You are so right. At this time of year the conditioning factor is more important than the ability factor. Just saw a column at Vegasinsider.com about how the Caps and Rangers had yet another practice. Why the puck could not Torts just have let this team get off skates for three days? And if somehow they win, which is a major question, the Devils will be much more rested, as they will be for the Caps, too, if that is what shakes down.
I fear The Piper is about to call on Torts for his slave-driving methods, ongoing now, since September. All Torts knows is "intensity," he knows nothing about "pace." He would run the first mile of a Marathon in five minutes. All he knows are burn-out coaching methods and benching players for being imperfect human beings out there, at times. Sad, inexcusably sad, it is.

well, Torts treats him like the second-coming of Jason Krog, except Krog got more Power play time. Duby was getting PP minutes ahead of Hags. You all know that Torts is royally screwing up this playoff run for the Rangers, right? Five players logged over 40 minutes with one over 50 minutes in the marathon game, and if that's not stupid enough, Torts had them on skates and "practicing" 36 hours later. Torts is one big jack ass, but Washington has to love him.

Think about it, every day for these burned-out Rangers is a game day, a travel day, or practice day. Never any rest for the weary. Remember, Washington had three days before the Rangers series, the Rangers were right back at it, just two days after finishing off Ottawa. Somebody doesn' want the hockey team to outshine the NBA team in New York, starting with Bettman and the TV networks.

The problem I have with this loss is that this team figured to be flat, coming in, given that they had to practice (! the day before, and had no break following the Ottawa series, playing every other day, straight through. This coach just can''t let them have a day to rest, mind and body, so this is the predictable result. Just nuts, Torts, but that's who you are.
I am thinking that the Rangers have to be quietly saying to themselves that going all the way to Stanley Cup champagne is setting up nicely for them now, now that Pittsburgh, Boston, Detroit, Chicago, and Vancouver are gone for the summer. Not to overlook Philly, playing it's best hockey now, and with a score to settle with the Rangers; and St. Louis, which just wins like a well-oiled machine, but the Rangers have to be telling themselves that by beating Ottawa, they deserve to at lease be co-favorite with St. Louis to win it all.
Hags and Krieder can really help put this team over the top by stepping up and helping the struggling Gaborik's and Dubinsky's of the world. And if Gaborik and Dubinsky should wake up from their slumber, well, it could get really interesting around here.

You are right about Slats. Now he goes out and trades Hags and Kreider for Nash, as a favor to Butthole and the other NBA stockholders who come to work pretending to be "hockey guys."

Torts's season-long mistakes have come home to roost. Hags was never put on the PP - simply indefensible; Kreider is getting Jason Krog / Isbister minutes = how exciting it that? Blocking shots all year has worn this team down to a frazzle, when blocking shots is really the goalie's job. In effect, all this stupid shot-blocking amounts to is that the goalie is screened on most of the goals he allows.
Mitchell in not an NHL player, mabe, ummm Avery could have brought more pizazz, and even some production, starting with shots on goal, to playoff hockey.
Summation: Scotty Bowman would have made the right choices and would have won the Stanley Cup with this team, even with its defects.
Torts knows how to mis-deploy players with the best of them, starting with crapping all over Avery and giving Mitchell and Dubinsky, for Christ sake, more PP time than Hagelin, who doen't get PP time, and treating Kreider like he's the new Jason Krog addition to the roster. This team probably folds its tent, soon.

This burned-out team IS going to win the Stanley Cup, by rolling just three lines, NEVER giving Hags PP minutes, just a few seconds, here and there, treating Krieder like he's the new Isbister, and of course we know Mitchell is giving us light years more than Avery would have, game to game - right?
Pathetic, Torts, I mean we're talking Charlie Manuel Country when it comes to personnel mis-management.

@KevinDeLuryDubinsky and Boyle get PP minutes, Hags does not. That is insane! So the question is does Torts give Kreider dog house treatment like he's an Avery or a Hags, or treat him like a man and a professional hockey player?

So Hags is good enough to play on the first line, but not good enough to get 10 seconds PP time per week. Torts is a donkey.
What else is new? "Hagelin has taken over the last two games, and the PP sucks." Hagelin now has 11 ES and 2 PK goals and STILL this coach refuses to give him time! I am damn tired of being THE ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD to criticize this coach for his disgusting stupidity in not giving Hags PP time. Can somebody in the media take some smelling salts about this, or are you little lambs afraid of this blustery, prideful coach?

Put Hagelin on the PP and things will improve. Why is Torts such a complete jackass JERK about this?
