how does multiwindow work exactly?
@adomanico01 yea i mean aside from things related to my work (composing music), 99% of everything else i do happens in chrome anyway. that's why i'm such a big fan of the idea of the chromebook as my "everything else" work computer... i'd just need to find a simple recording thing for the podcasts to do on the go. chrome on my macbook pro runs terrible. no complaints about it on my windows 7 pc. i'm looking to get rid of the macbook and am between a windows 7/8 laptop or a chromebook if i could find a good simple multitrack recording web app.
@adomanico01 @Haloruler64 oh god that's been the biggest hurdle in getting my parents onto chromebooks. they'll be IN chrome and ask me "where's the blue e that i'm supposed to click on to get to facebook?"
@Haloruler64 @adomanico01 right that's what i'm saying. i don't know of one yet, but i'm looking. there's already fairly good enough photoshop alternatives. i'd just need a good enough DAW alternative. so far i'm not seeing one.
also just so it's clear, i don't think anyone other than 60+ year olds should have one as their main computer haha. but for a secondary computer, they're pretty freaking awesome.
@adomanico01 it IS, but it's different too. not sure if you've used one, but the samsung ones run really freaking great and do what they're supposed to do perfectly. unlike my macbook pro and my pc. which have little issues and complications here and there.
i would absolutely buy one (especially when you factor in that google drive space) if i could record my work's podcast on it. but i don't think theres any good chrome os software for doing that?
i do agree though that this is very much moving away from what the goal of the chromebook line seemed to be. still an awesome looking device though. my dad's chromebook runs SO much better than my macbook pro it's not even funny.
And THERE IT IS! My new laptop. I love the Samsung Chromebook I got my dad and I've always said that if they make one with a higher res display with touch, I'm all over it. Even better would be a detachable tabletscreen / hybrid, but this will do. Just hope the price is right.
is this just the international version like with that hack thing last week?
I wonder if my Rock case will still fit.
128gb of storage is what i'm waiting for. the biggest problem with the current generation of phones is the internal storage size. my galaxy s3 has 16gb, of which i think what, 9 or 10 was usable. i can't even bother with having music/movies on my device because it's all taken up with games. i'm constantly having to delete games to install new ones. yea i have a 64gb microSD which I can put my music on (not spotify music though unfortunately because they stupidly removed that feature for some reason), but we all know how crappy android runs once you start moving games/apps to the sd card (i know technically any app/game that doesn't have a widget SHOULD be safe to move to SD but I've found as soon as I start moving stuff, thats when the issues arise, and this is over the course of 4 different Android phones). 128gb is far from overboard. now 3gb ram, i don't know if that's completely necessary haha.
yes yes yes yes yes
@kanoneyez of course its for samsung but its all a matter of making stupid decisions that got them to this point. All these little things that are clearly iOS like. Most people probably see S Voice and think "Oh they have a Siri too" ... If they had named it differently though it would stand more on its own as a completely original thing. Hey I love android, that's why I read the site, but Samsung is messing up.
Nothing like? Siri... S voice... Nothing at all? Just saying... They could have at least called it like Galaxy Voice or G Voice or something...
pleeeeease come out soon. my mytouch4g slide is restarting like 10 times a day. sick of this thing.
100% agree with this post. The battery percentage and changing my "Genius" button to a regular old google search button were the main reasons I rooted my MyTouch4g Slide.
@Brooks Barnard while a nandroid backup is great for what it is (a backup), i always worry i'm just gonna have the same issues if i restore my backup and continue on from there since i'm dealing with a not 100% stable rom to begin with haha. other than backing up i can't think of a reason i'd want to root other than if the phone itself sucked in the first place (which is unfortunate, like is the case with my mytouch4g slide).
just commented on the facebook post and figured i'd copy it over here too... 3 rooted android phones and so far the ROMs barely do a thing to help. i completely agree with this editorial... here's what I said on facebook for anyone that cares:
Couldn't agree more with this Editorial. It always ends up being more trouble than its worth. I spend hours and hours reading the forums wasting my time so I can flash a ROM so everything will work amazingly for a week or two before it goes back to the same old issues. Someone will likely respond and say "then you're not doing it right" or "you're loading it up with crap" but I have a total of 68 apps loaded (including the preinstalled ones) which I think is absolutely nothing compared to what I'd like to have installed on my $600 phone (I'm constantly deleting games and stuff that I'd really rather not remove) and have tons of issues on my current phone. Only reason I haven't wiped it yet because it's too much of a pain in the ass to set everything back up and I know that the issues will just start up again after a couple weeks anyway, so I'm waiting it out until my next phone which I will not root.
god i hope its real and as good as it sounds. i will hold onto qwerty for 2 more years if it kills me!
@TommyDaniel me too
knowing t-mobile we'll probably get the iphone 4s. right next to our 7 months late galaxy note. sigh...
