Any company can fail due to lack of innovation. But that's not the case for Apple. It's not like the smartphone marked has dramatically changed and Apple missed the bus. The current smartphone revolution that we are living today was after all started by Apple with the original iPhone. No other company has revolutionised the smartphone since. Everybody is making variations of the original iPhone. Remember the smartphone market before the iPhone? It was very different. The iPhone is a competitive device. In many areas it's still unbeaten. The latest iPhone (the 5S) brings features that people actually want and will use, the camera alone is enough for many to want that phone.Sales will slow down when the smartphone market is finally saturated. And Apple can only "be doomed" if another company creates another smartphone revolution and Apple will not catch up fast enough. Many people think that Apple is lost without Steve Jobs and in that respect I have a few concerns as well. But until another "Steve Jobs" will make it to the top of another company, Apple will still beat the rest.

How many Galaxy S4 products are there?! This is why I bought a Nexus 4. There's like one smartphone. The Nexus 4. That's it.
That's why, until I had the Nexus, I had an iPhone 4. Devices with character, created for a purpose.

That is some seriously screwed up product naming. It's a digital camera that's called exactly like the phone... except for a "zoom" as the last word. How can people tell it appart from the Galaxy S4 Mini. That's a phone.
So.. Galaxy S4 Zoom = Camera, Galaxy S4 Mini = underpowered phone and Galaxy S4 = flagship phone. Really?
This is why Samsung sucks.

Apple didn't push all those technology trends forward. Steve Jobs did (along with a very gifted dream team of engineers). And he wasn't the only one, he just pushed more innovations then others and marketed himself and his company better.
I don't think Tim Cooks opinion should be a benchmark just yet. He has yet to prove himself as a tech visionary, all he did so far was to make Apple a very rich company. Steve Jobs never really tried that, he just wanted a company capable of realising his vision and increasing his ego. Not making the maximum amount of money was a statement that proved to also be a good business model (which Apple doesn't fully follow any more).
Steve's comments on the future of technology were valid because he was almost always proven right. Tim Cook never really predicted anything until now. There's no telling if his views reflect reality. And if they don't we don't know if he has the strength to make reality fit his views, like Steve did.
I wouldn't count Google Glass out just yet.

This isn't the first building Steve Jobs designed. He also designed Pixars headquarters. But this has to be the most ambitious office building yet.
I am a bit worried though. The Sagrada Familia cathedral had to suffer a lot of changes after it's architect Gaudi died. No one knew how to solve problems that appeared during construction without compromising the design. Gaudi would have figured out a way but the wasn't there. The Sagrada Familia is now one of the ugliest buildings on the planet. Small changes affect design in a big way.
I hope the same thing doesn't happen to Jobs office building.

For a second there I thought they were delaying the movie to iron out some details after the harsh reaction that everyone had towards the clip they released earlier this year.
But when I read about the "marketing and hype" it instantly became clear that what they actually want to do it wait until people stop talking about it. Because all they're saying now is "this movie will be a piece of crap".
Seriously, they should have called it "Dude, where's my Mac"

I'm curious why the US is always behind on processor power with the Galaxy S Series. Usually the crap products make it to Romania, this time it's us that will be getting the 8 core CPU and the US that's going to be getting a 4 core CPU.
I don't think the 8 core CPU is that much better, but that's not the point. Why have two hardware variants simply based on location? I mean I get is the CDMA version has to have a lower CPU, maybe the battery can't handle more or whatever. But having two different GSM versions is just stupid.
About the specs... it's a classic case of the innovator lagging behind. It happened to Palm back in the day. First the Treo phones were the fastest and the best on the market, then, after years and years they began to lag behind. Slower CPUs, missing hardware like wifi and 3G and so on.
Hopefully Apple will have a better faith then Palm in the mobile space. I'm very intrigued by the new features of the S IV but I wouldn't just yet switch to Android. However if the next generations of iPhones don't pick up the pace Android phones might just become good enough to switch. And by that I mean "good enough in the areas where IOS excels", like stability, performance and integrated features.

@mhtruth Those issues are a bit blown out of proportion. I have an iPhone 4 that never had signal issues. I'm sure that the iPhone 4 once had a problem, but they probably fixed it in later batches of the model.
It also does not shatter easily. I smashed mine on the ground (long story), the metal band on the side got bend so bad that headphones did not fit in the jack anymore but the screen or the back didn't shatter.

I have yet to see a truly awesome iPhone concept. So far all of them were impractical, in-aesthetic or plain right stupid. This one is no different. It looks like a Galaxy S III.
iPhone "concept design" makers are usually untalented people that crave attention. If any of them would have been any good they would have actually been working for Apple or any other big tech company.
That article smells fishy, don't get me wrong, I'm an Apple fan boy. I have an iPhone 4 and I'm typing this from my 21.5 inch late 2012 iMac.
But the Apple maps are still horrible. Tonight I've been invited at a friends birthday party. He's going to hold it at a club called "Que Pasa". I opened Apple maps on my iPhone and searched for it. Apple pointed me to some God forsaken town 7.324 km away from my location. Google Maps pointed me to the exact location of the club, in Bucharest (where I live) and also offered me a street view of the location, providing turn by turn spoken navigation. There is no contest. Apple Maps will never have as many locations on it as Google Maps, and that's its weakness.
Maybe Apple will make it's maps ok for the US, but last I checked the iPhone ships world wide. And the only world wide services that I have on my iPhone are from Google.

