@ThunderChick2010 @DennisBerry Sounds like a great idea. I'm in OKC/Edmond. Who's our leader(s)?

@DennisBerry This may be a totally stupid question but what is Blue Alliance?
@DennisBerry I'm in for 2. The 22nd is my birthday so it will be my present to me.

@DennisBerry Ok. Put me down for at least 2 tickets.
2 years ago on Serge Ibaka wasn't happy with the Olympics
@DennisBerry How many tickets at $100 per are we talking about?
It's my wife's birthday tomorrow and she's going to be 29. When I tell people how old she is they look at me weird and say things like, "Wow she's young.". I know what they're thinking. They're thinking I robbed the cradle or something, but damn. I'm only 32. Do I really look that old?!? I need to do something about this.
Obviously my phone doesn't update fast enough.
2 years ago on Luxury tax history and how it applies to the Thunder
@Old Man Game Roger Clemons
@DennisBerry I agree completely. The team obviously has made money and can afford to go into the tax. I'm not saying it's the ideal way to operate but it's very obvious that in order to win u have to spend. We have an ownership group of very wealthy men. The team isn't their income. Their other businesses are. The Thunder is an investment of sorts. If they all (10 I believe) had to chip in a million or two each season to field a championship team then I'm sure they would do it gladly.
2 years ago on DT Mailbag: Talking Ibaka
Basically I said (in the 1st 1/2 was I hope we aren't trying to win with just 4 good players and a bunch of half ass role players. I'm afraid that's kinda happening. Our last 5 players on the bench make a total of less tha 6-7 million combined. I believe to win a championship we need 3 really good players as well as 5-6 above average role specific players. They don't have to be thebest at their role, just above average. I'm looking at our line up and don't see it. KD, Russ, Harden, and Ibaka can only carry us so far. Look what happens when harden is off his game. We lose 4 in a row.
I copied and pasted my statement and obviously the first 1/2 was not copied. Mea villa. I'll try to recreate it and repost.
players. We can't bank on FA wanting to come to OKC for a chance at a ring. Even though we all know how great OKC is I don't believe that perception is felt around the league. If a solid player has a choice between a major market and us I'd bet the vast majority of the time the player will choose the big market. It sucks but it's reality. We have to keep drafting well and finding "diamonds in the rough" vets.
SOOOOO does the NBA and the Thunder expect us to sit around and make small talk fir the next 6 weeks? Holy shit this is going to be tough. Are there any other tournaments or random competitions our players can participate? I needs me some Thunder b-ball. Lazar should do some kind of charity game for OKC. I mean he's our token charity case of a player.
2 years ago on Thunder scout David Vanterpool moves to Blazers
@OBoymuzik I guess. I just know in college sports it is PARAMOUNT to pay the assistans extremely well if u want to retain them. It's just like any business I suppose. Employers that pay better usually get better production and better employees. I just hope we don't lose a bunch of good people because we don't want to pay good money. Human capital is the most important ingredient for a successful company.
It's quite obvious people in our management are getting plucked away all the time now. And it's primarily due to the production in the court. Why would a guy go from scout to assistant coach when he was probably going to be the next assistant GM. It's not like our coaches are moving on to head coaching positions. The Brooks coaching tree will never be filled with amazing head coaches. Do we just not pay very much? Is that the reason for accepting a lesser position than what we would have offered?
@dancassidy35/FreeFestusFromGSW! I think it should be like other sports (swimming, tennis, track and field). If u can qualify for different events then u should be able to play in different events. I'd guess the coaches would have to decide if they want their b-ball players playing in two different tournaments.
2 years ago on 3-on-3: Threatened
This may be the most ridiculous idea yet, but everyone is questioning how we could possibly keep Harden and Ibaka. If Miami can win with 3 Stars and a bunch of role players, then why can't we have 2 stars and 2 almost stars and a bunch of role players? I don't have all the salaries. Does this sound possible?
Totaling $53M for 4 players. Then we add in another 9-10 players who's pay totals $25-$30M. That would mean a few min pay along with a few around $3-$4M. From the looks of salaries players are signing for, I think this is more than doable. Our total payroll would be around $80M leaving our tax penalty about 20M. If we want to win then we will more than likely have to be a tax payer. Just not a high tax payer.
@ERROR72 @ou_sas The NBA and FIBA said last week the 23 year old age limit will not go into effect before 2016. So KD should be able to play in at least one more Olympics. Even if they do institute the age limit, teams will be allowed at least 3 players over the age of 23.

