Id rather be like the Spurs and contend for titles (and hopefully win our fair share) for 10-15 years.

My hope is that the media annoys KD so much that he signs an extension with OKC on the first possible day just to shut those jack asses up.

@Dominator To be fair, Heustis will be the very first player who would be stashed domestically.  Probably a fair assumption from them that he would be on the team when he was signed in the first round.

@L0rv @Zach99 Could work I guess.  We have all seen those games when the bad team makes everything and the good team takes a lot of outside shots that don't fall.

This US team has really good shooting overall though.  A few years ago, team USA's biggest weakness was its shooting, but they have definately fixed that recently.

I think it is not a good gamble at all.

The problem with zone defense is you almost have to give something up.  If you want to protect the paint, you have to pack the zone inside and leave yourself open on the perimeter.

If you want to guard the perimeter, you have to stretch the zone.  This leaves big gaps in the defense that are begging to be attacked.

I just don't see it as being useful against a team with shooters who can also attack the basket.  USA has that in abundance with KD, Harden, Curry, Kyrie.

A bad team might try the pack it in strategy and just hope that the US shooters have a bad day, but I really don't see this as a long term strategy for success.

@L0rv Tough to play a box and 1 when you are dealing with shooters like Curry, Korver, Thompson and Harden at the other spots.

Just having a couple of those guys on the floor would stretch that zone so much.

@Pancakes and Blouses  @Lost Ones Seems simple to me.  They like his potential.  They want him to develop.  They want to be a big part directly in his development.  They don't want him on the 15 man roster yet.

@harmlesslyfatal http://westbrookframes.com/ @The McAdams Bros This is crazy talk... most teams start their best players and just stagger rotations a bit.

Can just start Reggie then pull him after 7 minutes or so.  Russ plays whole first quarter.  Reggie gets a five minute breather in the first and comes back to start the second and still lead the bench mob.

Starting Reggie and still having a good scorer with the bench is not even challenging.  This argument is silly.

I look at the Telfair signing as a no risk gamble.  Is the guy finally healthy and in a position where he can play a little?  Great.  Put him in there for a few minutes a game.

If he can't play, he is what Royal Ivey was a couple of years ago at the vet minimum.

This obsession with this signing is very strange from some of you all.

You cannot compare Russ to KD seriously.  He is a transcendent talent in this league. Every defense gears up to stop him every night and he still does his business effeciently every night.

There is only one fair comparison for KD and the is LeBron James.  Everyone else is not in the discussion.

Milwaukee was a dumpster fire last year.  I am pretty sure they spent a large portion of the season with a very small number of actual NBA players in games.  I would look to give him a shot in a better environment

Lamb is not a brilliantly creative offensive player.  He is much better playing with players who are.  KD, Russ and Reggie are the only creative players on this team.  The more of them he plays with, the more open shots he gets, the easier driving lanes he has.  Everything is easier when you play with players that can create.

Read somewhere that he has a bit of a post up game too.  1.17 points per possession in the post, mostly on fade away jumpers.  Not bad at all.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do.  Does he have any chance to start or he going to continue to be the instant offense guy he has always been off the bench?
