Cap number is $69 million instead of expected $71. This is probably a reaction to that.

We got this. Whether it's tonight or Saturday. There are no ghosts in the Bell Centre. They've never won anything there. The ghosts died with the Forum.

Anyone who doesn't want to sign Stastny after we buyout Richards hasn't been watching the Avs vs Wild series. Colorado would be done without him. Too bad McKinnon won't ever be available. Kid's gonna be a superstar....

MSL had a nine game goalless stretch in Tampa earlier this season. He'll be fine. I'd rather he be cold for his first 8 games and not his last 8.

Brooks is a hack. He never gets anything first, but he'll try to take credit for another writer's scoop after the fact. He's a master of sports fiction.

@CJ The first thing I said was 6 million is too much. I'm speaking from the point of view as if it's a done deal already.
6 months ago on Rangers, Callahan Inching Towards Contract Agreement
@dsclaw88 @Neans@CJIt was a more violent era with much more hitting and actual hip checks.
@CJ @NeansI think you're underrating his skill level. He's not likely to be saddled with Richards as his center after this year. I agree that he may have to slow down on the hitting as he ages, but he won't even be 30 for 2 more years. Chris Chelios hit everything that moved and he played until he was 46.
@Satchbog @NeansI don't think re-signing Cally makes us miss the playoffs. Not sure who you think we would have gotten for him that would've made us better this year either.
Is 6 million too much? Yes, but he's entering the years where most players reach their prime - late 20's to early 30's. And all the injury prone talk is simply not true. In the last 5 seasons, he missed 22 games in 2011-2012, but in the other 4 seasons he missed 6, 5, 3 and 1 games. Only 5 Rangers have played in every game this season and we still have 20 games to go. For all the talk of this team not being physical enough - who hits more opponents than Cally? I'm happy to have a player who regulars scores 20+ goals, is physical, defensively responsible, kills penalties and leads by example with his effort.
Good. I'm making a road trip to see NYR in Minnesota next week and I would love to see Uncle Daddy in the net for that one.

There's a decent chance we could play each other in the first round. That's the likely reason for the scouts.

Kreider said in the post game that he was trying to bank it in off Miller but he thought that even if it didn't work, the puck would probably sit there and we had 2 guys by the net. He also said that he's tried that before a few times but this was the first time it worked.

Garrioch is the Canadian Larry Brooks. You can't believe anything he says.

No way in hell Carolina makes the playoffs and Ottawa doesn't. I think the Sens are a legit Cup contender if they stay healthy.

I don't deny that Del Zotto has talent, the problem is in his head. To put it bluntly, I think he's not the sharpest crayon in the box and just doesn't have the capacity to play intelligent hockey. He makes 2 big mistakes for every good play. I figure he can do less damage on the 3rd pair.

Flip Del Zotto and Moore too. I would still like to see Moore on the PP point ahead of Richards or Girardi.
I agree with most of what you said, but I thought Fast was clearly better than Hrivik or Lindberg. I could see him making the team over Kreider. Not saying he will, but I wouldn't be shocked. He was responsible defensively and made some good plays in the offensive zone. Kreider was up and down as he's been all preseason.

That might make more sense later in the year when we're closer to Hartford but we're much more likely to need that extra forward than 2 extra D while we're out west to start the year.
11 months, 1 week ago on Rangers vs. Kings in Las Vegas (Preseason Game 6)
I think AV has handled preseason the right way. I could care less if we went 6-0 or 0-6 in games that don't count. The important thing is finding out what we have, especially when we have a new coaching staff. The Kings rolled out their opening night roster tonight more or less and we didn't use any of our top 3 defenseman, our #1 center, our captain and #2 right wing, our 2nd best center, Zuccarello, etc, etc. If we had lost this game 8-0 I wouldn't be concerned. If we suck next week, then I'll worry.
Has anyone heard an explanation as to why AV wants to keep 2 extra D instead of 2 extra forwards? Doesn't make sense to me. You're not gonna even use the the 7th guy unless one of the top six gets hurt, so why would you need an 8th. We have a lot more questions at forward.

Of course he's "unlikely" -he's still unsigned. This means nothing. Still plenty of time.

I was at the Jeffrey Maier game against the Orioles in 1996. I was sitting in left field so we had no idea what had happened until after the game. It looked looked legit from where I was sitting. Was also at the first Matteau double overtime winner against he Devils in 1994 (Game 3). A lot of people had left so we were able to move down to the second row. That was awesome.

They should rest Cally tomorrow and make sure that hand's as good as possible for the playoffs. Let Miller get another game in. If someone gets hurt we may need him down the line, so why not let him get another game under his belt.

Great game, one of the best we've played all year, but if we can't follow it up with a similar effort it won't mean much. I'm optimistic, mostly because we we're pushing as hard in the last 5 minutes as we were the whole game before that. If we look as good on Friday, then I'll believe we've started to come together.

Hamrlik is not just a fix for Staal. Another d-man could go down at anytime and I don't ever want to see Bickel getting significant minutes.

Hank's not the problem. We're 4-1 when we score at least 2 goals. Scoring is the issue.