@OkcBaby Do we have to take up a roster spot for that? Is it against the rules to have "practice players?". The NFL has practice squads that don't count toward the 53 man roster.
Lazar doesn't bring anything to the Thunder. I'd rather have 14 players w/o him than 15 with him. Hey Presti, GET RID OF LAZAR!!!!!
I would appreciate my likes now. Thank you.
It's not quite $125M. During this season, teams over the tax line pay dollar for dollar in tax. In 2013-14 the more punitive tax system is in effect. Using the incremental penalties, their bill would be $72.5M. Either way, it's ridiculous. Maybe LA is banking on Dwight being there for a year and paying $27M in taxes. After this year I don't think they have a lot of long term expensive contracts other than Kobe for 2 more and Pau for one. I don't know. I just them to lose badly every game now. Living in SoCal for the last few years has really soured my feelings for the Lakers in general.
2 years ago on Thoughts KD on the Howard deal? ‘I really don’t care’
Does it help when I type in ALL CAPS? I'm texting louder I guess.
So what!!! The Lakers got Howard. We still have solid interior defense. Bynum could at least be a threat to hit a 15-18 foot jumper whereas D12 CAN'T!! I'm more concerned that they added a better point guard in Nash and a solid bench player in Jamison. Their starting five can hang with just about any other team's starters. The drop off for them is after the 6th man. No depth. I think we still repeat as Western Conference Champions. I never was a big Howard fan, but now I HATE HIM. GO THUNDER!!!
This is a very very quiet comments night on DT. Must be some good shows on TV.
2 years ago on Harden is ‘pretty, a hundred percent’ sure he’s staying
@EatSleepThunder Just emailed an information request. Now let's see if my email gets bounced back?
@El Prez Where's Rudy T from Houston? 1994-95.
I want to join the DT fantasy league. Where do I go on the net to sign up? I've only participated in ESPN college football league my friend set up. In that league, we all picked players to complete our teams and were awarded points for their performance each week. We didn't have a draft or anything so often times we all had the same player at the same time thus collecting the same points. It was ok I guess but having a draft would be better. Who do I contact?
@Stringer Bell Please tell me you're not really cheering for our next opponent? The Australian team can probably do what several of the teams have done. They will probably hang around for a half then get torched in the 2nd half. imo.

