@DBrim Hey Brim, is there a generic dodgersdigest email? I have a pretty funny and long story I would like to share as a whole and seems better suited for an e-mail then a comment

Did y'all read this trash article by Saxon? Have spent my morning conversing with him to wonder why he craps on Puig/Hanley and ignores A.J. (Here I am, having to talk bad about A.J. to prove a point :( )

Seems like a lot of places have it likely we add another starter. Under this scenario, I'm assuming Haren is the odd man out (although it's dangerous to assume Beckett is healthy). What do you guys think we could obtain for Haren? He kinda has tricky value with that option for next year

@Mike Petriello @bluehaze well, you see.. Trayvon Robinson was once a Dodger prospect and he flopped so the next OF prospect is going to flop!

@Mike Petriello @Lobo @P_F_P @craigary NBA style trade lol. Makes sense though

5 months, 1 week ago on The Path To Joc Pederson

@craigary Though I agree Ethier is easier to trade than Carl, Carl is such a bad player to have on the bench since he can only play one position, ugh. I guess that goes back to your point that Carl is less valuable then Ethier but yeah, it'd be a drag to have someone like him all year on the bench

5 months, 1 week ago on The Path To Joc Pederson

Reply

@nsxtasy That's a good enough line to convince me he'll hit enough for CF. He doesn't have to have an otherwordly OPS. Ethier had good value for us in CF last year and he had a .785 OPS. Joc Pederson just needs to be good enough defensively, and I believe he's there.

and if this is the guaranteed end of Andre Ethier as a Dodger, or everyday player, I'll miss him :( Wish he coulda been better this year, so much better. He'll get bad rep for a contract and his lack of ability in CF (two things outta his control in a sense) but yeah. (Sounds like an obituary)

5 months, 1 week ago on Andre Ethier, Former Center Fielder

If someone woulda told us like in 2009 or something that Andre Ethier would play CF for a good amount of time in 2013-2014 and it wouldn't be a complete disaster I wonder how much of an idiot you'd think that person was.

5 months, 1 week ago on Dodgers’ center field situation needs fixing, and fast

Reply

@nsxtasy @Mike Petriello @RA_S if they paid all of it, they still wouldn't get anything in return worthwhile and would essentially gain nothing out of it that they'd gain out of DFA'ing him which is crazy with his amount of money. He's not simply overpaid, he's just not that good of a player accounting for what you get from him in the rare instances he's healthy.

@Mike Petriello @RA_S I do wonder: Could their be any scenario where the Dodgers attempt a NBA style trade and give away a prospect paired with Crawford? Not very realistic I know but I wonder what prospect(s) it'd have to be

Diamondbacks have about 74 mil committed in contracts to 2014, before any arb. Signing Choo would put them close to 94 committed to 2014, and then maybe push them close to or over $100 mil in payroll, which would be an increase of like 15+ mil from last year.

I love it, and it also makes the Dan Haren signing (which already looked great) look even better. This was the market for someone like this, and we got a starter for a lesser price.

This "Puigs play is going to cost the Dodgers" stuff is such bullshit. Theres so many other things I'm worried about that could cost us games, not having anything to do with overthrowing a fucking cut off man. How many games have his throws cost us? Zero, meanwhile his "antics" have won us multiple games. Not saying it doesn't piss me off, but the risk/reward seems to be worth it and the notion that we have to discipline him cause he's Yasiel Puig but can let our other players make mistakes cause they're not Yasiel Puig is disrespectful to him.

If he sucks, then we release him and still end up with a net loss of money that is less than what we would have loss with releasing Guerrier. If he does well, then depth is never bad and when he is on, he's one of the best in baseball in getting a K.
