@P_F_P I mean... It doesn't suck THAT much that Joe Nathan won't make the HoF.

@Purple Drank (2014 MSTY Poster of the Year) We're both right though. A guy who doesn't draw a walk or hit home runs? Who does he think he is, Juan Pierre?

@P_F_P @efb No Way. Seager has literally never drawn a walk at AA. That's terrible.

@TellMyWifeISaidHello @BlueMarvin @Mike Petriello @juanhenry Last 5 games:

Lincecum: 29 IP, 1.24 ERA, 3.55 FIP

Greinke: 33.1 IP, 3.78 ERA, 2.96 FIP

Lincecum has been spectacularly lucky, Greinke has pitched better but been a little bit unlucky.

If I'm picking one to start a game this weekend, it's gotta be Greinke, and it's not really close.

@Lobo @Dave! (but probably Justin Turner, maybe) @PagansOedipalComplex @P_F_P Yeah, Pujols was pretty damn great for a long time. Trout has a LONG, LONG way to go before he's anywhere near the discussion.

I think the bigger fear here is that Colletti makes a great trade for a reliever, but then does something really dumb when that reliever has a solid run to end the year. Examples: Sherrill, League, and even though it wasn't a trade, Wilson.

@PagansOedipalComplex @MajorPuigBaseball @WBBsAs (In Dog We Trust. Un Planeta Sin Gatos) I think MPB is talking about innings per start. Ryu is under 6 IP per start this year. Greinke averages 6 1/3.

@Purple Drank (2014 MSTY Poster of the Year) @Crushinator (Bender lover) @Dave! (but probably Justin Turner, maybe) @BlueMarvin It's kicking the can down the road, but it's also making the problem far, far smaller. Rather than 5 guys for two spots, forcing you to play someone out of position, you end up with 2 or 3 guys, one of whom is very tradeable, for one spot.

A-Rod brings a whole host of other issues, and I can't stand him, but your reasoning for not making the trade is flawed.

@Purple Drank (2014 MSTY Poster of the Year) @Dave! (but probably Justin Turner, maybe) @BlueMarvin Even if Seager is ready in July of next year, IF BlueMarvin's trade was made, the team ain't gonna re-sign Hanley. You could put Uribe at SS until the trade deadline, then move him, OR move him in the offseason and let Arruebarrena or Rojas or Guerrero (ugh) play SS until Seager is ready. Scouts are starting to think he can stick there at least to start his big league career.

@BlueMarvin @Purple Drank (2014 MSTY Poster of the Year) A-Rod has between $61 million and $91 million remaining on his contract ($20 million per year through 2017 plus up to 30 million in HR milestone bonuses - he needs 6 more HRs to reach the first milestone). CC has $61 million left after this season, Ethier has between $56 million and $71 million (he has a $17.5 million vesting option for 2018, with a $2.5 million buyout). So it clears a ton of salary cap.

@Purple Drank (2014 MSTY Poster of the Year) @Dave! (but probably Justin Turner, maybe) @BlueMarvin No way. Seager ain't gonna be ready to start next season, Hanley isn't under contract for next season, Uribe is only under contract for 1 more year, and at a salary that is very, very moveable. That's a totally different situation.

@Purple Drank (2014 MSTY Poster of the Year) @BlueMarvin I'm starting to disagree that they've been useful. The opportunity costs of blocking Joc are significant Sure, they're better than league-wide replacement level, but as they continue to scuffle along at the plate and as the centerfield defense continues to be a disaster, there's plenty of reason to think Joc would provide greater value. That makes them very much not useful.
