Might the SEC / Big 12 "Champions Game" be a fall back option in case the 4-team model falls through and a plus-one is enacted?  In most years, the SEC Champ that beats the Big 12 Champ would play the Rose Bowl champ in the "Plus One" game for the outright national championship.  The regular season is protected as meaningful.  ACC and Big East and Notre Dame (most years) would be on the outside looking in ...

ESPN fought A&M's move hammer and tong the whole way until it was announced.  Unless you're an A&M fan, you probably didnt' notice the instantaneous negative reaction from ESPN reporters and analysts.  Only the SI & local media guys played it straight.  ESPN didn't want it to happen because the SEC was locked into a long term contract, and only expansion could open the doors to real negotiation.  It happened anyway ...

Great job on the A&M tab.  Looks good.  And I sincerely wish Byrne well--he pulled our entire athletic department up to respectability, but his non-revenue sports focus would not cut it in the SEC.  Football is the goose laying golden eggs, and our next A.D. will understand that.
