okay....it's rose colored glasses here at MSTI - don't let a few facts bring you down...:)
come back to ME when you understand the point.
nothing was said about full strength - it was 'arguably most talented'.
**But quietly, the Dodgers just took a series from a Washington group which is arguably the most talented team in the league, **
That conveniently ignores the fact the Dodgers missed facing Gonzalez and Strasburg. Werth out, Harper missed 2 1/2 games, Ramos 1/2.
The Dodgers are thankfully showing signs of life, but they won a series from the Nats C-squad....which, of course, you know.
That's like staying married to a b*tch because you don't think you can attract anyone better. Good luck with that.
Uribe is hitting as well as Ethier, and Kemp has been MIA all year.
A Mattingly mistake is just as large as a Dee Gordon double pump. Bad plays, bad decisions, and bad strategies ALL contribute to losing. If you excuse Mattingly for being substandard, you have to excuse everyone else, IMO.
Then you're evading the point. Punto being 'the man' is not the issue. It's Mattingly's decision to take the bat out of TWO guys who have been hitting of late. Punto, and had he succeeded, Gonzalez. You can defend that strategy??
You're saying the Marlins would have pitched to Gonzalez with 1B open? Really?? Where is Mike Petriello, and who are you??
I don't suppose those 3 losses could matter?? Multiply that times 4 1/2 months to go - that's about 15 games, by your thinking.
I stopped reading the comment section long ago, so I apology if this has been discussed - and discussed. But...who exactly is doing the writing at MSTI these days??
For all your 'it won't make any difference' points, you never mention the number one complaint that most all Mattingly bashers have - his horrible M A N A G I N G - on field managing. There are half a dozen reasons why everyone in the country knew the bunt call w/ Punto was coming. Why? Because Punto has been one of the FEW Dodgers who has been hitting. We also knew that if Punto were successful - and he wasn't - that A-Gon [ the OTHER guy who can hit ] would be walked.
So why doesn't Mattingly? That's a serious question - why? According to DM after the game, he was quoted as saying he was trying to set the table for Gonzalez - and Kemp and Ethier.
For all your points, Mike, Donnie loses games as the guy at the control switch. That should be the reason he is fired - to get someone competent. Don Mattingly may be a great guy, and the recipient of Colletti rosters and horrible luck with injuries. That does not excuse him for making mistakes and never learning from them 3 years, and he's as bad as he's ever been. There is no growth period - this is Don Mattingly. And it blows.
I see what you did - in DOOB itablee
wake and bake my bro!
[arguably] no one sucks worse than Uribe.
Sellers has more HRs than anyone not named Kershaw and Ethier.....
Oh. Guess I can do w/out any further likes.
Far out! What do I do w/ it?
Props to Davey Lopes and the first base umpire for punking Carl Crawford on a 2-2 count.
Some play by Uribe in the first inning. He also did not look awful while batting. How a-bout that !
There are lots of informative baseball sites, including Dodger sites. This:
"Crawford is doing everything he can to return, even if that doesn’t include “throwing and hitting,” otherwise known as “playing baseball”.
is the type of writing that makes MSTI first stop for me.
Post - Oeltjen, Sands, Gibbons, Hoffman, Robinson, X-Paul outfield leaves me uninspired. I'm used to it.
