The Big 5 schools would leave the NCAA, and form there own governing body. Membership in the NCAA is not manadatory, if it was the NAIA would not exist.

I don't mind the weak FBS opponents, especially if there are historic or regional ties. I do however think SEC teams should stop scheduling FCS schools.

As a fan, I think I could get on board with this rule change, if the game clock was stopped during the 10 seconds of substitution time. Otherwise I think it gives an unfair advantage to a team that has the lead, especialy in the 4th quarter.
1 year, 1 month ago on Auburn’s Malzahn (No Surprise) Opposes Potential Rule Change To Slow Down Offenses
I think alot of the turn around in Texas A&M's recruiting can be expressed with three letters S. E. C.
Playing for a SEC team has certain benefits that playing for a BIG 12 team did not. For example in 2013 A&M had 11 nationally broadcast games, 1 regionally braodcast, and 1 on PPV. In the last year that A&M was in the BIG 12 they only had 2 or 3 natinally broadcast games and the rest were regionaly broadcast. Let's face it,the top ranked highschool talent is going to be attracted to schools that get national exposure.
1 year, 1 month ago on SEC Recruiting Notebook: Texas A&M’s Continues To Grow
I do not think Defensive coaches need to coach better, I think they need to stop recruiting linemen that are so heavy that they are winded after just a couple of plays.
Get better athletes, or develop a better conditioning program and they will not have to substitute players every down.

@MoKelly1 The simple answer is so that the coaching staff does not have to deal with the question "Why won't you let Johnny talk?" Johnny's family and lawyer do not have to do press conferences, Sumlin does. If Sumlin does get a question like that now, all he has to say is "we are respecting his families wishes".

@BonzaiB I completely agree the USC D (especially Clooney) looked like they were out of shape. Maybe it was just a fluke (I heard Clooney had a stomach bug), but if it wasn't I think USC might be in trouble later in the year.

I was more commenting on BonzaiB's post that he only saw the Aggies as a 9 win team. I was wondering who on A&M's schedule could hand the Aggies their third loss. You mentioned the Ole Miss game from last year above, however as you pointed out a year ago, for 3 1/2 quarters Johnny football looked like a red shirt freshman.

I'll give you Bama and LSU, but who else do you think can beat A&M ?
What i want to know is how did Arkansas drop one to SMU in 95. SMU was horrible back then.
1 year, 7 months ago on If Your Team Loses In Week One, History Says Forget Winning The SEC Title
That is actually why I was asking. From what I read the NCAA was investigating the large number of signed items for sale to see if Johnny was paid, it was ESPN that found people claiming to have paid Johnny for those items. Those same people said they would not talk to the NCAA.
Lots of smoke? Yes; Fire? Probably, but if the NCAA is not led to the fire do they have to find a loophole to let Johnny off?
P.S. I am so Johnny fatigued at this point I just want it over with one way or the other. I would be perfectly happy if we started Jockel, Davis or Hill this year.
1 year, 7 months ago on Does A&M’s Manziel Have A “Get Out Of Jail Free” Card? Let’s Look At The Rule Book
Is there some actual evidence against Johnny that I missed, or are we still dealing with anonymous sources that will only talk to ESPN reporters?
The thing I find so odd about this is how all of these brokers are so willing to talk to ESPN, yet they are unwilling to talk to the NCAA.
If you are not going to talk to, or give evidence to the governing body that can do something about the violation, why bring it up in the first place?
Or do I need to take my tin foil hat off?

