This episode was terrific. A strong character piece w great performances. It gives you just a little peek of who the Doctor is or was without ruining any of the mystery.

This would be cool. It would also help stop people complaining about Clara being so "devil-may-care" about stuff.

Man, people do NOT like "Rings." Maybe I'm missing something, but it seemed like a fairly average episode at worst. Matt was given some terrific dialogue to play with (and I'm not just talking about his speech at the end).

None of these are particular surprising.

However, I do have a soft spot for WoRS -- Emperor Churchill, live Chess, Head Dorium, and Mark Gatiss as a treacherous viking who gets eaten by skulls? There are a lot of ideas here that are hard not to love. If you broke them down into separate episodes, they could be pretty fun. The actual marriage, on the other hand, was disappointing to me.

This looks fun. I hope they go with a swashbuckling tone this episode.

I agree with Smith. I do think I look on Season 6 a little too harshly, but that was because Season 5 was practically a perfect season with a consistent tone and a simply fairytale-esque story at its heart, one where the Doctor helps a frightened, young girl.

Eh. I can understand both sides. I personally found it enjoyable and it made me enjoy the Daleks again. Not Moffat's best, but definitely not his worst. I do agree about Special Weapons Dalek. Such a waste of potential.

I like the idea of the character but wish she was given more depth. There's something golden about the concept of a Ms.Peel meets Catwoman companion.

Eh, I don't really want a dark end and another Time Lord Victorious (even though it was dropped suddenly next episode). I want Capaldi to be more like the elderly folks I worked with at the Pioneer Home -- crabby and disarming at first, but as you get to know them they become more delightful and you see how caring they really are.

The Name of the Doctor WAS terrific, exciting, and inventive. However, the Big Bang was all that AND playful. No big bad, just the threat of time ending -- the finale happened last episode, so now it's time to have all the characters put the pieces back together. And it's one of the rare happy ending episodes. It was oh, so nice.

@Polyphase @Bert_MacklinThat's fair, that was a joke that fell flat. The playfulness that was present in that episode was quite enjoyable though imo.

You kind of got me thinking, does the BBC still have a copy of Stephen Fry's script? Why not have him tweak it and (finally) shoot it?

I'm ecstatic that Gareth Roberts is coming back. I'm excited to see what kind of humor he can get of Capaldi's (seemingly) cranky Doctor.

Personally, I'd like Human Nature to win. That was one hell of a two-parter. However I will be voting for my guilty pleasure -- Let's Kill Hitler, the episode with some Grant Morrison zaniness and my favorite Moffat dialogue. *runs from angry fans*

I like this. That would definitely be nice for the actors who play the Doctor as it would allow them a more relaxed schedule. Maybe it could be like Brian Clevinger's excellent Atomic Robo comics, where a villain causes trouble for our heroes in multiple timelines.

@Polyphase @Bert_MacklinNot really since it came out. The story felt predictable and the characters felt flat. But again, I haven't seen it since it came out.

As long as the winner isn't 'The Curse of the Black Spot' I'm fine. No offense to Mr. Thompson, I'm sure there were budget issues, but I'm surprised team Moffat could screw up the concept of "Doctor Who meets Pirates."

I'll be surprised if School Reunion doesn't win, although ATCM is getting a lot of love. I don't think I've watched the full episode yet.

Aw yiss..the series that made me love this show. Those were some good times. A little silly and less cosmic Kirby-ness than I had hoped when I saw the previews, but when you destroy the world in the second episode, you know you've found something special.

Hmm. Well, if you can bring the sense of fun you gave us with 'Crimson Horror' and your recent Sherlock episodes, I'm for it, Mister Gatiss. As for Jane Austen... I don't know. Could be fun, but I'd rather he'd write a more Lovecraft-ian tale.

I voted for Impossible Astronaut, what I considered to be the creative high-point of the Moffat-Smith-Pond era. Just coming off a nearly flawless season and awesome Christmas special to one of the more mind-blowing episodes I had seen in a while. I wish the rest of S06 was that good.
