More encouraged by this loss than by several recent lackluster wins. Russ played great for the first time in a couple of weeks. His play will determine if we win the chip IMO. Plus Serge hitting jump shot after jump shot very encouraging. Opposition needs to be aware of that which will open up the lane for others. Only question is who is serge gonna guard against Dallas to allow him to be out there assuming Mavs crunchtime are Kidd, Terry, Marion, dirk, & hayward/mahimi? Seems to me these are centers that serge can handle - play him at the 5 for once.

@ou_sas @HookemKD Many are talking up Parker for league MVP consideration so I question that he'll only make the third team. Between Kobe & Parker, I'd be very surprised if Russ gets the second first team guard spot. A month ago maybe, but too many 3 for 22 type stinkbombs of late.

Cole is active, will give him that, but also saw cousins drive around him like he was standing still in post-up plays on several occasions. Very limited lateral quickness, pretty standard trait for big, hulking white guys. I would not feel comfortable amnestying Perk in order to keep both James & Serge if it means relying on Cole to become our starting center. No big issue w/him getting 10 mpg as a backup though.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if Denver beat LAL (assuming standings hold) prior to us getting a crack at them. Denver's 8-4 in April, gallonari is back after a couple of injuries, & Bynum may have mentally checked out after being benched in the game yesterday. Any way you slice it, hard to see how it could've played out any better for us matchup-wise. That being said, I participate in a NBA playoff bet every year & I'm picking SA over miami in 6 in the finals. When $'s involved I think w/my head not my heart.

@soonerfan237 @Lost Hear you but berrea & Chandler were probably 2 of the main 4 players who won that series for them & they're gone, and seems unlikely that Dirk will catch that sort of lightning in a bottle again so am not overly concerned with them this year.

@Old Man Game Hope you're right but don't know that we can necessarily conclude from this that he'll be A-ok. Most times you get one & recover ok in a day or two but it's as fickle an injury as there is, potentially w/ebbs & flows from day to day, see Sidney Crosby & Kevin love. Regarding the suspension length, I was thinking 5-games or so last night but the more I've seen the replay, seems evident the guy truly is insane. If you're stern, can you truly feel confident the guy won't completely snap in the blink of an eye, pick up a chair or something and actually kill or paralyze an opponent, ref or fan? I wouldn't put it past that nutjob and how could stern live w/himself if something like that occurred. I think the punishment will be extremely harsh.

Regarding Serge's lack of minutes supposedly proving that he's not an elite defender - come on Royce, can't believe you wrote that. Damn near every okc fan has been clamoring for him to get more minutes since about game #15. Because Brooks chooses to play the immortal fish in the dreadful small ball lineup or nazr in any line up instead of Serge speaks more to dumb coaching decisions than it does to proving he's not an elite game-impacting defender. Can nitpick his pnr communication all you want, but so far as being a bottom line, game-changing,'the reason the oponent's possession is unsuccessful' defender, only lbj is in his league IMO. Am beginning to think that Serge must have dissed Royce in the locker room a time or two cause he is consistently undervalued or flat out slighted in the writing on DT IMO.

@persiansooner13 He had really started to pick up his game of late so a long suspension I think would hurt them a fair amount. Will be very interesting what the suspension is. Hadn't thought about the hockey parallel but you might be right that that influences stern to rule more harshly in an attempt to differentiate bball from the barbarism of hockey.

Perhaps we can agree that it was not premeditated. To me, it went from a 'I'm a bad man' celebration to intentional arm swing in about 0.5 seconds. The guy is missing a filter that most people have.

@Old Man Game Not sure of the exact protocol there. I broke my arm playing bball once when I fell over a guys back trying to block his shot and I wanted everyone to get the f off of me at that moment. Remember in the NCAA tourney a few years ago when the wvu guy wrecked his knee & Bob Huggins full body embraced the guy on the ground? That was odd. Probably something in between that & what actually happened tonight woulda been more appropriate.

Am not overly distraught w/the loss, we're a 2-seed with it, a 2-seed w/a win. Seems we're becoming an above average defensive team & if Russ can somehow find his jump shot, all will be well in the world. Not sure what's so 'silly' about the harden or serge debate & how this game provided any kind of definitive proof that James is the choice. Serge is a once in a generation type shotblocker, is 22, a 6-10 freak athlete w/still limited bball experience, is the main reason we're becoming a good defensive team & might be able to be had for 4-6 mil less than james per year. There was a national article from a week or 2 ago posted here where I think 12 NBA gm's or scouts were polled on this question and it was a dead even split. So professional evaluators are torn but internet columnist Royce doesn't want to be bothered by the utter silliness of the question? (no significant offense intended Royce)

Disagree that russ was quietly excellent. Compared to the last few games maybe but not top 10-in- the-league type of excellent, I want to see that Russ again. A lot of grass talk going on today which has made me a little nostalgic. Really wish 1-the sh*t was legal, 2-there wasn't such a negative stigma applied to the use of it, 3-I hadn't of been busted before for it so I didn't have to worry about felony charges if it happened again, 4-it wasn't the one 'drug' that showed up on drug tests many months after use, & 5-I still smoked.

Solid win, but really want to see Russ get fully back in the groove. Most of his damage came against 5-9 Thomas so can't take much from that. We are not getting the 1 seed, SA needs to lose 2 of 4 remaining against scrub teams which ain't gonna happen. So, I say we throw Sunday's game against LAL. Really want LAL not LAC as the 3 seed. If so, SA, LAC, & Memphis all on other side of bracket - can't ask for better than that.

Well, an outstanding game for James, one of the best I've seen for any player all year. But, saw nothing to make me feel any better about our chances of getting out of the west. Phoenix is not good, all smoke & mirrors to get the record they've got. Main concern is Russ. He absolutely needs to play like the top 10 talent that he sometimes appears to be for us to beat SA or LAC. What happened to his 15-footer that was so deadly earlier in the year?

@JJJ 1st team probably accurate. Seems to be some sentiment for Bynum over Howard but probably not enough. My own feeling is that 43% fg Kobe shouldn't be on first team but he will. 2nd team- Russ can't have many/any more games like last night if he's gonna hold off Rondo & Parker. Otherwise agree. 3rd - Not sure how strict the forward/center delineation is for all-NBA, if not strict, would put LMA or KG in over Gasol (Mark presumably) and/or Blake.
