OT, but since we discussed it here at one point: Dharun Ravi was just sentenced: 30 days jail, 3 years probation, about $11,000 fines + community service. Seems eminently fair to me.

People (like me) who do better during an emotionally stressful time if their mind is occupied with other things--like work.

@stobberdobber Stobber, one small caution about the axiom site. I listened to some of the audio that they posted from the discovery release, and DeeDee's statement has been edited to omit the section where she said Martin was right by "his father's house". So I would not rely on anything they post.

@ing4life @MaggieMoo "Zimmerman was 5'10 and 250 pounds." -- Bullshit. Numerous people, including the police, have listed his height at either 5'8" and you can see in the police video from the night of the shooting that the 185 is believable.
@ing4life A CDC study notes that an average of 5800 people die each year from assault-caused traumatic brain injuries. So concrete sidewalk+head smashing=very real fear of serious injury.

Don't know if this was mentioned or not, but there's something to pursue in DeeDee's recorded statement. Around 9:00 minutes in, just after she says that Martin is "near his daddy's house", she says "he starts walking back". I swear she said "back", but the attorney says "so he started walking fast?" Now, her diction and grammar are atrocious, and she is easily suggested and led by the attorney--twice she asks him what he wants her to say. But if she said "back" and actually meant "back", that changes things a bit, doesn't it?
I'll try to listen again later, but it probably won't be until tonight (have funeral and attorneys of my own to deal with today)
