The only reason the Victorino signing made sense to me was if they were going to trade Ellsbury. Now it looks like they won't, so we basically just gave up Ross for Victorino straight up. Victorino's an aging speed guy. Ross looked great when healthy...it makes no sense to me.

He was such a big element to the rivalry, pre and post 2004, that with him gone, it feels like a huge part of the rivalry is gone. It's melancholic. The whole Sox-Yanks aura as we've come to know it is over. Or drastically different at least. Hated the player, liked the guy. Annoying as he was, he was spectacular and one of a kind. Speedy recovery.
