Most iPhone concepts are really bad. I do like this one. The OS looks bad of course but it is "flat" as Ive said he wanted to do it.

This isn't the first building Steve Jobs designed. He also designed Pixars headquarters. But this has to be the most ambitious office building yet.

I am a bit worried though. The Sagrada Familia cathedral had to suffer a lot of changes after it's architect Gaudi died. No one knew how to solve problems that appeared during construction without compromising the design. Gaudi would have figured out a way but the wasn't there. The Sagrada Familia is now one of the ugliest buildings on the planet. Small changes affect design in a big way.

I hope the same thing doesn't happen to Jobs office building.

For a second there I thought they were delaying the movie to iron out some details after the harsh reaction that everyone had towards the clip they released earlier this year.

But when I read about the "marketing and hype" it instantly became clear that what they actually want to do it wait until people stop talking about it. Because all they're saying now is "this movie will be a piece of crap".

Seriously, they should have called it "Dude, where's my Mac"

I'm curious why the US is always behind on processor power with the Galaxy S Series. Usually the crap products make it to Romania, this time it's us that will be getting the 8 core CPU and the US that's going to be getting a 4 core CPU.

I don't think the 8 core CPU is that much better, but that's not the point. Why have two hardware variants simply based on location? I mean I get is the CDMA version has to have a lower CPU, maybe the battery can't handle more or whatever. But having two different GSM versions is just stupid.

About the specs... it's a classic case of the innovator lagging behind. It happened to Palm back in the day. First the Treo phones were the fastest and the best on the market, then, after years and years they began to lag behind. Slower CPUs, missing hardware like wifi and 3G and so on.

Hopefully Apple will have a better faith then Palm in the mobile space. I'm very intrigued by the new features of the S IV but I wouldn't just yet switch to Android. However if the next generations of iPhones don't pick up the pace Android phones might just become good enough to switch. And by that I mean "good enough in the areas where IOS excels", like stability, performance and integrated features.

We'll see.

@mhtruth Those issues are a bit blown out of proportion. I have an iPhone 4 that never had signal issues. I'm sure that the iPhone 4 once had a problem, but they probably fixed it in later batches of the model.

It also does not shatter easily. I smashed mine on the ground (long story), the metal band on the side got bend so bad that headphones did not fit in the jack anymore but the screen or the back didn't shatter.

I have yet to see a truly awesome iPhone concept. So far all of them were impractical, in-aesthetic  or plain right stupid. This one is no different. It looks like a Galaxy S III.

iPhone "concept design" makers are usually untalented people that crave attention. If any of them would have been any good they would have actually been working for Apple or any other big tech company.

That article smells fishy,  don't get me wrong, I'm an Apple fan boy. I have an iPhone 4 and I'm typing this from my 21.5 inch late 2012 iMac.

But the Apple maps are still horrible. Tonight I've been invited at a friends birthday party. He's going to hold it at a club called "Que Pasa". I opened Apple maps on my iPhone and searched for it. Apple pointed me to some God forsaken town 7.324 km away from my location. Google Maps pointed me to the exact location of the club, in Bucharest (where I live) and also offered me a street view of the location, providing turn by turn spoken navigation. There is no contest. Apple Maps will never have as many locations on it as Google Maps, and that's its weakness.

Maybe Apple will make it's maps ok for the US, but last I checked the iPhone ships world wide. And the only world wide services that I have on my iPhone are from Google.

@rhymiZ Apple is doing really good. They stil are the most valuable and profitable company on the planet. It's not like they're going bankrupt.

And a cheaper iPhone does not offer the edge over the competition. And Apple is what it is for offering better quality, not lower prices.

If they make a cheap iPhone, that's when Samsung wins.

If Apple wants to become a mediocre company, then yeah, they should go for it. When did Apple ever have budget products? That's right. Never. Why? Because value is different from price.

Apple never competes on price, because they can compete on quality.

They make huge profits, why on earth would they want to launch a budget phone? What's wrong with making the iPhone 4 cheaper?

This worries me. Making a cheaper iPhone is the easiest way to increase profits. Making a new product, or making the next iPhone better is the hard way and the only way Apple does things.

Tim Cook is beginning to look like a bozo.

Bill has shareholders in mind. Immagine the headline "Gates family uses Apple products".

Plus, Gates and Balmer never really understood what makes people want Apple products. They see no reason why their children would want them. In this respect their own kids understand the industry better, this is what Jobs was referring to when he said Microsoft has no taste.

I think it's also personal. After all it must suck for your own children not to want your products.

But lets not cry them a river, when I was a child I would have never dreamt of having any kind of high tech gadget or computer. I would have been happy with any, Apple or not. And I was, my first PC was a 5x86 computer, the Pentium 3 had already come out but I didn't care.

@thenew3 Because Apple really needs it. They wouldn't ban it. And if they did ban it Google could go public about it and win the hearts and minds of a lot of Apple users.

It would be a disaster for Apple to ban a Google Maps app right now. Plus, I can't find a link, but it was Google that announced that they won't be making an IOS maps app in the foreseeable future, right after they announced that they were working on it.

Apple deserves it. There should be more ads like this. I'm an iPhone user, ever since IOS 6 I can't find anything anymore. They should have left the old Google Maps, even without navigation I had more use for the maps then I do now.

But I'm not going to get converted to Android for this. Sure, Apple pissed me off but I still like IOS, I keep hoping that Google will make a Google Maps app. They made one for every other phone, hell, I even have Google Maps on an ancient Blackberry 8310.

It's ok for all those other phones but no, not for the iPhone. That doesn't make me trust Google or Android more, I don't like being pressured to switch. If Google just made the damn app I might think that: "look, Apple screwed up but good old Google is reliable as always" but no, good old Google is laughing while I have no maps.

I'm not an american and I appreciate this. Steve Jobs used to take pride in the fact that Apple products were made in U.S.A. so I don't know why people would bitch about this.

Steve only chose chinease manufacturers because of their flexibility and while Steve ran Apple the company wasn't yet rich enough to pull a move like this.
