In other news the Lakers chose not to give Kent Bazemore a qualifying offer!
@JonathanLingo lol yeah but no salary cap in MLB
@JonathanLingo It was either that, or likely spend the rest of his career on a non playoff team
@Purple Drank @Table Oh.....well it's just your nhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UayQTu2kH-U&feature=kpame makes me think of this

To summarize: Yes Pederson has an OPS over 1.000 but since 09 so have Scot Van Slyke, Alex Castellanos, John Lindsey, Hector Luna, and Mitch Jones
@Purple Drank @Table Dave Chappelle jokes don't either!! ooooooohhhh (wait they sort of do though shit)
We often mention how inflated Albuquerque/PCL numbers are, but how many of you have actually checked out those numbers? I refreshed my memory recently and WOW. Pederson zealots be ware!!! http://www.fangraphs.com/minorleaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=250&type=1&season=2009&team=1&players=0 this links to 09 (first year back in ALB)
eh, don't think its a big problem. Talk to me when they can all stay healthy for a 2 or 3 month stretch. Besides, why live in fear of a grouchy benched Ethier or Crawford situation? One unhappy player can't ruin a locker room, especially if the team is winning, besides those two are closing in on being the bench player phases of their careers anyways, timed to get used to it.
3 months ago on The Dodgers’ four outfielder problem is now a problem
This has probably been discussed already, but no doubt Ethier is batting second due to some small sample success vs Hamels. I recall an 09 post season homer for instance.

Mike has grown bigger than MSTI, he will be fine without the wonderful (but hard to explain) site name. Now he and the new writers wont be stressed out attempting to respond to each and every Dodger story (and competing with each other in doing so). They can write the Dodger stories which most interest them and for which they are best suited.
Although MSTI evolved into a majestic Dodger haven over the years, and it's sad to leave it, Dodger Digest looks to be the Dodger super blog some of us fantasized of years ago.
Vin on the mic, Magic in the owner's box, Kershaw on the mound, Orel and Garciapara on the TV, and Mike/Chad with the Internets...........get excited people! This is prittay pppreeetay sweet

If the average annual salary is low enough, who cares if it takes 2 years or 3 years for Uribe?
8 months, 1 week ago on Third Base Market Only Getting Tougher For Dodgers
@TellMyWifeISaidHello It's been awhile, but Uribe used to play SS and 2nd
9 months, 1 week ago on Don Mattingly To Return, Unless He Doesn’t
If the Dodgers can sign Uribe for 2 years 5-7 mill per, why would they not do that? He's coming off a 5 War season in which he didn't even receive full playing time. Sure he might not keep up that kind of production, he could even provide 0 WAR as he basically did the during his first two years with the Dodgers. That's your worst scenario......and it ain't that bad. Are you really afraid of having to eat......(gasp) a 2 year 10-14 mill contract?
and Tim Wallach lurks
@Drian8890 @PagansOedipalComplex @SpaceDodger (sad math cat) You seen their rotation?
9 months, 1 week ago on So Long, 2013
@PagansOedipalComplex @Table Good point, that would make him a no for me
Personally I like the idea of Kuroda on a one year deal, basically because of the flexibility it would offer moving forward (Ideally Zach Lee would move into his spot in 2015)
@InsideThePark (home run) That's what Edwin Jackson went for
@InsideThePark (home run) Nolasco says no. Maybe 4 years 50 mill gets it done idk
@DBrim Adding Tanaka or Price just seems like crazy town overkill to me, but I'll happily get used to it
Do most of you agree that the Dodgers need to add one starting pitcher? Whether that's resigning Nolasco, bringing back Kuroda, or trading for David Price. To me it just doesn't seem Ned like to rely on BIllingsley/Beckett and a bunch of rookies for the 4th/5th spots. Especially considering how the rotation surplus blew up in his face this year.
@JoeyE I'd trade Ethier to the AL, and go with an outfield of Crawford/Kemp/Puig with Van Slyke/Pederson as "4th outfielders" but I'd also bring in a capable defensive CF to sub for Pederson as he should start the season at AAA
@Drian8890 @JoeyE @PagansOedipalComplex What the heck happened to Scott Elbert?
@JoeyE @TheReggieHurley @Table The Gonzalez part is ok since there were so few 1st base options. It's the Crawford/Becket/too many prospects/no money from Boston part that makes the trade terrible
I would not have made the trade at the time and I would not have made it now.
If the 300 mill offer were for say 15 years.....I could see Kershaw hesitating. He might prefer something like 7 years 200 mill. He would end up surpassing the 300 mill mark that way.
If the Cardinals had a left handed starting pitcher, Van Slyke would be a no brainer, that way Dodgers could field a Van Slyke/Kemp/Puig outfield.

So any word on which center fielder is getting called up? Pederson or Gwynn?
1 year, 2 months ago on Dodgers @ Angels May 30, 2013: Three Catchers, Zero Center Fielders
@Deuce @Table It would make for a roster that had better value, but it's hard to argue that they could have spent their money in a different way that would have improved the team in 2013. Sure maybe a few different bench and bullpen moves, but other than that what could they have done to make a better roster? Complains about the team's current construction should be about how the future is compromised not the present.
1 year, 3 months ago on Orioles 6, Dodgers 1: Well, That Happened
The payroll does not mean much to me. It's only as high as it is because it's full of A) bad Ned Colletti signings, and B) Overpaid players the Dodgers were willing to take on in order to improve the team quickly. The current roster does not reflect the payroll, rather it reflects the circumstances.
