On a bright note, Fisher has started hitting his 3s
@criznazy53 @Lost Ones It is possible that Trading Harden for #2 pick and locking up Ibaka makes the team better going forward even though Harden is the better player. The drop off might be less
2 years, 9 months ago on Thunder back themselves to elimination in Game 4, 104-98
@SB718 @Nick the Quick 4 Life @OBoymuzik When he is on the court, Harden has played as many minutes as anyone else on lebron
@SB718 @Nick the Quick 4 Life Perk has very little to no value against Bosh. Ibaka and Collision should be getting all the big man minutes
@OBoymuzik I am a basketball fan that likes to talk basketball. Also, don't want to go to bed, seems so boring.
@SB718 @Nick the Quick 4 Life @OBoymuzik @DSYIII He isn't playing well but 15 minutes on Lebron takes a ton out of you.
Just want to make a point clear. Saying that playing Perkins has cost the Thunder the series is not to say that Perk has played bad but that by playing him he restricts the Thunder in so many ways against the Heat. That is not to say that he isn't a major reason that the team is here but now that they are here he has no use.
1. by using him on Bosh, you no longer have your best defender on Bosh (Ibaka/Collison)
2. If you have Ibaka/Collision on the floor with Perk then one of them has to guard Battier who play primarily on the permitter. They can't close out well enough to prevent him from getting open looks
3. Unless you don't want to play Ibaka/Collision at all it requires the Thunder to take their best defender or Harden off the court because KD and RW aren't coming out
4. 3 leads to bad matchups on the defensive end or losing some offense.
Basically playing Perk requires the Thunder to play a bigger lineup which has no chance to beat the Heat. Why do you think the 1st/4th quarter splits are so big in this series?
@criznazy53 @Lost Ones That is what the Thunder would like to do and they shouldn't overpay but someone will.
@SB718 @Nick the Quick 4 Life @OBoymuzik I meant lay ups in reference to Harden
@SB718 @Nick the Quick 4 Life @OBoymuzik If Harden doesn't have to guard Lebron because Thabo is on the court to do that then all his energy can be used on the offensive end and he probably puts up numbers in line with what he has been doing all year. Missing FTs is due to tired legs 95% of the time
@SB718 @Nick the Quick 4 Life @DSYIII Ya, try playing great D on the league's most physical player and see what you have left for the offensive end
@OBoymuzik @SB718 @Nick the Quick 4 Life @DSYIII Not it doesn't at all. 1) wade is not nearly the physical specimen that Lebron is and doesn't require nearly the stamina to play on D 2) Westbrook is a far better defender than Harden 3) Wade doesn't constantly post you up (if you have never played post D you can't appreciate how tiring it is) 4) Westbrook is probably better conditioned to run around the court chasing wade than Harden is to play Lebron
@criznazy53 Thunder may not, someone else will
@Lucas_Allen1 @Lost Ones @Nick the Quick 4 Life @ThunderStruck2412 Why didn't doug collins win with the same lineup that Jackson was able to win with in Chicago? Why didn't the Lakers win without Phil Jackson?
You need great players yes, but head coaches can put you over the top
@DSYIII 80% of that can be attributed to Brooks playing him on Lebron where he has to expend so much energy on D against one of the league's most dynamic players instead of being allowed to focus on his offense
@OBoymuzik @criznazy53 You know Ibaka will get max or close to it though. Big men are so overpaid it is a joke
@ThunderStruck2412 @TheFix82 Yes he is. Not saying he needs to be amnestied, he has his uses against certain teams (Lakers, Spurs, Grizzlies etc.) but in this series Collision/Ibaka are so much better against Heat bigs and so much better with help on drives. Then it allows you to play Thabo/Westbrook/Harden/KD together which is better for offense defense because it frees up Harden on D. I guess saying Perkins is the reason is wrong, playing him at the expense of other people is probably the reason that the Thunder are down right now
@criznazy53 @Lost Ones Amare isn't super max but I think he is max (or very close). For Harden see Rashard Lewis
@loplopol @OBoymuzik I agree. That's what Thabo is for, Hide KD on Battier where he won't pick up any fouls cuz Battier doesn't drive, just shoots 3s
@Lucas_Allen1 @ThunderStruck2412 Coaching is huge because it puts the right players in a position to make plays. Playing Perk and putting Harden on Lebron is bad coaching and great play can only overcome so much bad coaching
@OBoymuzik @bzzt @ThunderStruck2412 His lineup choices are terrible and he cant draw up a play. Hard to say if he actually was WORE last year
@ElMexiThunder @TheFix82 This makes perfect sense since his only value comes when the other team has a legitimate big man for him to guard. The Thunder would actually be a better team if he received 0 minutes in this series
@OBoymuzik Playing the 2 bigs requires the Thunder to either lose something major on offense (Harden) or the best defender on the Heat's best offense (Thabo)
@OBoymuzik I'd argue that is the reason the Thunder lost. Perkins adds nothing in this series and playing him with Ibaka is terrible considering the heat are using Battier at the 4. Thunder probably are up 3-1 if Thabo, Westbrook, Harden, KD and Ibaka/Collison are used primarily with Thabo on James, KD on Battier, Westbrook on Wade, Harden on Chalmers and Ibaka/Collision on whatever big man the heat decide to play at the time
@thunder_fan_in_korea Can't use KD at the 4 permanently tho. What do you do when you play teams with a real 4 who just muscle him up all game. It works against certain teams but you need a real plan B
@OBoymuzik Then put him on Battier who never drives and will never cause him to pick up fouls. Easy decision but I guess I shouldn't be surprised when he puts a great offensive player/average defender on Lebron when he has Thabo sitting there as a perfect option. Harden should never be on Lebron
@OBoymuzik @loplopol @Koka_Da_Bauce Probably because they don't view Harden in that kind of light. Also, his game was so terrible that was expected.
