Love 'em all, clean and ratty....definitely want to get into something like this at some point! I have no idea about these cars or their scene, but I love the look of all of them and will own something like one of these before too long!

Also the little Mazda Familia/1300 wagons should have been mentioned....by far one of the coolest retro JDM wagons ever produced!!!

@The One Otaku  Same goes for a lot of the cars that are now over-hyped and therefore over-priced. A splittie 23 window just sold for $202k in Australia. It's beyond ridiculous, surely those prices aren't sustainable, and 99% of it comes from internet hype.

To add, technology has certainly allowed us to view things on a worldwide scale, and that is something I love about it, but as a whole, I think it's a negative. I know I'm not the only one to think like this either, people left, right and centre are getting off forums and social media to avoid it all.

In response to your opening statement, I think the complete opposite. It's the worst time ever to be a car person....the internet, smartphones, social media etc has ruined the car scene. People doing things purely to gain e-fame and "likes", doing mods, posting photo's on social media then stripping and selling a car once they've been "noticed", arguments, haters and elitists everywhere. It simply isn't what it used to be 15-20+ years ago. Just my opinion of course, but I think technology has ruined the car scene worldwide.

@BigNickel While I can see your point, and locking your car up for half the year would suck, I suppose it's like how people wish for warm summers if they live somewhere that it doesn't happen for more than a couple of months. Try 30+ degrees for 6 months of the year and closer to 35(even 40) for 2-3 of those months and you soon get sick of that too as driving an old school car is not pleasant on those days. I far prefer the cold, not Canada cold I must say where you're snowed in, but 0 to -teens with a nice covering of snow and I'd be more than happy! It sounds like you feel the same way about your climate right now as I do about mine right now.

@eejjkk I dream for snow....I guess you always want what you can't have. People here sook about it being too cold to go out in winter and it barely ever reaches single digits(celsius) on the coldest winters night....they really have no idea what cold is.

@Option13 Sigh......why are people so hung up on this site being called SPEEDhunters, it's really just a name, move along.

After all, it really should be renamed Japanhunters.....but I'm not complaining about that at all, because the Japanese do everything well.

I typically love kiwi cars, the way they do them is super cool......but a 6/71 on a 12A, that's actually laughable.

@JoshuaWhitcombe Too many cheapies and reps still when looking at wheels. And it's funny, kiwi's give aussies crap for overusing Simmons(mainly on rotors) but they're the most common wheel on rotors in this feature.

Can anyone build one of these LBW/RB cars without plastering it with tacky stickers, or gold intercoolers or something else that's gaudy.....why not just leave it clean?

Also that first shot is proof as to why bagged cars only look good sitting still....the front looks super goofy when driving.

How can you say new and innovative wheels are coming from Rays when those on the Mazda are clearly a direct copy of Rotiform BLQ's? I'm no Rotiform lover, but they must feel pretty good when a huge company like Rays copies them.

Love the E30 Mighty Boy, reminds me of the little Hako Mighty Boy I saw at Nos2Days 2 years ago, so cool. I also love what the Boom Craft people are doing, must sh!t the purists to tears, but I do wonder how they get away with the 458 treatment when deadmau5 didn't, or do they?

You mention that RWB, LB Walk and RBunny were in a position of being way out there at one point and look where they are now. You also say it'd be boring if everyone did the same thing, yet those people are doing just that, the same, boring thing, car after car within their own companies. They should try something a little new.....just my opinion of course.

Any hints on what something like this costs, and the time spent away?

Being 75% Europe based it's not a cheap adventure for people from our side of the world!!

I do dislike when people travel solely for cars though, so it's good that you've included a few non-car things. Japan for one is sooooo full of different experiences that going solely for cars(or snowboarding as most do) really bugs me.....people need to experience more than just one thing when they go to a totally different country.

Get ready for the time when all your friends do nothing but talk houses and babies as you mentioned, because it's not too far away by the sounds of it. It's really sad when everything starts to revolve around those 2 things.....part of growing up I guess, but still sad.
