@BeanBoy Ah, thank you to both you and to @royaldoultonsan. I saw the review, saw it was Limited Edition and thought it had just recently come out. I don't buy much Essie, so I'm not familiar with particular collections. It makes a lot more sense now. :)
@wwendalynne No comparison whatsoever to the stunning Outlaw. On my skintones, Gilda is orange! Not Taj Mahal orange but a definite tangerine-coral on my skin. And it is super intense in its pigmentation as compared to its closest counterpart, imo: the shimmery Torrid. Torrid has pigmentation but I think this one has it much, much more intensely, solidly and opaquely. I have no pink in my skin at all and a strong yellow undertone, so this was just terrible on me. I didn't feel fresh or pretty in the slightest. I felt muddy, dirty, brown-yellow-sallow. You are much paler than I am and you don't have those strong yellow undertones. I think you have a bit more of an olive-neutral-cool tinge that would totally work with this and make it very pretty on you.
I can't recall if you have Torrid though. This is a more intense (and matte) version of that with (supposedly) a wee bit more pink. I don't see that when I compare my 2 side by side, but others say that a lot, so... <shrug> I don't think Gilda is like Orgasm either; it's much more intense and with actual, serious colour and pigmentation. It's most definitely not like Outlaw which is a rosy-raspberry with a gold sheen. This is a non-shimmery, tangerine-coral with (supposed) pink tinges, though Christine sees red tinges instead. It's a lot more pink in the swatches on my phone than on my computer, but either way, it just didn't work on my actual *skin.* (I shudder to think what Gina would do because that one is pure and total tangerine.) But Gilda is one of the most loved NARS blushes so it clearly is magnificent on a lot of people.
So odd to have Limited Edition for a fall shade that screams Spring to me.... hm. I think this might have been really pretty if the iridescence had been significantly more pronounced. It's faintly noticeable in the bottle but, as you noted, almost imperceptible on the nails.
Mmm.... Stylenomics...... dark green... Mmmm..... I've concluded I'm really predictable when it comes to certain colour categories. LOL! I'll wait for a review since I think I have about 4 nail varnishes in that same, overall colour family already with Illamasqua's Viridian being my absolute favorite. This looks like it lacks Viridian's depth and duo-toned nature, but is more of a true green, so we'll see. London Butter's famous green (British Racing Green?) may be a bit more my cup of tea as it lacks some of the blue of this one.
I want to love Gilda. I want to so, so badly. I had been excited to get it like no other blush but... no. Just no. My skin must have a lot more yellow and olive than yours because on me, this was very orange-y. Too orange-y for my liking. I think if I had a bit more pink in my skin, the pink-coral nature would come out but I don't and it didn't. It don't know if it made my colouring look kinda flat and dulled, a bit jaundiced, or if I simply didn't feel fresh and pretty, but either way, I really didn't like it on me. At all! In fact, I've stuck it in a closet far away from my makeup after swatching it twice while I try to figure out what to do with it. Because, truly, I don't see myself ever reaching for it given all the other blushes that I do love or that are prettier on me. :'(
I wonder how similar Yogaga (or whichever is the taupe that is 2nd from the right in the last photo) is to that new Chanel taupe, Frenzy, that we saw a few weeks ago. http://www.temptalia.com/chanel-frenzy-le-vernis-nail-lacquer-review-photos-swatches The bottle in the last photo really made me think of it. Frenzy might be a wee bit more mushroom-y but if they're in the same ballpark, roughly speaking, then Yogaga could be an affordable alternative to those who don't like to pay Chanel prices.
@wwendalynne It's a godsend to me to check my eyeshadows, how blended the colours are, how evenly the concealer or foundation is applied, stray mascara flecks and things like that. My bathroom has a massive mirrow over the sink, so that's great for the overall stuff but I need that magnifying mirror to put on my eyeshadows first and foremost! How something looks in the overall mirror or from far away is often not the case close-up! But, yes, it definitely is a lifesaver for eyebrow shaping and tweezing, though. No doubt!
