Unfortunate that your sources fail to include the original source of the "3Vs" used to define Big Data: the 12 year-old piece on "3D Data Management Challenges" I wrote at Gartner (then META) in 2001. Here's a reference, for the professional courtesy of proper citation: http://goo.gl/9Mxju. Also note that while other's "cleverly" have posited additional "V"s unfortunately they are not definitional, and only serve to confuse people.
