What the Rays were extremely good at was drafting, identifying, and developing young pitchers.  This makes me hopeful.

Do we think Friedman has carte blanche, or is part of the deal that Donnie gets to stay?

I'm guessing Harold Reynolds doesn't like the GM change.  Therefore, I love it.

The concept would be that better defense at the two positions cancels out the lost offense.  It's about run differential, no total runs scored.

Scapegoat alert.  KShaw, Ned, Donnie, Puig.  Maybe pitch-X for trying to make the umps call a strike a strike.  I choose Dale Scott.

At least we can begin building our middle relief next year with Wilson and League in the fold. The big decision for me is what to do with Hanley. I'd be tempted to let him go, play a glove a short, and use the $$ at catcher.

Don going to Elbert showed me how little faith he had in others. Paco Isotope was sorely missed.

Good question. Don was in a difficult spot going into the playoffs with that pen. Even though they didn't work out, I can't argue with the pitching decisions he made vs. Cards.

Kasten could let Ned piss away more Guggenheim $$ by poorly constructing a baseball team or hire a smart GM. You know-one who thinks past closer experience, grit, and good in the clubhouse.

Any rational human being can tell you that putting on a Card or Gnat uni doesn't make you clutch or gritty.  Was Kolton Wong clutch last year?  When did Matt Adams attain the chemist gene?  Lazy people who don't want to really think are the ones who parrot the lame narratives.  I guess some forgot how Puig destroyed the Barves last post season.

Winning close games is not a skill, it varies over time.  Just like BA w/RISP.

@InsideThePark (Academy Rd) Doubt if a +164 would be a wild card, but whatever.  The point is that longer sample sizes are better than short ones.  The best team doesn't always win a playoff series.

@InsideThePark (Academy Rd) Saying run differential is a better measure of a team's quality is similar to saying ERA (or any run prevention stat) is a better measure than win/loss record for a pitcher.
