@v_dombrovsky Thanks for the wishes. We've come a long way, yet a lot to do ahead. All the best with your money raising efforts. Hopefully travelatus and mygola and work together sometime in the future.

@Job Smulders there is just no end to how much feedback is enough. Personally, I feel very very greedy (yes, greedy) about what users have to say. There is no other way to orient yourself while building a business.
While we use olark and good old email to get feedback, our secret weapon right now is this fantastic service called Intercom. Super powerful way to keep in touch and help you users.

Felt like I was reading a real life version of Ender's Game.

Erin, great points here. I believe that social is a great feature when you have monetization figured out but not really a business. Tripadvisor is already doing fairly intelligent FB integration, and I am sure the wanderfly team will take these efforts further. Mapquest acquired Everlater to build a similar inspiration + discovery type service, Discover (subtle, right?). With their massive traffic, this should give them a piece of the social action. Yet, there are many many startups still in the fray - Caterina Fake's Findery comes to mind. Definitely tough times ahead for them. Infact, the only people who seem to be making money are Google/Tripadvisor at the top of the funnel and the inventory owners (Expedia, Priceline etc) at the bottom of the funnel.
I've been focussed on the travel planning space for the last 3 years, since I founded mygola.com . This fallout is not a new phenomenon. This exact same phenomenon played out in '09-'10. TravelMuse, GoPlanit, Localyte, Nileguide...have all disappeared or about to. This is dead startup land!
Yet, reports after reports keep talking about how frustrated the average traveler is. Thats something that I am betting on solving with a new product that the @mygola team is working on right now, still in closed beta. Our unique insight is that itineraries is a powerful construct, that nobody has really developed. It's something that the traveler cares for while research, planning, while they are traveling and even when they are back and are sharing their travel stories. This is especially surprising since Tripit validated this to an extent but then got acquired by Concur. I think only time will tell if we are incredibly smart or stupid :)
I think @nickfarina shares some of this belief as well. He and the Jetzet team are doing some really interesting work for the enterprise in this area.

Kym, its Salman Khan & not Kahn - from Bangladesh, not Germany :). The academy is also Khan Academy.
