@Cameron19 @Yan28 @philthethrill Ok, not a bad idea. I am not sure Nonis would even do that though. This trade dealing we need to be sellers no matter where we stand.

@T K O I know that shit is getting really annoying. I think O Dog has a real problem and needs to look into it.

Toronto Maple Leafs should envy the Buffalo Sabres who are (at least) losing with a purpose

_____

The Leafs, who entered Tuesday night’s game against the Sabres tied for third-last place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 3-4-1 record, are clearly not good enough to win a Stanley Cup. But they are also not bad enough to get into the McDavid or Eichel sweepstakes.

They are everything you don’t want to be in a cap system: a bubble team with zero flexibility. And there is no indication that it is going to change.

There are nine Toronto players locked up until 2018 or beyond. That does not include the US$1.3-million that the team is paying Tim Gleason, who was bought out in the off-season, for each of the next four seasons. Or the money that is earmarked for Jonathan Bernier and Nazem Kadri, who are both due big raises as restricted free agents next summer.

In other words, don’t hold out hope that Jason Spezza, a pending unrestricted free agent, is coming to Toronto. Even if the Leafs wanted to sign him, there is no money. The team you see today will likely be the one you’ll see next season. And the one after that. And the one after that, and so on.

@Burtonboy @Yan28 Stop being sentimental and realize it's time to move on from the guy and if that's the only way it would take to see how the team would play without him then so be it.

@Burtonboy I was actually happy we might see him out of the line up for a while. Wanted to see how the team would play without him.

What's this stuff about not tanking cause we won't be bad enough to finish 1st? We can finish at the bottom 5 easily and there's game changers all over this draft.

The Leafs aren't selling their games out like they used to. Every game I get an email that seats are still available and not just singles like before, but doubles and etc... That's a terrific sign.

Makes me really respect this guy. From Friedman's 30 Thoughts.

7. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored the game winner against Tampa Bay and the game-tier versus Washington in back-to-back games. He’s got a much-improved shot. He’s stronger and made it a summer project. “Shot 100 pucks four times a week,” he said. “Shooting as hard as I can…High blocker, high glove, low glove, around the horn.” Didn’t think he could beat Ben Bishop from where he did, but Nugent-Hopkins said, “If I shot up high, the chances of beating him from that spot were pretty low….Besides, I like going low blocker or (low) glove.”

8. Nugent-Hopkins had an obvious goal for 2014-15: make the playoffs. His personal desire, however, is to become a 50-50 face-off man. Career numbers are 37.5 percent (2011-12), 41 percent (2012-13), 42.4 (2013-14) and 47.4 so far this season.

@sniperstar @Yan28 I wasn't a fan of Kadri in the past, but the way I look at it right now he's the best C on the team at the moment. I would trade Bozak as part of a package. Just want to break up the boyfriends Kessel and Bozak that shit is getting on my nerves already.

@sniperstar @Yan28 I am not pushing for a Kadri trade, just saying it's a waste to trade him for an older player.

3 days, 13 hours ago on Monday Mashup: Picking up where they left off

Kadri and Gardiner should only be moved out for other young players that might be more of a fit. Bozak, Phaneuf, Kessel and other players should be moved for picks and prospects. Don't give me who's gonna play in Dion's spot and take his minutes crap, doesn't matter cause the worse we finish the better.
