Man. Samsung, with how easy it is to root the GS3 and your awesome timing on your updates I find it hard to imagine buying another HTC or Motorola phone. You guys are my manufacturer of choice going forward. Well that should be obvious with how I've recommended the GS3 to three other people who have gone on to buy them. I seriously know 6 people with GS3's now. Popular phone. It deserves it, it's that good.
You know one of my favorite screens I've ever seen is the SAMOLED+ display on the Epic 4G Touch. Even though it's a low PPI it looks great. So in some instances WVGA is still acceptable to me.
Yeah. I think the test is pretty much BS. The tables could have turned and the iPhone could have been the one landing on its face on the concrete, or having the edge of the beer bottle impacting it instead of how much more optimal its impacts were. If you watch the video again you can see the force of the bottle is distributed into the side of the iPhone because it hits level while the GS3 bottle lands on one corner of the bottle directly on the screen. Not exactly scientific, it's just fun to break stuff. :)
Apple doesn't shake in their boots with news like this. They're too busy patenting letterbox screens. It doesn't matter that they're already on plenty of phones, they made it so the USPTO will grant it. I freaking hate Apple so much...
I've owned many screen sizes from 2.8" QVGA to 3.1" HVGA, 3.2" HVGA, 3.5" HVGA, 3.8" WVGA, 4.0" WVGA, 4.3" WVGA, 4.3" QHD, 4.5" WVGA, & now a 4.8" 720p. I think for my hand size my optimal screen size has been the 4.3" QHD. I liked how wide it was, wide enough to reach all corners of the screen without a lot of hitting the wrong things. However it was too small for my tastes on browsing the internet and daily use. I liked the 4.5" WVGA on the Epic Touch however the resolution was a little low. Webpage text was too large. Now upgrading to my Galaxy S3 the screen is so large that I don't use my 7" or 10" tablets anymore. But when I reach to the opposing top corners I tend to miss what I'm trying to hit. I think my fingers are too short. I think the Galaxy Nexus screen size might be the best, if not some 4.5" 720p screen. So far I'm smitten by my Galaxy S3 though and couldn't imagine using another phone.
I love HTC. Except for their dust leaks on the edges of their screens. I've had to do carrier warranty claims on the EVO 4G, the myTouch 4G, and the Sensation 4G. I love their phones but they really have to step up their quality.
And they're going to call the newest iPhone with the 4.0" screen a high end phone...just watch. It's actually pretty pathetic how far behind on hardware the iconic iPhone has become...
@DanDaniel What blew me away was how many average people I spoke with that really don't want their user interface and user experience changing. A lot of people aren't tech savvy, so changing up their phones software every six months would actually piss a lot of people off. I had to send out a mass email to every android owner I know when I saw the first implementation of the new on screen menu button in Instagram. Because the physical menu button didn't do the same thing as that on screen button. I screen shotted and emailed the new info out because I knew some people wouldn't figure it out right away.