Thank you all for the kind words. And yes, the idea of staying in CA without my son was not an option. Staying in CA without my wife, now that's another conversation entirely. Either way I'm still married (barely and because she just has yet to say get lost) and here, back home, in Oklahoma. This place will always be home. The people here are the best.
353 during leap years. 352 every other year.
Tronchaser- earlier you posed the question, Back to OK? I thought if I replied u wouldn't know. I don't know if u even care to know. I moved back to OK from Palm Springs cuz my wife (for some weird reason that I can't explain) hated CA. We lived on a golf course and had only 13 sunless days each year. (or 353 sunny days for those glass 1/2 full people). She came to visit family on Jan 24 and on the 29th called to say she wasn't coming back to CA. I had a great job where I wore polo shirts and dress shorts to work. We were 2 1/2 hours from San Diego, 3 1/2 hours from Vegas, 1 hour from LA. It was picture perfect. But if I wanted to stay married and see my son more than a couple days each month I had to quit my job and move back to OK. So here I am. In Oklahoma. Now you all know.
@Tronchaser Oh. Ok. Then I'm T-275 until ........ I have no idea. I just started my job 90 days ago after moving back from Palm Springs, CA.
@Tronchaser Did I miss something? What's T-11 Hawaii and T-2 Texas stand for?
@Legendary_Dork @DennisBerry @Bryson I know we can't take on any BS contracts. I also believe if we are going to take the next step and win a championship we either need a serviceable big that can both guard and be a threat to score. Miami had Bosh who actually had a solid series in the paint. As Justin said their role players did whatever they wanted. My point was heading toward flipping Ibaka and maybe a couple role players for a mid level big. We may lose some shot blocking but if Perkins could guard one on one (not just Howard and Bynum) then Ibaka's shot blocking wouldn't be as necessary. Again, he is a great help side defender but it appears he focuses too much on helping and not enough on guarding his man. I would've liked to have seen maybe Ibaka (cuz he's probably going to command a larger salary than we can afford), Cook (very serviceable 3 point threat who we replaced with Thompson), and someone else traded for a solid big guy that currently earns under 10M. Then we could grow our young new young big guys while having an offensive threat of a big. Perkins was supposed to be able to lock down the paint and give us 8-10 PTA and 7-9 boards each night. That still hasn't happened. He's not getting it done.
2 years ago on Thunder sign Daniel Orton
@DennisBerry @Bryson I'm not so disappointed about PJ3, but I do believe our team took a step back this year by doing nothing to improve our interior.
@Bryson I agree that Miami's role players got hot but as DB said, our role players plus Hatden just flat out didn't show up. On bad scoring nights, both KD and RE find other ways to help. Harden never really did. I only asked the question because we didn't do a lot this summer to improve. We are content with Maynor coming back and our draftee. I don't know that our bench or role players have it in them to play like their counterparts from Miami.
It's quite clear a team needs at least three stars to win an NBA championship. Those three can be all guards or a combination of positions. But the one factor that always rings true is you must have 3. And each of the three must be able to take over the game at any moment. When asking who should we take if a choice must be made between Harden and Ibaka, then my opinion is Harden. Ibaka is no doubt a talent. His shot blocking ability is unparalleled. His ability to help from the weak side is awesome, but if he's ever asked to do more then he gets beat. I do believe he will grow and get better on both offense and defense. Harden is ready now. He's been pivotal in winning big games. He's capable of varying the load if Russ & KD aren't getting it done. Now, we can't rely entirely on our three stars. Role players with specific duties are very important as well. Miami demonstrated this to us this year. Their three stars played well (not always at the same time) during the Finals. But the role players are what killed us. A defensive specialist, a 3-Point specialist, and a PG who's entire role was to kinda faciltae. These guys won Miami the championship. Our role players are good but are they good enough to do what Miami's did to us? I hope they are.
@Crow Thanks. 6th seems kind of low for Perkins tho.
@Crow Please please don't think I'm a moron, but what does TO% stand for?
@DennisBerry @OBoymuzik I can't believe he still hasn't landed on a team. He had a bad year last year but over all he's been a solid player. He also is willing to take a cheap contract cuz he is guaranteed to receive over $7M after being amnestied by the Wizards. It's funny how some players get snatched up so quickly and are over paid severely yet others barely hey any attention at all.
@ElMexiThunder Didn't stay very long but I assure u there were several beautiful women at that restaurant. By far the largest % of gorgeous woman at any establisent in OKC.

@persiansooner13 @jdstorm Ok maybe that wasn't the best example but I think u get my point.
@persiansooner13 @jdstorm You're right it's ridiculous. Just like a criminal can't profit from a crime, a team in any sport shouldn't be able to benefit from a loss.
@El Prez Went to lunch at Twin Peaks today for the first time and saw a few ladies that I would bet could be strong replacement dancers.
@persiansooner13 That was precisely my point earlier today. It's games like today that get him thinking he's one of the best players in the NBA. And people (media mainly) will reference this game as if it's some sort of justification for him to be a black hole on the court. "Well, he has done it before. Do u remember his Olympic performance?". smh
@jdstorm Oh wow!!! Didn't know it was that bad. I thought they were just not hustling or showing as if they cared. Never mind. Get them outa here.
Happy belated birthday to Legendary Dork. The 30's are not all bad.
@f5alcon My mistake. Won't happen again.
@jdstorm I guess but there would still be at least one upset team. Wouldn't they all have to play each other anyway?
