@DwatsSorry if you felt that way, you are entitled to your opinion.  If you read through my review you will see that I reference the other Jackass films as comparison and have positive things to say about the franchise and genre of the films.

"While the Jackass franchise was not everyone’s cup of tea, I enjoyed the mindless humor, antics, and social interaction that was present in all of the films."

Also my take on the plot was that it was wasted time and added unneeded time to the film.  I did not discredit the film for its poor plot, it was because the plot took away from the film's purpose.

I enjoyed/enjoy many slapstick comedies and films like this, the other Jackass films, Borat, Bruno, etc.  Just because a film falls into this category it doesn't mean it should not be critiqued.

I offer an opinion and if you don't agree with my opinion that's fine, but if you are going to disagree, at least disagree with an intelligent response rather than resorting to insults, otherwise it just discredits your own opinion.

@Nada Superman is more than Christopher Reeve, and he wasn't the first to take the role, just the most memorable.  Superman was established in the comic book long before Reeve.  By your logic you would be asking Hollywood to dismiss any attempt at any adaptation or re-imagining of any iconic character.  Adam West was popular as Batman, followed by Michael Keaton who redefined the role, followed by a Schumacher slump, and then a complete re-imagining of the franchise by Christopher Nolan.

If you ask someone to stop aspiring to something greater, you are preventing them from becoming a master of their craft.  Who knows what the future will bring for these characters?  Sure Hollywood exploits the hell out of these cash-cows now, but somewhere along the lines, the public is going to see the next re-imagining that redefines their expectations of the role.

I wouldn't care what race they are as long as it's consistent.  If Johnny is one race and Sue is another then there is an issue explaining their biological relationship as siblings.  I personally want Sue and Johnny as brother/sister, Reed and Sue as husband/wife or lovers, and Ben as Reed's best friend.  That dynamic relationship builds towards what the Fantastic Four are.

@Elliot Hopper If they are smart, then the chances are good.  If you have a bunch of disconnected villains with different motives we're going to run into another "Spider-Man 3" problem.  If all of these villains are going to pose a threat, they need to form an alliance around a single goal so that there isn't loads of side plots that are rushed through.

@burywmore I didn't mention Cinemascore at all nor did I use it to gauge any sort of review of the film.  If you don't like the film that's fine, but you need to at least make a case for your argument.

Your argument is that the script fails because it lacks realism regarding destruction versus the loss of life and Superman is a moron for bringing villains to the city.

I think you need to watch the film again and come back with another argument.  First, there was life lost, they showed it as buildings collapsed, cars were overturned, etc.  If you're looking for a bloodbath then yes, you're correct, the streets should have been covered in blood and gore but I don't think that would be too appealing for what this film is trying to accomplish.

As far as Superman bringing the villains to Metropolis, their own agenda brought them there.  I won't reveal any spoilers but if you watch the film again, you'll see what I'm talking about.

@Alan316 Like I said, we appreciate any comments good or bad.  Thanks for your input, we do appreciate true discussion.

Based off your points though, I can agree with you to an extent.  When writing for the viewers who know nothing about than the film other than media circulating the web, there are areas of the review that will be vague.

From your perspective, you could also argue that the trailers for the film itself are misleading by misrepresenting characters in the film which is worth addressing.

@Alan316 I think proper grammar could be your friend as well.  What I've gathered from your grammatically challenged rant is that you think we are blogging from our yachts sipping champagne and that we missed one of the most apparent and controversial elements of the film.

We are aware of The Mandarin, what he represents in the film, and why he is what he is in the film.  The reason we do not go into detail about The Mandarin as he is represented in the film is because that is a MAJOR SPOILER and it is not fair to reveal that to our readers.  If you would like a plot synopsis please check out a spoiler site.

We encourage disagreement and expect it as these are our opinions.  What we hope is that we give our readers an informative analysis prior to their viewing.  If our opinion is in line with the thoughts of the reader then great, but if not then we still encourage discussion which is what we love.

Feel free to challenge us at any point, we love to read your comments, good or bad, just please properly prepare your comments by fully reading the post so you don't miss something.  Thanks.

@JonHedoesIt Everyone is entitled to their opinion but playing to simple, stereotypical elements are typical in this film.  Like I stated, the plot is simple, which would account for the lack of dramatic effect that you described.  If you or someone else didn't recognize this film's intentions, I could see how you would describe it as boring.

@Elliot Hopper It was definitely a surprise, but 8 or 9 would still seem a little high for me, but I can definitely see it affecting others in a way where they might score it that high.

The Twilight reference actually came from the buzz surrounding it around the web.  Many were expecting this to be Summit's version of Twilight to keep the momentum going.

Ha, you beat me to the punch on this.  I understand your dislike of Abrams and I think that it's a love/hate relationship I have with him as well because expectations are so high due to his talents.  To be honest, I can't think of another director that would make me more excited about the franchise.

If we can get the same effort for the new Star Wars trilogy that we got from Star Trek, I think this could be very exciting times for the franchise (despite the rushed production schedule).  I can see some amazing space battles and I have faith in his abilities in sci-fi story telling but I am curious to see how the lightsaber choreography turns out.  I'm just glad they finally have a director!

@colinskim It's called ACTING.  Women play men, men play women, adults play children, and honestly your comment holds no weight towards any sort of a review.  The roles they play are ageless in regards to the plot and theme and even if they were specified as being 15 years apart in the film, I would still say your point is moot.  The on-screen chemistry was there, that's what matters.

Christmas lists are going to be different for everyone because it goes beyond the quality of the film, it's the Christmas experience that people relate to those films.  I have a particular experience that is associated with each one of those films and that is how I composed my list.

**SPOILER ALERT**  Do  not read below if you haven't seen this film.Hey John,

Great review but I would disagree with your perspective of Bardem's character.  You said that towards the end you felt his character became more foolish and I agree with that but I see a reasoning for this.  His character's power lies in technology where he is practically invincible.  Bond realizes this and it is why he brings the battle to an unfamiliar environment that is absent of technology, which gives Bond the advantage.  Anyone outside of their element would seem foolish and since the villain's strength lied in technology, he resorts to guns, explosives, and manpower.  I recognize that the character loses his invincibility towards the end, but I think it is intended based on Bond's plan.
