The way it is right now I think the value added to a player's value as an endorser of brands and the intrinsic value of representing one's country while striving to earn a gold medal far outvalue anything USA basketball or the US Olympic committee could possibly consider paying players.  Competing for our country is a privilege, if someone thinks it's not worth their time there are thousands of players who would love to take their place
