BTW, I find the arguements about not adding another school in a given georgraphy interesting. There are two key principles in marketing, reach and market share. Although the SEC has Florida which gives them the reach in the Flordia market, adding FSU would give them much more market share overall. This is true in Texas. Texas is the market leader, but Texas A&M has a significant #2 market share in a large population and high demand market. The real reason the SEC doesn't want FSU is more about UF not wanting to compete in their backyard.

FSU announced last year that they were forming a conference exploration committee. I also believe it was FSU and Maryland that tried to limit the exit penalities with the ACC too.
I agree that if FSU joined gthe Big 12, it would help 4 Texas schools and Oklahoma in recruiting in Florida. It also would provide FSU recruiting opportunities in the two largest football states, which keeps it on par with Florida and Texas A&M having access to the two largest football states. If FSU could get other ACC schools to go with them and form an eastern division of the Big 14 or Big 16, then it would work. If that happens, the SEC will get their team(s) from North Carolina and Virginia to complete their league and the Big 10 would finally expand into the NE USA.
Seems like Texas A&M and Mizzou are in the hunt SEC! If their recruits indicate future success, these programs will fit in nicely.

I think coach Sherrill should shut his mouth. Coach Sherrill won in football at Texas A&M and we dominated Texas for many years because of it, but he also tarnished the entire program because he cheated. I don't disagree with his comment, but he doesn't have the credibility to critique anyone in the football world after what he did. It took coach Slocum with big time integrity to overcome coach Sherrill's mess.

The Big Ten is ridiculous. They have been playing games like this for years. For the record, I am a graduate of both Iowa and Texas A&M, so I have a dog in the hunt on both sides of the fence. If the Big 10 wants conference champions, then let's all expand to four superconferences and call it a day. No problem at that time, In the meantime, the best four teams should go which tends to favor conference champions anyway.
The Rose Bowl should not get special treatment. If they wish their traditional rivalry, then they get what is left over after the playoffs are seeded OR they allow any team to play in the Rose Bowl in years that they host a playoff game. There should be no further compromise.
Delaney is smart to round his troops with the Pac 12 and little conferences to bully their position. That is how they operate because at the end of the day, this is a business battle about who has the most money, prestige, brand power, and market share.
