Water outlet manifold above the exhaust ports? These guys have done their homework. There is a lot of over-the-top fiddly stuff that is just mechanically impressive (engine porn) and doesn't really need to be there, but this is DAMN good none-the-less.

lol @ the photo you used of the CR-X! Interesting that there are vehicles from all around the world here, plenty of goodies. Never heard of the AMG Hammer and there isn't much focus on the Renault 5's or anything in Australia. But the S4 has earnt its fame everywhere I think. Would have been interesting to have a VL Walkinshaw in there! hahaha but that's a bit of an Aussie-only vehicle.

@sean klingelhoefer @mynameisasa I don't want to agree or disagree with the post you're replying to Sean. I enjoy the theme of this car but the fact that makes it arguably not feature-worthy is not that it doesn't have a 'long list of mods' (anyone can buy parts) it's that it doesn't seem to have any history. Has he restored it or something? Is there an interesting back-story? The car is almost plain but if he's done a lot of work to it behind the scenes then that's what makes it feature-worthy.

@greenroadster lol it's not about him not having an imagination. There is a certain niceness of having the original little six, the bench seat and all that shit.
1 year, 7 months ago on Vintage Daily: Bensopra P130 Cedric
@tomok Ah yes, most people generalise about the later models rather than the early ones; refreshing to hear someone talk about the chrome bumper cars enthusiastically. From what I've seen on the internet, the A30 definitely seems to be a more popular and more desirable car. We never got them in Australia, but we do have the 130s, 230s and 330s, and the very occasional 2nd generation Gloria (pre-A30). All gorgeous cars
@tomok Gloria was still Prince when this car was made, but when Nissan & Prince combined, the Gloria and Cedric were the same bodyshape for a couple of models (like, 10 years or more). I think the main appeal of the Gloria is normally better trim & option of pillarless.
haha my daily 230 Cedric is a little more extreme than this one, but I totally rate it.
@FrankiePerez6 '66 Chevelle I believe. Someone from America can probably give you more information :P

Nice one!!! Not a car I'd usually look twice at, a bit new for me but I'm sure it'd be a hoot to drive. And looks a lot better than standard even though the modifications are fairly 'tame' visually.

@MPistol I suppose it's a love it or hate it thing. Most old budget cars don't come with tachos and often the 'sports model' ones aren't very accurate anyway. I love the look of a 5" Autometer tach and the functionality is superb. I think it adds to this interior - each to their own.

Hot six that revs and makes okay power, make it smaller, less weight in the body, more feedback from the steering, brakes etc, all that crap. Not the couch on steroids that they make at the moment.

Nice article. BTW the triple headlight "Datsun 180BSSS" as you've called it (Bluebird name) is not actually a 610, rather it's a 710 or Violet (I doubt it would have been badged as a 180B). Interesting to see the "Chevy" over in South Africa, that's an Australian HQ Statesman which has obviously been exported and sold under the Chevrolet banner. Even by HQ Saloon standards, that wouldn't be the one you'd choose to go circuit racing! hahahaha funny as

@speedhunters_dino Yeah well they have a 'quill' shaft which is a 'consumable' item lol. As in it's designed to be the weakest link and fail before the box (and I guess diff) fails, but the latter doesn't work. Anyway, this quill shaft - Ferrari's idea of a 'consumable' part - costs four and a half grand! ($AUD) hahahhaha

1 year, 10 months ago on Taking It To The Top At Retro Rides Gathering
haha is this heaven? Made me laugh seeing the Ferrari flat 12 out, rebuilding the diff. A friend of mine just finished doing exactly the same job on his Testarossa. What an expensive bit of kit they are :P
@ClaytonPayton It's hard to say this part without sounding like a a bit of a cunt, but mechanically, the difference is that a crash box has nothing, a synchro box has 'cone clutch' synchros (tapered brass etc) and a dog box just has a dog clutch on each gear. "the dog ring transmission can slightly overcome the mismatched gear speeds because the viscosity of the fluid between the two friction surfaces". That more closely explains a synchro box again. The dog can 'match' the revs like a synchro box but it you can't "ride" the dog at all like you do with a synchro - it does it really abruptly when you just slam it into that gate. It isn't a smooth transition - you've just got to commit to it and it'll bang in.
1 year, 10 months ago on A Race-bred, Bmw-powered ’69 Commodore
@ClaytonPayton @milkplus @Curlytop "dog rings require you match revs when you shift" That's a crash box, not a dog box, milkyplus is correct. A dog box is like a motorbike, you don't really need to match the revs (particularly on a motorbike where there is so much less inertia in all the driveline so you can drive it like a goose without all that much drama) but obviously you should for a smooth ride and less force/wear on the dogs.
I reckon the front seats should be in vinyl not cloth, and the polished stuff under the bonnet should be blacked out. Really nice though. I do like the notion of a V8 Hako :P

Does anyone else think that this is like the worst editing they've ever seen on a big budget video? Sped up footage and stuff, ugh, cringeworthy. Can we get people who are actually into cars to make videos now? Ken Block's videos are/were good, but shitty imitations of them aren't.
