The 100 EMA was strong resistance for Apple this week, backed off from it quite a bit during the course of the week, while the indices were markedly higher. Just consolidating before another move higher, or is a retest of the lows appearing more likely?
There is still time for Gordon to improve, still only 25, but his 2012 regression was a big disappointment after a promising 2011 . He has great speed on the bases, a thrill to watch, but not sure he will ever be a significant contributor at the major league level.
Horrible news on Ellis. If he is out long term, i dont think that makeshift platoon is going to work. Despite Sellers' recent improvement, it did not work on left side of infield either.
Assuming he holds up physically, i actually would have no problem if the Dodgers exercised M. Ellis' option for 2014. At only $5.75M, not a bad deal, age may be a factor though.
So for the $35M extension, they basically get about a year and a half from him. Doubt they will exercise their $15M option in 2015 when he is 31, so assuming he returns healthy, will be interesting to see how that plays out. Chad's days with the team all of a sudden seem numbered.
I'm not in panic or freakout mode yet, but that was some horrible baseball by the Dodgers. No way to sugar coat it.
Considering all of the dodger outfielders are signed through at least 2017, what are their plans for Puig during that time since he is not an infielder, there is no DH in the NL, and they are paying him $42M?
I just want the Dodgers to win. If Uribe can be productive and help them do that despite his awful past 2 years, i am perfectly fine with that.
i've never understood the whole uniform number thing, seems silly and trivial for a backup catcher making $3M that was DFAd just a few days ago.
After Furcal and Blake, who were both hurt a lot anyway, Dodgers counted on Gordon and Uribe, and Ramirez was a castoff from Miami where the entire city hated him.
Cruz and Ramirez had a nice secoond half, but left side has been troubled for some time.
@The Monocle @dodger1k @Mike Petriello no, only if he clears waivers and signs with another team. Then that team only pays the minimum. If he is claimed off waivers, new team owns the contract in full
@capnsparrow @dodger1k @Mike Petriello if he is claimed off waivers, new team assumes his contract
@Mike Petriello @dodger1k then why not have the Dodgers DFA him? Someone would have claimed him i would think.
i agree that Harang is not great, but he had decent productivity last year, and had what i thought to be a reasonable salary and option year. So just having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact the Rockies actually got him AND cash for crappy filler.
sorry, but they could not get a better bench player for a durable Starting Pitcher who had a pretty good year? SPs usually come at a premium and the bench is the dodger's weak point.
by the way, Belisario didn't help matters by not covering to save the 3rd run. In any event, with a high chopper like that, can't help but wonder if Sellers would have been better off getting the clean out at first. I'm not so sure he would have gotten him at home. Moot point i suppose, dodgers couldn't hit tonight.
I think your last paragraph says it all. Some pretty damn expensive bats in that lineup and they didn't exactly light it up until it was too late last year.
I would think when Bills returns, Paco goes down since he has options
Hairston can back up in the outfield i would think.
i forgot Todd Coffey is also a free agent, so goodbye to him as well. I know some think they will bring back Brandon League, but at that price, not sure it makes sense. Have we not learned from Matt Guerrier regarding free agent relievers. Colletti seems to do pretty good with non-roster invitees for that final bullpen slot, even if they are scrubs. Just don't press your luck for a comeback like he did with MacDougal.
