I love the turquoise and purple together! I wanted to dye my hair Katy Perry purple but was too lazy to bleach it so I just did it over my dark brown hair...and it was hardly noticeable haha
@BunBunMakeupTips oh I know transformers are so boxy, bulky and heavy! I try to hide it behind something haha :)
When I brought my Wii to Australia from the US (I couldn't just buy a new Wii here because the American games wouldn't play on it) and I went to several electrical stores and game shops to ask them about the power difference. They all had no idea what I was talking about and told me I just needed an adaptor. Good thing I didn't listen to them! I did some research online and found out I needed to get a transformer, and yes it was a bit pricey, but being able to play my Wii with all my games is worth it :)
Jeanne from the last MUG post here - I'm so glad you liked Burlesque! Ocean Breeze looks amazing, as does the look you did with Shimmermint in the last pic :)
LOVE that Aldo purse! When I go to Aldo I'm always so enthralled by their shoes (they make tall boots big enough to fit my large calves) that I often overlook their purses and accessories.
Yay I was hoping one of the Aussie brands would do an Aussie Christmas collection! I still love the frosty silvers/whites/blues that other brands put out but it's nice to see something representative of Christmas here :)
I thought this was just a marketing campaign in Australia because this blew up on the Australian Illamasqua Facebook page a couple of days ago but I saw no mention of it on the main Illamasqua page. The Huffington post article also notes other racist Australian ad campaigns, even though Illamasqua and creative director Alex Box are British. There were a couple of women on the Australian page who said they were women of colour and not offended by this but they were largely outnumbered by women (not sure of their race, they didn't state it) who were offended. I'm mostly surprised that of the number of people that must have been involved in making this campaign, nobody stopped and thought, 'this might offend people'. Like Illamasqua said, obviously they weren't intending to be racist, but the ad stills comes off that way and is in poor taste.
I was hoping you'd address this! First off can I say I admire you for standing by your beliefs in not using products tested on animals, there were several beauty bloggers who I read that were upset when MAC & Estee Lauder no longer became cruelty free but continued to buy and endorse their products.
Someone on the Urban Decay FB page is kind of defending them and posting this article about how L'Oreal is going cruelty free in 2013 because the European Union is going to ban animal testing (http://veggieshaveaheart.com/?p=1361). I wonder though if this will at all affect how L'Oreal conducts their business in China? If L'Oreal continues to test products on animals in China, can the EU ban them from selling products in Europe (since they're not testing in Europe?)
I was so happy when I saw Corgis on your Instagram feed! My former roommate has a Corgi mix and it is the smartest (often too smart for her own good!) and funniest dog I've ever known. Oh and that vegan chocolate pecan pie looks DELICIOUS :)
I'm an Android fan too :) My mother has the older Samsung Galaxy Note and she absolutely loves it, she loves the large screen since it's easier to read and also uses the stylus to take notes and even occasionally do sketches. I imagine the 2nd version will be even better!
Thank you so much for posting this! I'm Australian and I've been avoiding buying any imported cosmetics because I know we're being grossly overcharged here. Even "cheap" brands like Revlon charge $30-$40 for foundation and I know in the US I could get a MAC or a mid-high end foundation for that price!
The only shade I have that you swatched here is Archangel, I picked the more "conventional" colours haha (browns and the lip safe pinky/peachy colours so I can mix my own lip colours). Tranquil is super pretty on you as a blush, it's very natural.
I was wondering if you saw this blog post from the Femme Fatale website, http://femmefatalecosmetics.com.au/researching-indie-cosmetics/ it might be something that your readers who are new to indie makeup (such as myself!) might find interesting :)
@Phyrra Awesome thanks for the tips, your guide is super helpful. Your homemade coloured shampoo trick is brilliant!
That purple colour you created is super pretty! After seeing pictures of Katy Perry rocking purple and blue hair I'm tempted to try it myself. My hair is medium brown and I've only ever dyed it darker (dark brown & black), do you think I'd need to bleach it before doing purple?
I love this look! I think greys suit your complexion and eyes well since it's not as harsh as black. I don't have Polymorph but I do have Archangel, I've only used Archangel wet and on me it pulls a lot pinker
I bought 2 EcoTools brushes individually, the foundation brush and a slanted eyeliner brush. The slanted eyeliner brush is great, it's a bit thicker than I like for my gel liners but it's perfect for my eyebrows. The foundation brush, however, is awful. Every single time I touch it, it sheds. Washing it was a nightmare and the last time I tried to wash it I I ended up with "hairs" all over my hands and sink. I was so frustrated I ended up throwing it out :(
@Phyrra Yay! I'll be looking forward to the Femme Fatale swatches :D Yes I also subscribe to the Plastic Diaries, like your blog I found out about hers through Temptalia's guest posts :)
@Phyrra I moved to Australia, that's why all your indie Australian brand posts excite me, all imported brands (even drugstore brands like Revlon) are horrendously overpriced here. I was only in the US for college in Boston, prior to that I lived in Thailand. I stocked up on goodies from Sephora, Saks/Macys (no Nordstrom near me) and HauteLook before I left :)
Argh looks like more cool stuff is happening at Sephora, right after I moved away from the US haha. I've heard a lot about the Lip Tars and would've loved to swatch & play with them in person.
Yay for another Aussie brand! You've already got me hooked on Femme Fatale Cosmetics (just received my second order from them and I'm in love!), I look forward to trying out Pretty Serious now too :)