1 year, 8 months ago on Football Season Is Here As Four SEC Squads Open Fall Practice Today
I think one thing that might help attendance is lower ticket prices. This is especially true of games against non-AQ teams or worse FCS teams.
Maybe attendance could be helped by some type of dynamic ticket pricing, where the schools start to discount their unsold seats as gameday gets closer.
1 year, 8 months ago on SEC Football Attendance Declines For Three Straight Years, But…
OK, I'll bite. Giving the "what if" senario of a Johnny Football transfer. I think the Aggies would have still done better than the 6-6 that most sports writers were predicting. Partly because so few people guess what would happen at Arkansas when Petrino was fired, how badly Mizzou would be hurt by injuries, or how far Auburn had fallen.
I think without Johnny, the Aggies would have been looking at an 8-4 regular season with a 4-4 conference record. Tell me my glasses ar Maroon if you like, but I really think strenght and conditioning (or lack of it in 2011) had a lot to do with the teams record.
1 year, 9 months ago on Source: Manziel – Suspended Before The 2012 Season – Nearly Transferred From A&M
My one complaint is you give credit to UF for creating "Local intrest" intrest in playing FIU an FAU, and you say that LSU should not have canceled a game against traditional rival Tulane. Then you say you are not impessed with the Aggies because they are playing three in state Non-AQ FBS teams. Two of those three were in the Southwest Confrenece with the Aggies and create tremedous intrest among the fan base (especially those of us old enough to have gone to A&M during the SWC days). Actually, even UTEP is an intresting game this year seeing as Showers will be their starting QB.
1 year, 9 months ago on UM, MSU: Masters Of Cupcakery… UGA, VU: SEC’s Toughest Schedulers
Is the SEC having an attendance problem, or a ticket sales problem?
If they are selling all of tickets, but people are not coming to all the games then it tells me people are willing to pay a premium to have seats to the good games. The solution to this problem is simply to schedule better games.
If they are not selling all the tickets, then not only should thy be scheduling better games, they should lower the cost of the tickets.
Now, If I could make the schedules I would have 10 conference games in 6-1-3 format. For the non conference games I would want at least one school from an AQ conference, and for the other I would like a FBS school of regional intrest (for example LSU vs. La Tech or A&M vs. SMU).
1 year, 10 months ago on SEC Gets Proactive With Attendance Issues… But It May Not Matter
I think a 10 game 6-1-3 format would be better. All schools would end up with 5 conference home games, and you would see every team in the conference at least twice in a four year period.
1 year, 10 months ago on LSU, Florida… Just Man Up And Stop Whining
The rumor I here, is that they are planing on leveling the 1920's footprint in stages and replace it with the new stadium. That would mean everything except "The Zone" which replaced the old 1924 horseshoe style end zone, in the early 2000's will be replaced. My guess is that the visitors section will get better simply because there is no longer a track that the seating has to be designed around.
As far as filling it, right now there is alot more demand, then there are seats (especially for conference games). They also have roughly 20,000 more students, then student seats, so I am sure a portion of the new seating will be for students.
For anyone who thinks that the university will not increase the student section, keep in mind that the university charged students $350 for a football sports pass in 2012 (which included tickets to all regualr season home games for all sports).
1 year, 11 months ago on Report: A&M To Expand Kyle Field To 102,000
Why is 14 such a problem? You are talking about an 11 game SEC schedule, why not go to 10 with a 6-1-3 format? 6 division games, 1 permenant cross division rival, and 3 rotating cross division games. In this format everyone would have 5 home and 5 away conference games, and teams would play every other team in the conference a minium of 2 times in a 4 year period. This format would also allow for 2 out of conference rivals or 2 cupcakes.

2 years ago on Reputation Is Everything For The SEC… In Football And In Basketball
Why no get radical and go to a 10 game conference schedule?
1. It would give each school 5 conference home games
2. With a 6-1-3 format you would play every school at least twice in a four year period.
On another, note I am all for some type of deal with the ACC, B1G, or Big 12 to play some type of rotating schedule.
2 years, 5 months ago on ACC Sticking With 8-Game Football Schedule As Rumors Of 9-Game SEC Slate Heat Up
The problem I see with all the drug policies is that they are left up to the schools. There needs to be a policy at least at the SEC level, and better yet at the NCAA level. I suspect a lot of the wiggle room built into these policies is because coaches/AD are concerned that the competition is playing by a different set of rules.

@I4Bama While I admit they look similar on my iPad, Aggie Maroon is definitely darker than Bama Crimson when you seen the uniforms side by side.
