@Hustle Westbrook Morrow Faction Tony Allen was a pretty darn good offensive player in college.  16 ppg his last season on over 50% shooting.

Andre Roberson scored way less and was less efficient.  He did rebound better though.

They might be similar as shooters, but Tony Allen was a way more accomplished scorer than Roberson coming into the league.  Maybe Roberson can make up for some of this with giving the team more chances on the offensive boards.

@nasama @Zach99 I would put him in the 7-9 million range with those other guys.  He is young and his 3 point shot has been improving.  If he can be reliable from deep this year and still attack like he has in the past, he could be worth the top end of that scale.

If he can play and defend the 2 guard position adequately, he also has more value in my mind.

Comparing Reggie Jackson's situation to Gordon Hayward and Chandler Parson's is just plain wrong.

Unfortunately for Jackson, he plays point guard at a time in the NBA when point guard is the strongest position by a mile.

Kyle Lowry is the very top of the top end for Jackson.  He signed for 12 million to stay in Toronto.  He is pretty clearly a better player than Jackson unless he takes another major leap this year.

Other point guards comparable to him like Monta Ellis, Jeff Teague, Jrue Holliday, Mike Conley all making in the 7-9 million range.

We seriously need to compare apples to apples when we are looking at how much Reggie will get paid.  Its a supply and demand game and unfortunately for Jackson the supply of good point guards in the NBA is at an all time high.

@harmlesslyfatal @Zach99 You have pretty damn low standards for Heisman trophy winners then.

If that was an average game for Winston this year.  He won't be close to going back to New York for the Heisman ceremony.

People have a ton of yards in college football.  He was not very good at all.  Bad decisions.  Did not look like a Heisman trophy winner.  OSU defense had a lot to do with it.

That is my point if you disagree fine, but you cannot look at the guy who was voted the best player in college football last year the same way you do any other player

I did not say he was shut down, but he was not good at all in my opinion.

His only touchdown pass was into tons of traffic could easily have been intercepted.  His touchdown run was about a tenth of a second from being a fumble for a touchback.

He threw 2 picks.  He was not good.

Is extend and trade still an option in the NBA today?  Like if we decided to trade Reggie Jackson to a situation he was happy in, could we extend his contract as part of the process?

It is the worst shot in the game for the average basketball player, but Serge is far far beyond average at those mid range jumpers.

Keep em coming Serge.

The whole big market small market thing is way over blown these days.  Mattered in the past, gets less important every year.

@okcjim   Our offense was seventh in the league last year with KD and Russ on the team.  That is not ok to me.

And now our starting line up is getting worse offensively.

We were ok when we had a defensive specialist shooting the 3 ok a year ago.  Thabo falling off a cliff hurt this team offensively.  Roberson cannot even make a free throw...

How many three and D guys do you know that cannot make free throws?

Being seventh in the league with 2 of the top 5 or 6 scorers in the league on the team should not be acceptable.

@L0rv @Zach99 Could work I guess.  We have all seen those games when the bad team makes everything and the good team takes a lot of outside shots that don't fall.

This US team has really good shooting overall though.  A few years ago, team USA's biggest weakness was its shooting, but they have definately fixed that recently.

I think it is not a good gamble at all.

The problem with zone defense is you almost have to give something up.  If you want to protect the paint, you have to pack the zone inside and leave yourself open on the perimeter.

If you want to guard the perimeter, you have to stretch the zone.  This leaves big gaps in the defense that are begging to be attacked.

I just don't see it as being useful against a team with shooters who can also attack the basket.  USA has that in abundance with KD, Harden, Curry, Kyrie.

A bad team might try the pack it in strategy and just hope that the US shooters have a bad day, but I really don't see this as a long term strategy for success.

@L0rv Tough to play a box and 1 when you are dealing with shooters like Curry, Korver, Thompson and Harden at the other spots.

Just having a couple of those guys on the floor would stretch that zone so much.

@harmlesslyfatal http://westbrookframes.com/ @The McAdams Bros This is crazy talk... most teams start their best players and just stagger rotations a bit.

Can just start Reggie then pull him after 7 minutes or so.  Russ plays whole first quarter.  Reggie gets a five minute breather in the first and comes back to start the second and still lead the bench mob.

Starting Reggie and still having a good scorer with the bench is not even challenging.  This argument is silly.
