Welcome - that's what I remembered, but I couldn't recall if it had ever been proven...

LMAO - I know that back in the day there was a difference in the feel / stickiness between white and black stick tape although these days I would assume its cosmetic. The pads contrast between light and dark gives the optical illusion of being open when it's not and was initially used to confuse shooters for the 5 hole or at least that's what my old goalie told me back in the dark ages... With all the experts on everything I am a bit shocked that Hank doesn't have some hi tech camouflage company helping do some sort of mind meld to psych out the opposing shooters!
What are the optical implications - there used to be a lot of talk about how various shapes / colors deceived or tempted teams to shoot at the pads thinking there was a gap there wasn't?

Hmm interesting... I thought that everyone was all caught up in having MSL on a line with a right handed shot? I think our only top 6 or likely top 9 right handed shot is step... I think that even in a slow decline MSL is still our biggest scoring threat and should be given the support to continue as such. Nash is a power forward when he plays up to his potential, but I believe MSL is more likely to be our scoring leader this season. Wouldn't allowing Nash to move back to his prefered LW spot also hopefully help jump start his confidence? Who do you suggest centering for a hags MSL line? Brass has show chemistry in the past with Nash and since MSL and Zucc are such similar players I am sure that they should click. Zucc has shown an uncanny ability to be effective with any line he's been on, but do you think splitting him from brass makes sense with the sustained chemistry that they have shown? Obviously all hypothesis, but it will be interesting to see if av opts for a more traditional line break down or tries to recreate the somewhat more balanced approach of last season.

Agree we don't want the midget line reunited - too easy for them to get out muscled. That being said I would flip Kreider and Nash, but otherwise good lines and unless Kreider struggles hags will be a 3rd liner.

@MidwestNYR Agree completely!
Nash - Step - MSL
Kreider - Brass - Zucc
Hags - JT - Stempniak
Glass - Dom - Fast

@KevinTheNYRBlog @JMK8363 Oh I am hoping too... just not seeing anything to warrant the money let alone the term. That being said I was skeptical of Arneil, poops, car bomb etc last year so hopefully the brain trust actually does know hockey better than the armchair coaches! LGR!!!

I suspect that he will sign in January for a pre agreed upon amount that will likely be significantly lower than if he were to wait until free agency. Zucca rules!!!

I've been suggesting for a while that having MSL on the top line makes more sense as he is likely to work better with step a right handed shot and hopefully jumpstart Nash in the process. Kreider actually fits in much better with brass and Zucc and adds both much needed size as well as finish ability. Zucc plays both wings and although listed as a LW played most of last season as a RW.
MZA showing professional athletes how to act the world over! Zucca - FTW - LGR!!!

Brass is going to need to step up big as a true number two center, but production wise I agree although only one full season MZA still deserves more than brass.

Even if the new Boyle turns out to be a boil on slats ass at least it's only a two year deal! Slats is clearly looking at signing our RFAs and although I am sure he will low ball and try to force bridge deals etc hopefully they will be the core of the team for years to come. All we have to worry about is some big time wheeling and dealing to TRADE for an aging over the hill over paid marquee player to try and make Nash look good... LGR!

Why on earth would we sign glass for 3 and Dom for two?!?
1 month ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
I agree that Kreider is improving and will be a top line winger; however, I disagree that MSL has declined to a second line player. He still puts up far more points than Nash is likely to ever put up and although declineing he is still more dangerous than Nash. Also with his playmaking ability hopefully he can jumpstart Nash and make him more than a overpaid pk'er! Keeping Nash on the top line with step and Kreider and and having MSL play with who JT, Lindberg, (Dom or boiler if they are still here), or do you suggest breaking up MZA and brass? As of now we don't have a viable 2/3 playmaking center. Unless we get a viable playmaking center having MSL play with anyone other than our top center seems like a waste of talent! Dom filled in well on a temp basis, but he and at this point any of the other possible centers in the system leave something to be desired.
I think that poops although he has his downsides (stupid penalties) still has tremendous upside in the short term and a 2-3 year deal at a slightly lower cap hit say 2-2.5 could be a real bargain. That being said I would like to see Kreider step into that line as a true second line and have MSL on the top line where he belongs!
Ritchie getting almost two minutes on pp was mind boggling - HUGE liability and exemplified arniels inability to adapt!

Can someone, anyone, please explain to me how on earth the coaches feel Ritchie has earned a full two minutes on the PP?!?

Nash may coast by the crease, but I can't recall him parking himself in front very often... Although with Kreider back it's not as key. I could be mistaken though. He also rarely seems to be getting behind the D and getting his power rush going although a lot of that can be attributed to D focusing on him more. Notice that the PP had looked better with Kreider on it than Nash... Let's hope the team is focused on winning and gets the ultimate retribution on the Habs - Let's Go Rangers!!!!

What an absolutely novel concept - I am amazed that they haven't figured this out before - crashing the net, getting a screen in front... Why haven't we suggested they do this previously?!? Yes sarcasm - it's amazing how we the fans, the coaches, and in theory the players themselves KNOW what to do but without fail slowly move away from it and work the perimeter. Nash is regrettably a prime offender - he has shown he can be effective when crashing the net, but shies away from it more than any other player on the team!
Sort of like scratching Ritchie last year....
Come on LA you need to make this a brutal OT filled 7 game series!

Long live Kreider the Beast - may he show up EVERY game - Let's GO Rangers!!!
A lot of the lack of production was more from poops penalties than a lack of performance / chemistry. They still had some good looks but limited ice time and Zucc did score in game one. Agree Brass is the better fit but also that Dom stepped up big time!

That's not Nash, Nash would have fallen down...
Apparently sully is back and we need to start declining penalties again!!!
Stars already have t times scheduled - from bad to worse!!!
Malkin is a skilled Matt Cooke - pure cheapshot cocksuckers!!!
Drop the puck already!!!
We can only hope!!!!
Great so who gets lost to a season ending knee injury?!?
When was the last power drive with a shot... He's coming in slow and can't power through, and without support from his linemates he simply turns the puck over.
