I wish they would pick two of us each month. This chatter would be overflowing!

@ScottMohnkern No but they will e-mail the awardees. It would be nice if they posted it on this website.
@vlyman Yes a year is a long time to wait. It might take me that long to get a good grip on twitter! I keep forgetting my password!
@DMaxMJ @ScottMohnkern You brat! I knew you would be one of the winners! Good for you! Did they send you an e-mail? Or are you just kidding!?! Soft spoken? Not you! Congrats though, truly!
@ScottMohnkern I just read the application again. They will be selected on a rolling basis, another words, ongoing throughout the year. They will notify the applicants they are interested in by e-mail. You only have 3 days to reply so watch your e-mail everyone and good luck! Wish I was on that train right now!
That's a good question. I will review the application again. It would be nice if they e-mailed all of the applicants 2 winners each month and posted them on Livefyre.
@DebbieLannen Can you imagine if they would pick two of us each month this chatter would be overflowing!
@DebbieLannen I don't know either. I was going to go back to the application and see if it said anything about when they will let us know but I never did it. I was disappointed when I realized the deadline ends 3-31-2015! I thought it was 2014! So I guess they can let us know next year! I was hoping they would choose two a month or something. Guess not. It was so exciting there for awhile! Now it's ....boring. We are so use to instant results. Wish we could microwave this literary hatching!
@vlyman @DenisePikolycky @momonroe44 I did the same thing. Yes you can resubmit. You have to send them an e-mail at social@Amtrak.com letting them know you want to delete that one and to keep the new one. Make sure you include titles and dates if possible. Good luck!

@momonroe44 Well the contest doesn't really end until March 31st 2015. That's a whole year away. I was just hoping they would select 2 each month or something like that. I don't remember reading the selection process.
@DMaxMJ @DenisePikolycky Your daughter seems to have your humor then. What other habits of yours does she admire? Its hard to be a parent. We have to set examples without squashing that creativity.
If you have submitted two applications you need to withdraw one. Email Amtrak at social@Amtrak.com and let them know which one to delete and which one to keep. Good Luck!

@daven ralston @DenisePikolycky @CarolWilletteBachofner Yes, if you have submitted more than one application, you have to email them at social@Amtrak.com and let them know which application to withdraw and which one to keep. Good Luck!
I don't recall them telling us when they will announce the 24 lucky winners. It might have been in the application details.
@PeterJoseph Wow that would be fun!
@CarolWilletteBachofner I just reapplied. But if you do you have to email them and tell them which application you want them to keep. I was hoping the 3-31-2015 date was a typo! Plenty of time to submit an application. No need to rush it in and make mistakes or have second thoughts.
@SusanTuttle1 @DenisePikolycky @PeggyDover @DMaxMJ @RickPawlenty @ Gwen @condawgdeuce I certainly hope none of the winners will be whining with an "h" but will be dining with wine instead! Now those at home can add that "h" to their wine!
@PeggyDover @DenisePikolycky @DMaxMJ @SusanTuttle1 @RickPawlenty @ Gwen @condawgdeuce
We'll just have a jolly good time and a lot more to write about!
@PeggyDover @DMaxMJ @SusanTuttle1 @RickPawlenty @DenisePikolycky @ Gwen @condawgdeuce Truly! Hope to see you there!
@DMaxMJ @SusanTuttle1 @PeggyDover @RickPawlenty @DenisePikolycky @ Gwen @condawgdeuce Well if we all signed up for the voluntary servitude of our choice in exchange for bread and water and a free ride, I don't mind bartering a few words for it! I hope you are right about the rolling time frame. I was disappointed about waiting an entire year.
@DMaxMJ I'm just a hopeful writer but I would enjoy reading your work.
@MagnoliaMoon @DMaxMJ Funny!
Arlo Guthrie is also famous because of it. Ride on!
@BrandonSeifert If you are selected, you have to sign something before you continue. They don't automatically take your work without that signature. You would get to discuss that with them. Meanwhile, I am not sure but I think the application process is over near the end of this month. I read it but I just don't remember the dates. They should be letting us know who is selected soon! It would be great if you or one of the authors who agrees with you could come up with rights that you would comply to. It might save everyone a lot of anxiety. They could take what you/we would be happy with and blend it in with what they have to have for their own protection. Win win?

@birdness @Amtrak Try email@example.com
@Achana I have a feeling they want to see you talking up Amtrak over the web. Maybe try starting a website you can use anonymously? What do other teachers do?

