I don't want to get rid of Ellis. He has value - his usage rate just really needs to come down, and his bat doesn't justify riding him hard.

I wouldn't given a shit about his AVG if he was still getting on base 35% of the time with a little pop. His defense is poor, his offense is worse. I think it's clear that his health isn't there.

I've also never understood how he gets such a comparative free pass

I was thinking more as a FA.

That said, I am wondering what we can do to improve the situation. FedEx isn't the answer, though perhaps spelling Ellis more would be help his production? I think a lot of this is Ellis having a ton of miles on the clock. Limiting him to about 100 games might really make a difference

Ellis is a liability at this point. Reminds me a bit of what happened to Reggie Willits when the league started throwing him decent strikes. I'm happy to have A.J. as Kershaw's personal catcher, but we need an upgrade

Dave Stewart needs to eat shit and die.  Kemp doesn't need an agent for a while now, so he can take his time finding a new one.

And the reason they traded Konerko is because Karros, a clearly inferior player, was blocking him

@TellMyWifeISaidHello The point isn't to hurt someone, its to send a message.  Or whatever.  Then again, I love the way Bob Gibson and Pedro Martinez handled stuff like this.

I like Ellis.  Seems like a lovely guy, with a funny wife, a good batting eye and is religious without constant proselytizing.  He's an enhanced backup.  A guy you play 2-2.5 days a week.  We should get Russell Martin back.

Another amazing Kershaw stat - .295.  That's his BABIP.  Its the highest of his career, with the exception of his rookie season, and is probably an high end outlier - given his propensity to make guys pop up.

So so good.
