So you're saying Uribe's a sleeper...
No really, he could fall asleep in the clubhouse an nobody would notice.
@Micro Scrotumo The stadium didn't turn 1 until the second year the Dodgers played there. I guess you could say they played their first season there when the stadium was zero years old.
@Mike Petriello @EephusBlue Mike, are you playing russian roulette but instead of a gun it's your phone/computer and instead of bullets it's your new bride?
@plaza234 Optimist
Cruz > Gonzalez! There I said it.
@The Monocle I think you mean scrappiness.
Punto is 5'9"? That means he's scrappy!
This is one of those posts where we wake up in a cold sweat and discover that it was all just a bad dream, right? Right?!!
@Mike Petriello @JT_Dutch Okay, look at Petco. .808 OPS. Is DS a better hitters park than Petco? If it is, I doubt it's by much.
@Mike Petriello @JT_Dutch It's the only data available for how he performs at Dodger Stadium, and I've so far seen nothing that shows he's going to do anything different than that.
@JT_Dutch Yes. Hansen messed with his swing during ST this year and it messed him up. Once back at ABQ he went back to what he was doing in 2011 and started killing it again, look at the stats. I get that Gonzalez is good, I just simply think there were other options that might have been better from a value standpoint.
And I understand that ABQ is a launching pad.
@Frank J Lapidus @DBrim @drh But it's not a small sample, only at Petco and Fenway does he have more PA.
@JT_Dutch I would argue that the money paid to Gonzalez is not worth it given his splits at Dodger Stadium. He is without a doubt an upgrade over Loney, but it bothers me that Sands was never given a true opportunity. Sands' line of .253/.338/.389 over 227 PA in 2011 is better than Gonzalez' career of 233 at DS.
@MFYG Never said that. Only trying to make the point that he does not have good numbers at Dodger Stadium. I am questioning whether the money paid for him is worth it. I will be honest, though. I did not like this acquisition. Don't get me wrong.. he is an upgrade over Loney. But maybe Sands would have been, too, for a LOT less money.
Hmm... 233 ranks 3rd all time on his ballpark splts. Only at Petco and Fenway does he have more.
"Gonzalez is hitting .260/.321/.380 as a Dodger"
HIs line at Dodger Stadium now is: .225/.315/.377, this is with 233 PA. Not what I would call a small sample size. Does this mean we can expect a regression?
Mike, apologies if you've answered this elsewhere, but how do you see the Juan Uribe situation playing out?
@Mike Petriello @Gilbert_Vengeance Will you be going to Munich?
Vegas line: Before trade, dodgers -170, after -210
