Nice rod, I've been watching it on a forum I frequent. Great build and great to see someone young into these sort of cars!

@Motor Maniac  When you're 22 and you live at home with no outgoing costs apart from maybe a mobile phone, you can throw every single dollar you earn into a car. I built a big dollar car at that age, and 2 semi-decent builds before it. I could have almost bought a small house outright for the amount of cash I threw into 3 or 4 cars before I hit 25! As for the skill, I guess it comes with practice and having others help you along the way.

@kphillips9936 @Matt Jones @Spaghetti You see that's the thing though, what offends some, may not offend others, it's all subjective. For me that beetle is offensive. It's "stance" is whack, so is the V8 and the fact that it's a fatty. I don't like Corvettes of any kind, and the 2 RX7's pictured are not to my taste.

I love a nicely slammed beetle, this is no exception.

I love ratty beetles, however I do not love fake patina.

I was reminded of the killers mask from SCREAM when I spotted his ear lobe in the 5th photo.

Why is a beard now known as a hipster beard(as someone on here commented), can't men just enjoy their face pubes?

Why must people hate on SH for running an article like this. I care not for the Kiwi Kuda feature, or the Hoonigan article(what even is Hoonigan?), or the drifting SLS article so I don't click on them, let alone get in there and have a massive whinge.

Isn't that Miyajima Island? Awesome place, unfortunately we were there at high tide, but the sunset on the Torii more than made up for the lack of being able to walk out to it.

Why were the comments disabled for the E36's? I like them, now that I know the back story, I'd prefer it if they were M3's rather than $500 jalopies, and the wheels specs of 17x10.5 -30 and -60 were a bit dubious to me, or was that with 30mm and 60mm spacers? I'd go the Nomad and the A7 to round out my top 3.

@Jake Laird"There is nothing on it that is innovative, ORIGINAL, or creative."

The fact that it is original and unmessed with(for the most part) is what makes it cool. An unmolestered car, dumped on some nice wheels is hardly new and certainly didn't come about recently to fit in with "stance". What perplexes me is that people think the word stance can be used to describe a modification style. It's simply a word(that has been around forever) that describes, more or less, how a car sits.

Maybe it did neither....drive nor handle before the owner got their hands on it. Perhaps he's done a good thing by putting it back on the road. It certainly wouldn't take much to remove the suspension and wheels and get it back to how someone else might like to be.

I love the different colored bays on those 4 Honda's, and you're right, I'm also often disappointed by the lack of work that goes into so many engine bays over there.

This is why I hate Amercanised drift(assuming this is all American which I'm sure it it, but can't be bothered reading). Too much sponsor based crap with humungous, unrealistic build budgets and way over the top HP for a sport that doesn't REALLY require it.

I'm certainly a 4 door/wagon fan over sports cars and coupes, so this I can dig. The GTR doesn't do a whole lot for me, but some highly modded versions of this would get me excited for sure.

It's great to see another all Mazda car come out of his workshop, but I hope he steers away from the camo thing this time. So it's obviously going to be 20B powered, but you say the most powerful yet....does a car like this really need 1000hp+ to drift?

@majik16106 Thanks! I've been to Akihabara but didn't see an abundance of them as you say. I was there with a mate(his choice) and the place wasn't really my thing, so I probably wasn't paying much attention that day. Nakano mall might be worth a try though. Kyoto is somewhere I don't think I'll be going back to any time soon as I've been there a few times now, but Osaka will be my fly in fly out city next trip, so I might look there too.

Can anyone confirm the wheel/tyre sizes here? If they're 7's and 8.5's with 185/60's then my plans are out the window! I'd have thought a 185/60 would stretch a bit harder on an 8.5 and less on a 7......and front and rear seem to look pretty similar here.

Very cool little car though.....definitely appreciate the work!

@SuzyWallace I guess I meant the stock cars that don't have open doors or open bonnets to show any sort of interior/bay work that may have been done. I also guess I meant things like the brand new MK7's or A5's etc that "appear" to only have wheels and suspension done, they may not, but if they have more, why not show it?!?!? All the other older stuff and stuff on full dispaly showing all the work, by all means they are worthy, but I stand by my comment regarding cars like that silver M3 even with Paddy's comments below! Air and rear wheels up front still do not a show car maketh, just my opinion of course.

And speaking of freezing fingers and toes at a car show in the winter when it's raining....I was at the JCCA New Year meeting this year at Fuji Speedway, and it was all of the above and I loved it!!!!

Now, to the event here.....I usually don't like to hate on events like this but since when did a fairly standard car, lowered(static or bags) on some expensive multi-piece wheels become a show car, or a build, or a project? That silver M3 is about as far from an inside worthy show car as some dudes Suzuki Sierra in the car park. Also, while whinging.....how is a wrapped, airbagged, fancy wheeled AMG "pushing things"????

@Greg3032 Come on man, it takes A LOT of brain strain to pick out pink and blue to sticker up your car, it's design genius!!!! On another note, I'm not a fan of the "custom machined" waffles, which are really just flat pieces of metal, nor do I like the filled in triangle indent which start the basket weave design on the faces......don't modify perfection IMHO.

Nice car, it certainly looks good and I commend him on the mods, but it's really nothing super special......however with that said, I would own it and love it to death, it's really very nice!

@PavelSlapiSlapansky Cars that run certain times have to have certain length wheel studs in order to pass ANDRA tech. It basically is as Cooper says.....the longer the stud, the more thread that the wheel nut has to travel along before it can come all the way off....just makes it harder for a wheel to come loose/off.
