I remember my Dad telling me when he was enlisting in '69, him and his friend wanted to be helecopter pilots so they went to the recruter and he told them how great it was and all the extra pay they got and right before they signed he let it slip that the life expectancy of a new helecopter pilot in country was 6 weeks. Needless to say they both joined the Navy and served their time.
