I have such mixed feelings about this plugin. On the one hand, it has broken three different sites where I have tried it. On the other hand, none of the other SEO plugins seem to offer all of its features. Crossing my fingers and giving it another try.
PS, as a fellow marketing gal (book publicist) I love your site name!

@Martin (Pagelines) @Karma Bennett Well I installed DMS and that didn't go well at all. I get this error on a white background: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes) in /data/17/1/140/158/1629321/user/1756258/htdocs/careercrossroadscoach/wp-content/themes/dms/includes/less.plugin.php on line 2370
On top of that, when I went to the settings page, DMS seems to offer zero options in regards to customization. Know I must be missing something, because that's the whole point of DMS. But all I got was a section with links to articles and a place to put my own CSS.
I appreciate your timeliness in getting back to me, and I also realize this comment thread is not the ideal place to seek support. =/

@bolvyk @aerta Nevermind, that link for DMS is so completely different from Platform as to be no help at all. I contacted Pagelines via Twitter, hopefully someone can direct me to the basic user manual for Platform theme. Le sigh.
@bolvyk @aerta Phew, thanks for this. I've installed Platform and all the Docs links are 404. Lots of great posts on using Pagelines, but pretty frustrating when just looking for basic definitions of various parts of the theme.
This is good advice. I would add:
1. The social media manager should understand your audience and be able to speak in the language of your audience.
2. They must be willing to offer consultation and coaching to get others at the company thinking about how they can contribute to social media (but that could come back to passion, I suppose).
3. Creativity is just as important as passion. Nothing goes viral without it.
I'm a publicist who has grown more and more involved in social media as the tradtional media is, erm, imploding. I wonder how long before the two job descriptions merge entirely.
