I think that we should not get too concerned with Westbrook until we actually see him back at full strength...

@MrRaysian Usually it is because of import taxes. A lot of countries have taxes that they place on electronics, in order to help support their home country industries (not that Australia really has a big laptop industry..). I remember when I lived in Africa, whenever someone would try to send me something from the US, i would have to pay a ton on it if it was electronic. I actually refused to pay the import tax on a camera one time, and they sent it back to my parents.

@Tricia Status As a part time Wizard's fan (I live in DC so go to games fairly often), Nick Young makes me mad to just think about. He certainly will shoot it, but I think he is sort of a locker room minus, and he breaks the offense every time he touches the ball.

@lmp5336 @doofUSA To say you "won" or "lost" a trade, sure, hindsight is a fair way to judge it. But when you say that he "traded a young superstar for a few draft picks and an unproven rookie", you are missing a couple of pieces. Presti traded a chance that a young superstar would sign with them at a rate they could stomach, for a few draft picks, and unproven rookie, and some chance that a very good player that fits very well into their system would sign with them at a rate they could stomach.
I am just trying to make the case that it is not really fair to judge the decision making process of a GM through hindsight. To make any decision, you have to make a number of calculations about an unknown future, and they risks involved have to be included in judgement of the decision.
10 months, 3 weeks ago on Kevin Martin on OKC: ‘This is my spot … hopefully’
@doofUSA I think that it is a bit unfair to judge a trade or a draft pick as a miscalculation based on how it eventually turns out. of course presti took into account the fact that martin could walk, but when he made the trade, it was maybe a 30% chance? 50% chance? I dont know. But the point is that he is weighing the potential that he doesnt as part of the calculation.
Just like the like oden over durant. obviously it turned out to be the wrong pick, but it doesnt mean it was miscalculated. It just means that the risk that Portland took didnt go in their favor.
Whenever you make a decision, you assume some risk. looking back with 20 20 hindsight isnt really a fair way to judge things.
@justin_mia @f5alcon Unless we win a championship this year. in that case, even if he walks they got a championship and a better salary situation...
David Stern is just lucky that there is an NHL, so he can avoid the worst commish in sports label. This "substantial sanctions", BS is one of the most annoying and frustrating things Ive heard in a while.
If anyone had any illusions that the goal of a team in the NBA should be to win a championship, this should shatter that. David Stern has just punished a team for trying to be a good as they can. ugh

@Lost Ones Actually, Ibaka if Ibaka keeps hitting that mid range jumper, they are going to have to start covering him more when he moves out, which will help spacing a bit

@ou_sas @El Prez You know, he is someone I pretty much disagree with on everything, but would still think about voting for if I still lived in OK. Stand up guy who actually sticks to principles, not ideological dogma.
Not a lot of those in politics
@PerkPunt @booles Yeah, booles, I think that Perk probably gets more grief than he really deserves. Most of the problem with his perceptions is how he is used. We use him as a first choice, while he would really be more useful as a reaction. If the other team has a big that is going off, we plug Perk in to stop it.
I think he is a good player to have on our team, and not a bad starter because he does set a tone, but is probably over used

i mean. what would he do in an all star game? piss everyone off by trying to play defense?
I can't stop chuckling about Perk being on that list.
@Crow I actually enjoyed it. Obviously it wasn't written for the Thunder faithful, but if you live on the east coast (their readership) it gave a nice view of the thunder and of Oklahoma.

@OBoy Jones III @9th Wonderous Harden (or his agent) wouldn't move from the max. Presti wouldn't pay the max.
Presti traded him when he thought he could get the most for him and do the least damage to the rest of the team.
Seems pretty simple to me. Im really glad we didnt do the whole Orlando/Howard thing.

I think that scout showed why we have done so well in the draft in recent years. Seems to really miss the projections of the future for a number of guys on our team. I think that Ibaka is a better offensive player than he gives him credit for (or at least will be, because there is no way he is at his ceiling). I do agree that ibaka/Perk is not a very strong offensive front court, but we don't actually play them together all that much. At least thats the way it seems. Someone could probably pull up the minutes per line up numbers from last year and prove me wrong, but with Nick playing high minutes and KD playing the 4, we don't go big very much other than our starting 5.

@OBoyzOld Man Having been to all the places he mentions (I served in the Peace Corps in Kenya), I really enjoyed reading Nick's blog. Kakuma refugee camp is WAY out there. Lodwar, while an actual town, is not much easier. The other NBA guys mentioned have a personal tie to Africa (though not East Africa or Kenya), but it seems Collison is just interested.
