I mean, I don't disagree with your tax and political points, but why take such pride in eating a food that's made so blatantly inhumanely. That just seems unnecessarily cruel.
I'm not sure it's fair to compare an industry that's entirely a middleman to startups just because some startups act as marketplaces. Also, the broader point about the finance industry is that while they create jobs, the over-financialization of the past few decades have had a net negative social impact given crashes and the most recent recession. When a startup crashes, it takes a dozen staff with them. When a financial institution screws up, it can take a much larger chunk of the economy with it.

I'd point out that so much business in this world is really a facsimile of a few basic ideas. It just so happens that what Fab is selling is primarily design. So it's easier to be offended when some other entity tries to sell the same "design." Unfortunately for Fab, design is not a long term (read sustainable/defensible) competitive advantage.
