It's funny, when Saito debuted his 1000hp Chaser in D1 there wasn't half as big a power war as there has been in FD these past few years. I guess it's just the way things are done in the respective countries. In Japan the emphasis seems to be on mastering car control, whereas in the US the attitude seems to be 'I can't compete with him unless my car is on a par'. Which means everyone is now chasing ridiculous power figures because they feel like they'll get thrashed with a lower power car.
In reality, the only reason people get beaten by high power cars is the initial drag race kills any chance of a decent chase run. Therefore, I think the answer to capping power levels is to stop the drag racing aspect of the sport that I dislike so much.

I'd really like to know where the additional 2-300kg have been added over the original Group C car. The only things I can see that would add a lot of extra weight are the non-carbon fibre bodywork and turbos and their ancillaries, but a fair amount of that increase will be negated by the Audi block being lighter. I'm stumped.

As much as I hate seeing money find it's way to grids instead of talent, as long as there are drivers with money lining up, teams will put them in their cars. Increasing costs will always dictate this, so the only other alternative, in F1 at least, is a budget cap, and we all know how controversial that idea is.

I really think that the Euro and US GT series could learn a lot from Super GT. Instead of GT1 cars just being V8 versions of GT3 cars, I'd love to GT500 style cars racing there. Still recognisable as road cars, but a step above, like GT1 was back in the late 90's.

Also, it's no surprise that that Mustang goes faster than Kremer 935s nowadays, seeing as an original Kremer is worth several times what that Mustang is worth. @Mark Reyes Incorrect lol. 2 seconds is a big gain for one team, I agree. There was a 5.2 second difference between first and last in F1 qualifying at the Hungaroring and that's in one of the strictest formulae in motorsport. 2 seconds gain for all that aero seems very, very disappointing over what looks to be pretty basic, tried and tested aero on the Tilton Interiors Evo.
