First and foremost the first people were black. For the religious people, have you ever seen any white dirt??? No. For the evolutionists and people that believe we came from monkeys it would have taken a very long time for them to lighten up. the evidence of the first people was found in a hot environment which survival of the fittest you would need melanin in your skin in order to survive the sun. People became lighter as they went further away from the sun. the Ancient Egyptians were black why would they paint themselves darker. All of the apocryphal statements @Raylmt and @Andybinga is making with no support and no actual relevant findings have become impossible for me to stomach. When white people came to Africa and took the slaves they were not spear throwing jungle people. But people in civilized communities.
