eastern schools every 3 to 4 years. It's like we're not even in the same conference. And 14 is a very odd number. I think the sec will have to go to 16 soon to make it work. To feel like a conference and go to 4 pods or divisions. That way they can rotate with two schools in the other pods and that will be the best thing for the sec imo. As an Arkansas fan, I'm glad to have our old rival in the Aggies. The weird thing is we've only played Mizzou a few times and it hardly felt like a rivalry. Even now, nobody in Arkansas feels that way. Mizzou is in the sec east and borders kentucky and tennessee. Another reason why the sec needs to get to 4 pods of 16 teams. It's just going to be hard to work, imo.
Just to let the rest of the SEC fans know, the college world series is going on and the sec got 3 schools in it. Two time defending champ South Carolina and Arkansas are still in it.
2 years, 7 months ago on SEC Headlines 6/19/2012
I agree that playing sec teams are not going to keep those ACC schools in the conference. There probably will become an agreement with the SEC/Big 12 during the season. On top of that, why would you want to stay in a conference that cares about basketball and is going to provide a smaller amount of tv revenue v.s the big 12. THat's what this is all about. money. If your Clemson and FSU, what gets you more excited? Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, TCU, WVU exc or Boston College, Duke, Maryland, Syracuse, PItt, Virginia, exc. and if the big 12 goes to 14, you will probably be adding atleast 2 if not 3 your southern acc rivals. So lets say FSU, MIami, Georgia Tech, and Clemson go to the Big 12. I don't think it's a hard choice.
2 years, 8 months ago on Push Begins For Regular-Season Big 12-SEC Games, But SEC-ACC Games May Make More Sense
I was trying to keep from laughing, while reading this article. And it was better than I thought at first. Seriously though. Outside the southern ACC schools (and not all of those), how can those games be better than Big 12 games? I'm just saying. It's not even close. I would love to see a labor day game with Bama v.s Texas. A Trick or Treat special with Oklahoma v.s FLorida. And if these southern ACC schools like Clemson and FSU end up in the BIG 12, you already have the Florida/FSU and South Carolina/CLemson games. Heck, if the Big 12 goes to 14 and adds Georgia Tech, imagine the Georgia/Georgia Tech games. Yeah, nice article, but watching SEC teams play Boston College, Virginia, Maryland, Duke, exc, exc, just makes me yawn.
interesting in all this talk is that the Clemson board of directors (presidents or curators or whatever..........like Missouri and Texas A&M) are meeting thursday to talk about expansion. Looks like one ACC school is ready for the Big 12. I'm sure they've been told be the SEC, no thanks. We're already in your market. So if you're Clemson and you're all about football, you would be crazy not to go to the second best conference. The big question is how big does the Big 12 want to become? We know they always save a spot for Notre Dame. So if it's 12, maybe they take Clemson or not. But I know they will only add one school if that's the case. If 14 is the magic number, they may go ahead and take in Clemson and see what FSU does. But the big question is, what has FSU and Notre Dame become? I mean if this was 15 years ago and the big 12 was adding Notre Dame and FSU, that would be HUGE. But what does it do for you these days?
2 years, 8 months ago on SEC And Expansion/Realignment Headlines - 5/23/12
I would say once Clemson and FSU goes to the Big 12, Virginia Tech and NC STate will probably end up in the SEC. The rest of the ACC schools are basketball schools. So they will probably stay together and raid schools like Louisville and UConn.
