Are the Bears suffering from the Honey Bear Curse? After the 1985 season's dominant Super Bowl win, the McCaskey family disbanded the Honey Bears, as they didn't fit with the team's "tough" image. Since then, the Bears have not won another title. I am all in favor of ending this curse and bringing back the lovable Honey Bears. Like if you agree...

Hola boys and girls.
Recommended corrections to the article:
1. How many division titles under Lovie? It doesn't say the number.
2. Cutler trade was for only 1 3rd round pick (not 2) and the Bears did get a 5th rounder back in the deal. (2-1sts, 1-3rd, and Orton for Cutler and 1-5th).

Nice picture of a couple of squids trying to eat each other.....

@Gabes22 I know, its just funny to me that some people love to throw terms like Nazi and Communist at liberals....I would call it ironic to say the least. And I fully understand that rich people collect all kinds of ridiculous stuff...

@Nonstopdrivel They did overplay it, but I think the scary thing is how much money rolled into the state over this. Say what you will about union money, but Citizens United has ended all of that non-sense. Its one thing for a group representing 50,000 paying members to kick in a few million bucks, but for a couple of un-named guys (or gals) to throw $30+ million at a state election is pretty scary. This election cycle is gonna be sickening on so many levels.
Speaking of Nazis, did anyone see that Romney is having a big $$ fundraiser at a TX mansion where the table will be in the same room as 2 Hitler paintings and a signed copy of Mein Compf (sp?)?
@Mr._Horse Ripping up the cards so no one else can play is being competitive? Wow, for years I thought that was called throwing a temper tantrum. I guess I owe my son a big apology!
Any seen results of the Senate recalls from yesterday?
@Gabes22 This will be a second appeal, right? I don't think that is even allowed. Also, trying to use a case of another NFL player that got his suspension lifted because he was taking the same drug, but the use was continuous from prior to entering the NFL seems like a very weak case.
Jwoude...nice piece. The one thing that I don't like (and don't really know how to fix) is using averages of these rankings. The problem I see is that the Denver and KC games really bend that average up unrealistically. Yes, the Lions D did really well in those games, but those were also pretty horrible offenses (were they the lowest in NFL in the average D ranking against?). I think in the end, both before and after the injuries, Detroits D is good against bad opponents and bad against good opponents.

So Dikta is leading a team of current and former Bears onto the links for a friendly matchup with current and former Packers led by Lynn Dickey?
My money is on Da Bears! Its a shame Jim McMahon won't be participating...
C'mon, it would be fun to see broke, former NFL players out there in black and white officiating games. I can picture Warren Sapp in the backfield arguing with a QB about why he didn't throw a flag for a blatant late hit.

4. Allow the QB to change out of a bad play at the LOS - this was always the most frustrating thing about Martz's scheme. He thought he could force Ds out of rhythm with pre snap shifts and motion, causing them to change to what the O was doing. Sounds great on paper, but DC's knew this, and also knew that Martz probably had a slow developing play on, meaning that the D still had a high % chance to get to the QB.

3. Move the pocket around [something Martz AND Turner never did effectively] - using Cutler's athleticism to change the release point, slowing down the pass rush.
2. Give help where needed [another no-no from Martz] - too often Martz would put his guys on an island and refuse to give them help when it was obviously needed.
1. Shorter drops [bye bye to the Martz staple 7 step drops] - this will help the OL by shortening the time they have to hold ground.
I would rank the NFCN OLs last year Lions, Packers, Vikings, Bears. If you want to talk improvement, you have to start there. With that said, I think the Bears are the most likely to "improve" this season. They have the most room for improvement overall, that is a given. But watching them closely last year, they were very "Jeckyll and Hyde" for most of the season. People seem to forget that during the Bears 5 game win streak, that OL on surrendered 5 sacks. They also did a really good job run blocking for most of the season. They get back 2 1st round draft picks and added a big mauler OG (former 2nd round pick) to the group. Garza has a full year under his belt running this group. Tice has said this group can "get better" without getting better...meaning that play calling has a drastic affect on the performance. Some things Tice [has said he] will do that SHOULD help the OL:
@Childerz @Open Line Friday at 3:30 CT Have you seen some of the stuff that state legislatures (TX I think is the worst one) are legislating in and out of school text books? Its scary how much of America completely disregards scientific evidence on so many issues.

@Open Line Friday at 3:30 CT @þ (The artist formerly known as natesweet72) I don't think they try to make it terrifying to get out, I just think that both political parties enjoying using the military as a bargaining chip. The problem is when it comes to pay issues, both sides seem to be arguing the same position. Its so funny when they talk about public unions b/c we are like the biggest public union out there.
@Open Line Friday at 3:30 CT @þ (The artist formerly known as natesweet72) I have gotten into many arguments, mostly with service members wifes about that very thing. And don't get me started on the untouchable retirement system.