@SusanTuttle1 @DenisePikolycky @ Gwen Wonderful! Sooner sounds better!
@SusanTuttle1 @ Gwen Good for you! I imagine NJ will flood one of these days and maybe even wash away but I don't plan on moving.
@SusanTuttle1 @DenisePikolycky @ Gwen Would love to visit! I am putting Los Osos on my bucket list which I will start checking off in 5 years when I am 62! Does Amtrak have a scenic route through there?
@SusanTuttle1 @DenisePikolycky @ Gwen @condawgdeuce Interesting. I think the entries did close but I forget the exact date. Today?
@AyoMaso Yes that is scary. A lot of people agree with you from what I've read. I also see the advantage to advertising your work, your name as a writer when all this is said and done. I realize I am encouraging you to enter anyway, adding to the applicants, lessening my chances, but I have to be honest. I don't believe they are going to go publish your book. I think they are just going to use what they need for advertising this program. I believe if they trick us into sending them great work to publish and sell for themselves, that we really will get ticked off and get on this website and tell everyone! That hasn't happened yet that I can see. I am excited about this program and can't wait to see what happens!
@CarolWilletteBachofner @DenisePikolycky A few days ago they answered us because so many were asking. If you filled out your application and it went right back to the home page after you sent it, then your application was received by them. You don't need to reapply.
@ Gwen @condawgdeuce Thanks for the info. How does all of that translate into how many words we should send? I sent a very short story so I wasn't too worried about it. I will do some research and find out.
@SusanTuttle1 @ Gwen I could spend some time there!
@ Gwen @DenisePikolycky HA! Yes. Snow related issues!
@ Gwen Understood. As I began to answer you, the flakes got bigger and I just can't say I hate it! I have to go outside now and feed the horses. I remember a few years ago when it snowed so deep that I couldn't drive my truck to the barn to unload the hay. I had to use a plastic sled! I put the hay on the sled and pulled it to the barn one at a time. Thankfully my truck bed had a hard cover and there were only a few bales. This trick got me through that snow storm and the next one that followed right behind it. Of course living in South Jersey means we really don't get that much snow. I can still appreciate it. I do sympathize with others who get more snow more often.
Good morning everyone! I love snow but this year has just ....well you know what happens when you get too much of a good thing. I live in South Jersey and we have snow yet again today. I still can't hate it. It's just beautiful! I am sitting by the roaring woodstove fire, typing and gazing out of the picture window. The snow has been coming down since 8:00 last night at its after 8:30 am now. Every once in a while the wind blows gusts of white dust off of the roof and it swirls around like the golden numbers making Fibonacci proud. The roads are passable and we only have about 3 inches after all of this snowfall. I guess that's because it was 62 degrees on Saturday and the ground just wasn't cold enough. The road stayed clear for the longest time.
Yes, I'm a snow watcher. I really did get up twice in the middle of the early AM hours and turn on the spotlight to see if it was accumulating. This is a good snow. It covered the ground enough to hide blemishes and the dry brown grass of winter, but coated the bare branches and evergreens with pretty white stuff. Even the smallest trees' crevices have been decorated with a brush stroke of white and the evergreens are holding onto those lasts tufts of white cotton for this year. I hope! The entire view is decorated with the constant movement of falling flecks of white like a snow globe you never have to shake.
It's almost perfect. I just wish I was seeing this from an Amtrak train!
@RusteenHonardoost You are very welcome. A lot of us asked the same question. I can't wait! I find myself on the website all the time now. They have special trips on sale that I can almost afford! Nice info.
@CarolWilletteBachofner Well there are a lot of applicants and they only pick 24 near the end of March. Didn't really say when they would actually let us know, or when the trip itself starts. This is very exciting just being a part of it! I can actually picture myself typing away, looking at the scenery, and smiling a great big smile!
@ Gwen Now that you are going to be an e-twit like the rest of us, look how many friends you can have and prospective buyers for your story! I too was reluctant but thoroughly enjoy Facebook and see its potential for free advertising.
@RusteenHonardoost We all recently learned the answer! If you were returned to the home page after you hit submit, then it was submitted successfully.
@Amtrak Thank you for your clarification and this chance at a wonderful opportunity!
So there are 500 people listening? Prospective applicants I would say. Somewhere I read this was free! Did I miss something? Don't scare me! Although out of 500 people, to be selected will be a surprise! I did go on other sections of the website and found a way to e-mail Amtrak. Waiting for a response. Yes, I agree, getting back to the main screen without stopping you for more info. should mean a properly completed application.
@adamholtwrites not so far but they are selecting winners by the end of march maybe we will hear from them then.

@KingMidget @daneil Thanks! I feel better already. But how DO we know that they rec'd our application?
@MilesHoward good question. I sent an already published short story of mine that I published on Amazon.com for free by the way. Don't hesitate to try it. It was a little difficult at first. I did a short recipe book of mine just to try it out. I learned from that and then published 2 more books.
@daneil @AliceColey Thanks for that info., it does sound a little scary but if they use any of my work for anything at all I will be thrilled for the free advertising.
I am so excited. I want any of these trips, the 2 day, the 5 day, whichever I am selected for, I will be so happy! I have published on Amazon.com and it is almost easy. For any of you who haven't tried it, please check it out. I actually wrote a short recipe book just to try it out then published 2 more of my completed books within a half hour each. I am hoping to write a short story to promote travel by trains by writing about my tour,( if I get one!) and our local holiday tour train rides in my area. Can't wait!
