@KirkCheyfitz Great answer, and yet I feel like you've raised more questions.  Is there an agency model that you've found that works for providing brands really smart digital advertising that helps build their brand (not just marketing?)  How much restructuring do you think has to be done in the traditional agency model to make impactful digital advertising a core of brands' ad spend?  Do you have a blog I could read up?  And what's your Twitter? (if you have one)

Very good post @KirkCheyfitz  I wonder how much of the reluctance to change has to do with the how profitable traditional media is for ad agencies.  I'd love to hear your thoughts on that.

Farhad, I think you should Google "Tomi Ahonen" and take some time to read his blog.

Sometimes, I wonder whether people listen to @msuster at all. He did call this, like 200 years ago.

@HoiSta You may be right but in terms of the whole picture @sarahlacy is spot on.  I've bought so many Kindle books on impulse and it's exactly the same situation she's describing - someone tells me about a great book they read and I just buy it.  Someone mentions a book on Twitter, I check it out and just buy it.  I've bought more Kindle books than physical books; and I haven't read them all.

I'm not sure even if the publishers stopped fighting Amazon they'll live forever but this is an example of perfect disruption.  Perfect.

@asemota I'm also surprised @sarahcuda didn't mention chip/pin & Square competitors. As for Square being the leader in payments, when it moves 75% of the US GDP, give me a call.  Until then, I'm an MPesa man.

@asemota  Chiedu delivered a laptop to my wife himself once so, yep, I know what you're saying. And the last phone she bought from them was delivered same day. In fact, they brought 2 phones and she picked one. I also understand kalahari's issues but they weren't fatal. You can pivot away from inefficiency can't you? @sarahcuda

@asemota  But did Kalahari fail? Or did they just throw in the towel too early? @sarahcuda

@asemota  @sarahcuda You know, the amazing thing about smartbuy.com.ng is just how long they've been in the business. I've watched shops come and go and yet these guys just stayed the course. They've done a lot of smart stuff - cash on delivery, navigating through Lagos' byzanthine streets and basically just come out tops. Another one you may want to take a look at is stylerebirth.com.ng - sells women's lingerie. The owner @funms really gets it and she's quite patient about building a solid business there.  Amazing that all the tech press doesn't do more to feature guys like that.
