Really cool looking car. I remember as a kid passing every day going to school a Karmann Ghia and looking wondering what it was. After few years, the wheels just started to sink into the road and the windows were smashed. I was still looking at the car when, someday, the car was take it away. I remember my first thoughts were if I was to ever see a car like that again. I was, 15 years later when it was too expensive for my to buy...

Question - it is still pleasure in driving a F1 car or the politics, the pressure from teams/fans, money involved in the contract, etc., has taken away the fun of it?

Another one - It is fun or scary?

@somedisplayname @greenroadster  Well, I have a Soarer for track drifting and it's been a project for a long time and a lot of money. After years in working progress a thousands of euros, it would be stupid to kiss the firs wall, just for the fun of it. If you are rich or don't care about your car, you can always do that. But that has nothing to do with drifting. You know that drivers that crash in front of huge crowds that gather to see cool cars leaving some car shows? Just to show how cool they are. You are that driver my friend. I said just let those stunts to professionals in Formula Drift, not ruin your car at grassroots events. It's lame.

Yeah, why did you sell it Bryn? You didn't find out that some machines will live to regret selling them? Ask anybody.

When introduced the M4, BMW had put together a drive test in my city with all M cars. Although I drove the car with 270 kmh (legally if I may ad so because BMW had arrange with the highway police that it would be safe when traffic allowed us to floor it) well, actually, I kind of fell in love with the M6! It pulls harder, sounds better and feel planted on the road. Never the less, I can understand why it's faster the M4 around any track. Still, I prefer the M6 any day.

Funny fact - at 270 km/h, behind other M cars, my windshield cracked every 10-15 seconds. The huge rear tires had thrown so many little dust stones that, at the end of the day, the windshield looked almost white.

First of all, 458 is not a beautiful car. It has a pointy nose, it's to sharp and to fatty on the back, all wheels looks bad on this car, the tail lights are ugly and too small and inside is to flashy and cheap.

Want a beautiful car? Take a 250 GTO and put in it the engine, the gearbox and suspension of a 458 Italia.

That would be perfect.

2 weeks, 6 days ago on Discussion: Can You Make A Ferrari 458 Better Looking Than It Already Is?

Reply

While I totally get what is all about the 250 GTO, I wonder how much really this car would worth if were to make it today. If Ferrari were to build in 2014 a beautiful aluminium body, a 3 litre high compression engine with a manual dog-leg gearbox, no fancy electronics, big fat tires 2 seats car, it would be more than 200.000 euro's? I don't think so.

Further more, if Toyota or Volkswagen were to build the same car today, it would cost more than 60.000 euro's? I don't think so.

Of course that this GTO would probably worth more than the buyer paid next year. And it should. It's a great piece of history right there. But that kind of cars shouldn't be that exclusive in this days. Why nobody want to produce a car like that? Why in 2014 we all drive heavy cars with all the pleasures from our living room and all the passion of a lazy night watching soap opera?

1 month, 3 weeks ago on Project 991: Wheels, Tires, Brakes, Done!</br> For Now…

Reply

@leitev8  I don't agree. Pirelli are the best tires...for drifting. They tear apart quite evenly and they destroy all the rubber clean, with no wires sticking out to rub the wheel arch. After you clean them out of the rubber and you remain only with the steel wires, they are still safe to run until pit stop. In drifting, you don't wanna use Michelin or Hankook. They will destroy your wheel arches when they go "pop".

But for this 911.....yeah, they seem cheap. But then again, he lives in USA, maybe the rods are killing them easy.

Here's few thought's - While I understand Taryn for featuring this car here, and the cars looks great from the inside....well, I don't quite fully understand the driver/owner of this Camaro.

If I were to own such a car, I would drifted her all day. Or drag race her. Or use it for time attack. Or grip racing.

For what we see in these video, seems to me like an overkill. Taking a go-kart thru the same corners here would be such a great joy, more fun than the Camaro.

Question - is it a true life for a Camaro fully built to drive thru some cones on a airfield at a speed of no more than 80 mph?