So, you know I only like opaque, matte lipsticks, right? Yeah, well, I got Lollipop & Sweet Tart the other day and I LURRRRVE Lollipop!!! Someone had suggested the Lip Butters in the recent thread about tinted lip balms when I said I wanted something just to wear at night for moisture. But Lollipop's colour, its super pigmentation and its opaqueness have captured my heart. I've worn it for 2 days straight and *in lieu* of lipstick which I rarely do! So, so lovely. But -- and I feel crazy for saying this -- I find it really drying! I definitely don't consider it to be hydrating or moisturizing. In fact, my lips were in dire need of Jack Black afterwards. I think it's more of a sheer, glossy lipstick than a tinted moisturizing lip balm but it doesn't matter. Its intense pigmentation and colour are so worth it! Thank you! I would never have considered a sheer, glossy Revlon lip product had it not been for you and the community which you've created here. :)
@blueraccoon Are you keen on a matte foundation that sound like it will be full coverage? Or something that sounds like hydrating, shimmery primer? If not, then you can save that money and put it towards all the eyeshadows. To me, the dark sable brown one sounds interesting. And I think you like the regular Trench, so perhaps the gold version will be great too? Oh, and you absolutely need all the lipsticks!! You do, you do, you do!!!

@wwendalynne Well, if it makes matters better, she strongly resembles Mariel Hemingway, especially from the nose up.
I love the model's eyebrows and her gorgeous eyes. The whole look is so chic, despite the faint Olsen Twins vibe that I get from her.
I think this would be a FANTASTIC colour for an Olympic swimmer whose flag has yellow in it! For me? Not so much.
Just an FYI, I think the comments are problematic for this section, too. They've all vanished and on 2 different browser systems. So, perhaps Livefyre can work on this thread in addition to the Burberry one?
Your skin tone/coloring: Olive, light to medium, with yellow undertones. NARS Punjab, MAC NC 25-35 (depending on season) Right now, I think I'm probably an NC 32-35.
Where do you apply your makeup? Bathroom & with a standing magnifying glass. Then, later, I double-check how it looks in a mirror that's in more natural lighting.
What kind of lighting do you apply makeup with? 6 overhead round vanity lights.
What would you change about your makeup set-up? I need more storage space but I've already sacrificed the neatness of my tidy, sparse, white counters to those storage drawers for my more frequently-used makeup and have no more room. I think I need one of those tall, free-standing IKEA makeup cabinets/towers.
I picked this up on impulse yesterday and without checking first to see if you had done a review. Stupid me. The colour was so glorious in the jar and then, I swatched it. Yikes!! So sheer. And, yes, patchy. I built it up a lot and then the texture/look was okay. Truly glorious colour at that point, but obviously not something that will be consistent throughout, especially if one doesn't have time to really work with it. What I can't decide is if the low cost makes it worth while to keep as a base for my purple (powder) eyeshadow. I need something like that, especially one that is a lighter violet hue, for the dark purples. My mother "borrowed" <ahem> my MUFE Aqua purple which I suppose was the ideal base for my purposes, though much darker than this one. What do you think? Is it too potentially patchy to use as a base or is it really just a question of taking time to layer it evenly?
I picked this up yesterday and, honestly, I'm struggling to like it. It is not as purply-plum nor as intense as the swatches appear on my monitor. And I actually think that Rockstar is *more* intense, not less intense, than this. Ultimately, my problem is that the colour looks a little flat on me. I first put on the Golden Emerald and my jaw was open at the absolutely INCREDIBLE colour, the depth, the sparkly light reflectors (which is the only way I can really describe the richness of the green and gold) and the intensity of the colour. Then I put on Smoldering Plum in my crease and V, and... meh. I tried it wet. I tried it dry. I changed brushes. I just didn't see richness. So, to compare, I layered Rockstar in the V of one eye and in a side-by-side swatch on my hand. Rockstar is more intense. It's definitely more purple and with more shimmer than the brown-tinged Smoldering Plum. I'm mulling it over, but I think I'm going to return it and get the Navy Blue one instead, despite a terrible review from you. The little bit that I swatched of that showed a colour well worth working with.
@Christine-Temptalia I suspected it wasn't on my end. After all, NO comments for Burberry? Burberry?!?!! I expected @Blueracoon to be lying prostate in front of the monitor, in a pile of deleriousness, cooing and mumbling with joy! <grin>
For me, it looks a bit too much like a Lip Butter or something analagous on your lips. OT: are the comments accidentally turned off for the Burberry post? I don't see any window in which to write and it's been that way for a while. Perhaps just my computer acting up?
@Miss J Does your mother collect anything? Cookbooks, knicknacks, cute mugs, whatever? Because I think it's the same thing. I get the same sorts of comments from my mother, both about makeup in general *AND* specifically about NARS blushes. My response is that it makes me happy. Some people buy shoes, I buy blushes. (The fact that I buy BOTH is something my mother decided to kindly ignore. LOL!) But the next time she says something, perhaps you can gently remind her of something *she* collects and adores. As for the glitter in Super O, let me know if you find the texture of the skin on your face makes a difference and makes the glitter stay on longer. But please, don't feel guilty. Please don't let the comment ruin your happiness and joy. :(
