What do you think about the start of the season so far Vince? I think the hitters are still trying to get their legs underneath them and I think we may see a hitting explosion within the next couple of weeks.

Hear! Hear! I have said this about Matt and that blasted home plate play until I am blue in the face. Kevin Kennedy said Matt is on a mission. If he can get and stay healthy this season, we could be looking at an MVP type season. Matt is going to be the cherry on top of our hot fudge sundae World Series championship.
9 months ago on Matt Kemp Is Not A 4th Outfielder
Yeah Vince, I believe in the rule that the shortstop can play any position except catcher and pitcher. SS can go right or left. CF can go right or left. SS can go to the outfield. 3B can play outfield corners with time. 2B can usually play any outfield position. Much harder to move in from the outfield. Usually doesn't work.

My biggest concern has been whether he will be able to hit MLB pitching or not.
Now it's occasional! :)
9 months, 1 week ago on Hey, What’s Going on at ourdodgers.com?
@DBrim @TROBOB He's better offensively against lefties than Young or Hairston and he has more power as well. Their gloves aren't nearly as good as his either.
1 year, 2 months ago on Future Dodger Michael Young Is Now Current Dodger Michael Young
@DBrim @TROBOB Not during the playoffs and he would be taking at bats away from SVS. Like I said, Hairston is now redundant. We could carry Van Slyke's better glove and bat against lefties into the playoffs if we go with only 11 pitchers, which is what we should do. I don't want Young as a DH against lefties in the World Series either. I can see that train wreck coming.
If only he COULD hit lefties! And what's wrong with Scott Van Slyke who is actually hitting lefties? I guess you could say this acquisition sort of makes Hairston redundant now.

The game hurt plenty! I hated it. I hate the sacrifice bunt. I hate the Yankees! I hate the way it ended and I hated, not appreciated, the fact that Mariano Rivera closed it out. That was no treat for me, no matter what Vin said. I want to win and especially against those guys.

@Omer It's called Dodger Stadium
@Mike Petriello @Lobo @TROBOB I didn't like the move until he explained it, but I thought maybe Hairston had caught the Carl Crawford gunge or something. I thought that maybe Don didn't have a choice in the matter.
@Mike Petriello @TROBOB He said it was because the potential run was on second base (I think Votto) and he didn't want to let it go. He said that he knew Hairston wasn't going to like it and that he went to him immediately to explain.
It should read "he did not want to go into the ninth inning down by a run."
I actually liked the Schumaker for Hairston switch after he explained it. At the time, he wanted the guy with a better arm in the game because he knew that he might need to cut down a run in a very low scoring game. I think he did not want to into the ninth inning down by a run. That is the way he made it sound. And maybe he knew Dusty wouldn't bring Chapman in unless he had the lead. LOL!

@splendid @IBBFTW Who plays second base against righthanders? Just get Cruz and his curse out of here. I have now dubbed him "First Pitch Popout" As long as we have this curse on the team we will not be successful.
1 year, 5 months ago on Pirates 6, Dodgers 3: Should We Be More Frustrated Or Angry?
Ramirez struck out against Grilli. No shame there right now. He would NOT have been facing Grilli in the sixth. Don has made totally lousy critical decisions all week.
I want my best hitter with power hitting fourth and my best two OBP hitters otherwise hitting first and second. My second best power guy hits fifth and my third guy has to be pretty good. My sixth guy should have some decent power and running ability and then I go with the last two guys wherever they best seem to fit. AJ Ellis, despite his on base ability really fits that eighth spot well as he can extend innings and help keep the pitcher from leading off an inning.

Remember that he IS Mattingly's bench coach. He must take some responsibility. Nonetheless Don omes off looking like an in game managerial genius in comparison.
Is Trey Hillman the most monumentally stupid choice to manage a team or not? Three opportunities to use Schumaker in iuations that called for him and we didn't use him once. Twice with runners in scoring position and once that could possibly have kept the inning alive to get to the last hitter with a chance to hit the ball out of the park. Schumaker should have just started serving the suspension tonight for all the good it did him to appeal.
Who is responsible? Who is always responsible? As always, it is Ned.

1 year, 5 months ago on Dodgers 7, Rockies 5: No Really, Brandon League Gets the Win
@Capnsparrow(Still loves Matt Kemp) @Mike Petriello If he is ready to play physically in A Ball, why wouldnt he be ready to play in MLB. The strain on the hamstring should not be any different.
@baeksu @TROBOB I understand. I am agreeing with you and saying that the rules are not applied as they should be. I think a lot of scorers are lazy. No pitcher should be rewarded for an ineffective outing. Pitchers who come into the game in the nninth with a four run lead or larger are not allowed to put themselves in a save situation. If you blow a two run lead or more, you should not he in position to be the wining pitcher.
@Capnsparrow(Still loves Matt Kemp) @baeksu @Jeith Brinz I have never heard 7 and 2. Ever since they have been keeping the stat it has been 6 and 3. Heck at Coors it should be 6 and 4.. There is nothing wrong with 6 and 3. The pitcher has kept his team in the game with that measure. In a three run scenario, you can conceivably win the game wth one swing of the bat.
@baeksu Wins are applied lazily. I thought there were rules in the game in which the scorer could objectively give the win to a pitcher who was more deserving than someone who pitched poorly and failed to do his job. I really think they should go to any starting pitcher who has a quality start and his team wins as long as he was in the lead when he left the game. That would make the stat itself much more meaningful.
Hopefully, we'll have a 15-2 lead in the ninth. A 14-2 lead is not safe in the House of Horrors.
