@Amnesty Perkins @Legendary_Dork Fortunately for them everything about Seattle is better than everything about Oklahoma City.
@Militoni21 @WaltFreezer Are you in English lit?
@Militoni21 What a trained eye you have to spot the deficiency in Scott Brooks. Have you considered a career in reading billboards along the side of the road?
@Militoni21 You think there are better coaches? Do you also think the Pope is a Catholic?
@FallenOSIRIS wrong.
@kfmsooner Brooks sucks. Sloan is an excellent coach. Big difference.
@Lasch @PerkPush-ups Wrong.
@Fuzzy Logic good point.
@MostJadedGamer @FallenOSIRIS Wrong.
This is spot on. The basic key is that Scott Brooks is the problem. There are roughly 29 coaches in the NBA better than Brooks at actually coaching basketball. I'll give him the win over Vinny Del Negro. It's easy to sit on Durant and Westbrook and (previously) Harden and get decent results, but Brooks largely minimizes what is an incredibly talented group. Remove Brooks and this is still a championship contender, Westbrook or no Westbrook. And I love Westbrook.
Scott Brooks would not win a knife fight if he brought a gun.
@Bry Bry @DurantBleedsChuckNorris
Rather long championship window? That left the day Harden went out the door. They'll be lucky to get past Memphis, they definitely aren't winning the West this year. And they aren't even in the same area code as the Heat, as currently constructed. Russ returning next year makes them the Western Conference favorites again, but they aren't some lock to continue to make the Finals unless both stars stay healthy.
Of COURSE it is Brooks' fault and has been for years. For absolutely everything that Presti has done right, loyalty to a well-below-mediocre coach has been the giant thorn in the Thunder's side.
You're an idiot.
Not a scoring problem. Just only a few guys who are good at scoring. I phrased it wrong. Maybe ibaka better this year. Maybe PJ3 or Maynor? KD and Russ need help from rest of team. Feel like they lost the leg to a chair. Still be good, but not title good.
First big mistake by Presti. Cost Thunder a legit title run. Harden a star - deserves to get paid like one. Quibbling over 6 mil, team should have bit the bullet - kept championship nucleus together. Finals notwithstanding, Harden a 23 yr old stud with high ceiling and good two way player. Martin a huge downgrade defensively and iq wise. Lamb? Maybe in 2 years. Okc has tough time scoring: see brooks, Scott. Just got tougher. Chemistry just got muddled. Spurs/Clippers/Nuggets just ascended to OKC level. Thunder clearly below the Lakers now.
Seventh grader wearing a 69 jersey. What a tool.
This is the absolute truth. Brooks is a great story, he's a good guy, he means well, but he doesn't have "it". And he cost them Game 3 of the Finals by the ridiculous decision to bench Russell. Even in the first quarter, when Russ missed his first 3 shots, you could see Russ shrink back into a shell a little when he had some terrific scoring chances. With the Heat pressing Durant hard and fronting him at the high post, Russ could have made a huge impact with his aggressive play. Instead he looked like a dog who had been kicked (rare for Russ, who has a healthy self-belief). Shame. The Thunder haven't played well yet in the Finals and yet they've had a chance to win all 3 games. They are clearly the better team when they are clicking, and should still beat the Heat in 6 or 7 games. But if they don't, it will be because Brooks stuck with his big lineup, and didn't trust Russell enough to go win them a title.
What the f*** is Kelly Dwyer talking about? Arrogant hugs? Give me a break. Go back to writing puff pieces for SI
@ejwestksu @bertfan "better" and "younger and more talented" are synonyms. The Thunder do have better individual talent than SA. Unfortunately they have a short, unimpressive coach leading the way.
