Let Pinterest be Pinterest -  Besides, Pinterest is an 'open' social network (I dont need to friend you to see your pins, and vice versa, and I can see anybody's activity) and Facebook is not quite as open on purpose so the 'Social Models' are not exactly a perfect fit as of now. Does everything need to be owned by Google and FB? I hope not.
