@Anthony_TMB @KevinC1 Thats actually a great idea... if you noticed the LexCorp building in the trailer, I wonder if Luthor procures Zod's suit at the end and tweaks it for his own use... could be cool.
@Anthony_TMB i saw a pic of faora with a weird force field helmet... i think that is zod with a similar helmet...
this looks about as epic as epic can be... lots of departures from canon (which i am fine with) i wonder how purists will respond...
How does Micheal Angarano keep getting jobs? He must be some big shot's nephew or son or something... its not that he's a bad actor, he just always seems terribly miscast...
@JamesM @KevinC1 @WillLambert canon goes out the window, at this point. The films are their own story now. Im not saying they should kill off Pepper so Stark can have vengeance... Im simply connecting some dots in the trailers. If i happen to be right (and I acknowledge I am most likely not) I would be okay with that... Shane Black has cited The Dark Knight as inspiration for this story, and we saw what happened to Rachel Dawes, just sayin.
@JamesM @WillLambert I don't see how it would be stupid if it serves the story... Im not saying I want to see Pepper killed off or that she should be, but if it is the impetus for Tony to get his "good old fashioned revenge", Im all for it...
I feel like Pepper is gonna get the Rachel Dawes treatment in this one...
There are some comic book costumes that simply do not translate onto live action film... Batman's is one of those costumes... Nolan did it about as well as could be done IMO without looking silly...
You can't judge a film by it's trailer... two words: Phantom Menace. However, I disagree on the points about Superman Returns. The trailer was phenomenal, yes... but I personally thought the film delivered what the trailer promised. It wasn't the Superman film a lot of people wanted, but it was a very good film nonetheless.
I think Man of Steel will be good. It will bring the action that fans have been clamoring for since CGI has made it possible to translate Superman on film. I had high hopes prior to the trailer, and since then my excitement has increased. Hopefully it can deliver.
Also, I thought Watchmen was a very good adaptation as well, not sure what the guy could have done differently to improve it all that much... The worst you could say is that the casting of a few characters could have been better and Dr. Manhattan's facial CGI left something to be desired...
I actually really like this guy... he was great in moneyball.
@Anthony_TMB @KevinC1 I say why not go for the gusto? The Avengers introduced a guy like Thanos, then fans would be ready for Apocalypse... Start the film in Ancient Egypt and introduce him and then just start time jumping all over the place and just go nuts....
What about Prof. X? He dies in X3 and he's confirmed as coming back in both McAvoy's and Stewarts iterations... I wonder if this is where the whole 'string theory' and 'parallel universes' come into play. I hope they go for Apoalypse as a villain here in some way shape or form...
While I respect George Lucas for the visionary he is in terms of hatching ideas, characters and concepts, GL isn't half the director JJ Abrams is. The scripts Lucas put out and the direction he applied to them were the biggest reason the prequel trilogy fell short of expectations. With writing and directing out of his hands, I think we will see the best of Star Wars since the OT. I am excited as anything to see what Abrams does with this.
Star Wars is right in his wheel house as far as his talents are concerned. I wonder how much freedom they will give him concerning the script... if Arndt will basically hand over the first draft and then Abrams and his crew will look at it and tweak it or not...
I think this is probably the best thing that any Star Wars fan could ask for. What Abrams did with Star Trek was take all the great stuff from Star Wars (A New Hope), and apply it. It is all the same things that the prequel trilogy sorely missed. While I don't think Abrams is the best director out there, I do think he is the best director out there to make Star Wars relevant and successful today...
Perry White is black and Jimmy Olsen is Jenny Olsen... don't make me no nevermind so long as it helps the story...
The DC properties are in a tight spot with Nolan's trilogy having just ended and The Avengers doing so well... These execs clearly don't have the patience to follow the Marvel model, but then again that might prove redundant to have all the solo films that loosely tie together at some point. If they are smart and organized they can make it work in reverse by doing the big movie first then breaking down by character to build it back up again...
Say what you want about Nolan and that he overcomplicates or oversimplifies... I love his work. This sounds like it could be a hell of a ride, and I for one, am psyched.
I think there will always be a place for the brick and mortar cinema in some way shape or form. Watching a movie at home is not the same thing unless you have a ridiculous home theater which is not the case for most of us. Until that is the case though, people will want to gather together and watch movies in their truest form, on the silver screen. Even after the format becomes totally obsolete, it will hang around as a novelty for a while. So I don't think its going anywhere for a long time...