@Lost Ones no, but the list of players who get a max contract and don't deserve it is very high
Can someone please explain putting KD on Chalmers and still using 2 bigs? Honestly, one good argument that Perkins/Ibaka should be in there while using KD on Chalmers. And this from a coach who turned down a 3 year/$11 million extension?
@SB718 Fact is that when you lose, every negative play is going to get looked at and scrutinized. It doesn't help when it is a mental mistake that should never happen in that situation.
@SB718 Those people are everywhere...
@loplopol @Koka_Da_Bauce I'm not sure how many people are actually joking. Either way, that foul is unforgivable, you gotta know the shot clock and situation, although a lot of that gets put on Brooks too
@SB718 Lebron lead the NBA in 4th quarter scoring this year. How many people say that he isn't clutch?
@Koka_Da_Bauce DO you understand how many times this argument has been used on Lebron? How many times does he put up 40/10/7 and people say it was a bad game because of missed FTs and turnovers late. Fact is that 43 points doesn't mean much when you lose and go down 3-1
Anyone who rips on Lebron for not being clutch can't defend Westbrook in this game. He played a great game and put up great numbers but down the stretch, in the games biggest moments, Westbrook faded and had a potentially costly mental error. Sounds like a certain #6 from Miami...
@OUThunderfan Because Harden is going to get max. Which would already put them into the luxury tax. If that is the case then the team can't really pay Ibaka. Also, remember that this isn't just a little money. When in the luxury tax you are basically paying double, the salary and the tax)

@Arent He might not be a great coach but Pop would coach circles around just about any other coach in the playoffs
2 years, 10 months ago on Thunder battle back but drop Game 2 to go down 0-2, 120-111
@Dicharden He probably is closer than most people give him credit for and Parker still is under 30.
2 years, 10 months ago on Thunder at Spurs: Game 2 Pregame Primer
@ElMexiThunder Well if they traded for Howard either Westbrook or Harden would have to be gone. If it is Westbrook then they could resign Harden. Unless there is a way to get him without trading either.
@FF_pickups @bmuelle21 Problem would be getting contracts to match in any trade, especially since Orlando is basically making Hedo a piece of any Howard Trade.
@LPCes99 Tough to beat a team that has won 20 in a row 2 straight games. Not impossible but an uphill climb
@Lost Ones I guess that is one way to look at it. Parker is too quick for any big tho. Once he beats the guard most any big is gonna get owned.
LOL @ James Harden saying that the guards played good D on Parker and he only hit a couple late. Parker absolutely blew you up, just admit it and move on
@Legendary_dork Kobe has been top 5 in the NBA in techs for the past 5 years? Also those calls go equally to Harden, RW and KD. How many times do they get calls on drives when there is no foul
2 years, 10 months ago on Thunder at Lakers: Game 4 Pregame Primer
@Old Man Game @GAP @EMERY CHELSEA Do Thunder fans ignore that this applies equally to KD, RW and Harden?
2 years, 10 months ago on Thunder drop a tough Game 3 to the Lakers, 99-96
Any Thunder fan who complains about a foul on Kobe for hitting the hand, lets watch how many calls KD gets when he gets hit on the hand which is technically part of the ball.
@yesmarv Watch the contact on Kobe every time he catches the ball with no call. Harden/RW get a call on every drive they make.
Also apparently hitting Metta in the back of the knee and making his leg collapse is a T on Metta? Everyone of you would be calling for his ejection if he had reacted like RW did.
@Jeremy2 Probably. 5 is about right for an elbow so he might have go an extra 2 for rep. Also think the NBA was basically suspending him for the first round of the playoffs so they figured 6 + 1 regular season game