@rhymiZ Apple is doing really good. They stil are the most valuable and profitable company on the planet. It's not like they're going bankrupt.
And a cheaper iPhone does not offer the edge over the competition. And Apple is what it is for offering better quality, not lower prices.
If they make a cheap iPhone, that's when Samsung wins.
1 year, 11 months ago on Cheaper iPhone launching in 2013 with $99-$149 retail price according to Bloomberg
If Apple wants to become a mediocre company, then yeah, they should go for it. When did Apple ever have budget products? That's right. Never. Why? Because value is different from price.
Apple never competes on price, because they can compete on quality.
They make huge profits, why on earth would they want to launch a budget phone? What's wrong with making the iPhone 4 cheaper?
This worries me. Making a cheaper iPhone is the easiest way to increase profits. Making a new product, or making the next iPhone better is the hard way and the only way Apple does things.
Tim Cook is beginning to look like a bozo.
Bill has shareholders in mind. Immagine the headline "Gates family uses Apple products".
Plus, Gates and Balmer never really understood what makes people want Apple products. They see no reason why their children would want them. In this respect their own kids understand the industry better, this is what Jobs was referring to when he said Microsoft has no taste.
I think it's also personal. After all it must suck for your own children not to want your products.
But lets not cry them a river, when I was a child I would have never dreamt of having any kind of high tech gadget or computer. I would have been happy with any, Apple or not. And I was, my first PC was a 5x86 computer, the Pentium 3 had already come out but I didn't care.

2 years ago on Samsung Takes A Jab At Apple Maps
@KevinMCom @thenew3 I'm all to aware of everything you just said. That doesn't change Googles current position.
@thenew3 Because Apple really needs it. They wouldn't ban it. And if they did ban it Google could go public about it and win the hearts and minds of a lot of Apple users.
It would be a disaster for Apple to ban a Google Maps app right now. Plus, I can't find a link, but it was Google that announced that they won't be making an IOS maps app in the foreseeable future, right after they announced that they were working on it.
Apple deserves it. There should be more ads like this. I'm an iPhone user, ever since IOS 6 I can't find anything anymore. They should have left the old Google Maps, even without navigation I had more use for the maps then I do now.
But I'm not going to get converted to Android for this. Sure, Apple pissed me off but I still like IOS, I keep hoping that Google will make a Google Maps app. They made one for every other phone, hell, I even have Google Maps on an ancient Blackberry 8310.
It's ok for all those other phones but no, not for the iPhone. That doesn't make me trust Google or Android more, I don't like being pressured to switch. If Google just made the damn app I might think that: "look, Apple screwed up but good old Google is reliable as always" but no, good old Google is laughing while I have no maps.
That sounds cool, maybe nou people will actually start using Google +

Irrelevant. Apple learned a long time ago that value is different from price and that's what defines them. I wouldn't be surprised if Tim Cook makes some strange choices but a cheaper iPhones seams impossible.

You don't see long lines in front of Apple distributors in Romania (we have no Apple Stores). And there seams to be no shortage of Apple products here. Even the new iMac is rumoured to actually become available by the end of November.
However, people can't really afford Apple products. Most people who buy an iPhone today, buy an iPhone 4. The iPhone 5 is very expensive and many wait for their contracts to expire before upgrading, so, no iPhone 5 launch madness.
But maybe that's just it. All the countries are now supplied fast. The iPhone 5 was supposed to come to Romania in December, it's been here for a while now, maybe Apple is facing a grate demand because unlike previous years, it's selling new Apple products everywhere very fast. Previously we in Romania had to wait for months before new products made it here.

Why are you even writing for an Apple focused blog? You sound like an Android fan bashing Apple for "lagging behind" and "not innovating anymore". They've been the only company to really innovate throughout recent history. You can't expect them to change the game all the time.
Yeah they've been less innovative but all their products are evolving, the new iMac looks grate, it may not be the next big thing but it's a good product (well unless it turns out having some major flaw, but I don't think it will).
Apple computers have been evolving into better price / performance, the lowest mac mini model is reasonably cheap and it comes with decent specs.
The iPad mini is not a revolution, I wouldn't even call it evolution but it seams to be doing grate.
The company is still ahead of everyone, after using a 2010 Macbook Pro for about two weeks all the other laptops feel like toys. The plastic Galaxy S III seams like a great device but honestly, it's not game changing, I'd rather hold on to my iPhone. Maybe the Nokia Lumia could offer the same built quality as an iPhone but IOS is a stable ecosystem where everything works. Windows Phone 8 is not. It's in it's infancy.
Now, will Apple remain ahead? For a while sure, but eventually everyone else will make great products too, Android is quite good these days and it can certainly get a lot better. But honestly, until someone comes up with a product that changes any industry that Apple has changed in the past, I'd say Cupertino has nothing to worry about.
Stocks were too high, no one expected them to grow more so demand shrunk, and with less demand comes a lower price. It's not rocket science.
Tim Cook still needs to prove that he can deliver a game changing product but there's still plenty of time for that. Steve Jobs was unique, not everyone can change the game once every few years. Perhaps until the next incredible visionary comes along, no one will, but it will be pretty hard for Apple to "Lag behind".

Classic example of "their product sucks more then ours". I see this every day with the politicians in my country. They can't say something good about themselves, if accused of corruption, for example, they will say that the opposing party is corrupt, without actually confronting the accusation.Nokia's "Beta phone" campaign was sort of like that. So are these comics.I don't care that the iPhones screen doesn't react to gloves (actually the iPhones 5 might work just fine), I want to know why your device is good.
