Well, today is my birthday and this is truly a nice gift from speedhunters. I'm still looking for an old 245 wagon with round headlights to modify....I hope they didn't all just died....
1 week, 2 days ago on Brick Heaven: <br />Our Top Volvo 240 Picks From Elmia
Few things come into my mind.
1.Didn't VW sell the Passat in US in 4Motion trim? That is a rear wheel drive car if you remove the front drive shafts and do a little trick in the diff/transfer case? Why bother and do all this conversion?
2.Why they didn't use a VW engine? They lost the hall idea! Don't tell me that its not powerful enough. They won WRC stages in a freakin' Polo!
3.When I firs heard the idea, I loved it. Somehow, they manage to ruin this for me. And I don't like it. Its ugly.
4.Again...What's wrong with a brand new VW Passat with 4Motion and beefed up W8 engine or a TFSI/Audi S8 powerplant?
Nothing. They took the easy way and lost the idea and a few fans along the way.
But, good luck Tanner!

Dino, not only that I love the Nissan Cedric, but I hope to see from you some love for the 1970-1990 big sedans from Japan.

While I do love this Escort and other rare Ford sport saloons, I don't relate a cool image to any of the models from Ford Company, Europe or US. For me and for all my friends in this part of the world, Ford is looked like a dull car, boring and slow, maybe ok built and possibly cheap to run. And that's it.

Doing stunts on two wheels with the X5, driving a wet circuit in a 330xD and doing some high speed pursuit in a M6 .... what's not to like?

@speedhunters_dino @jay8393 I guess Mercedes and Toyota were similar in the 80' - over engineered cars, built to last, massive production, strong sports cars.

@MariusEngenSkinnes 13 inch = 330 mm. After 295, you can have a 315mm section tires and then 335mm. I guess that this is the correct amount of stretch.
"Should Nakai stay Porsche only"...I don't think this is the wright question. I believe that Nakai-san can move the looks of a heavily modify Porsche into anything, a car, a truck, a fridge or a house. Porsche here, in Nakai-san philosophy its not a car. Is a feeling.
......how about tracking an M family engine (2M like the original would be great) and make him everything that you want from him - power and reliability together and a manual transmission? Lowrider but with coilovers not airlifts, wide steelies and stock and clean body. Hydraulic hand brake and welded diff. :))) Not a cruiser, just a sporty old wagon :))))

@Vittorio Jano That's a new one, I give you that! Make the car a hybrid......hmmmmm....
First of all, I would choose a Toyota engine. The car is too cool and rare to put an ordinary engine in there. Don't get me wrong, when I say ordinary I think of a common engine in USA and I don't say anything bad about performance or reliability of the engine.
If this would be my car I would choose a 2JZ-GE with A340E/A341E gearbox. And modify it to make 280 bhp N/A.
Mike, I really love your cars man!

@RDS ...because it's an old car and I haven't seen one with A/C in Europe...I guess. And in UK maybe you don't need A/C anyway.

Could it be that the 1JZ and 2JZ era will never fade? Seeing that the new engines are fragile and economical, could it be that the old school of engines will thrive many years to come in grassroots motorsport?

@AlexLobanov @Ben Schaffer I use 3mm sheet of lexan and it is great. Very strong. But they all scratch if you are not careful . You can use 2mm for fixed windows (rear) or 4 mm for the driver/passenger doors, to have less flex.
At least, I did it this way and I'm happy
