Fan since Jon Pertwee days. Favourite Doctors: 2 and 9
@YaelMoise @sontaran17 I think the trouble is that when you reel off a list which contains what are - in all honesty - very, very, very minor issues, then you do leave yourself exposed to being called a nit-picker and that you are looking for things to dislike. I am sure you are not and this is not the case - but on a fan site you are going to get a negative reaction when you put this kind of thing up. My instant reaction was actually the same - that if you come up with such a list of minor gripes, then maybe it's time to get a new show to watch. However, that is not the right call either.

@AndrewMedbury Now, I like the bit about the chalkboard. That's a good spot...
@TheBeast101 Indeed - but if it gives a bit of fun, then why not?
@Mikeyboss182 I seem to recall Moffatt wanted to give them a bit of a break - but Capaldi was so desperate to face the Daleks that he won! Of course - I could be wrong :)
@camelot55555 The timing of the Missy scene depends upon when the character who gives their life for the Doctor dies - in this episode it would not have worked at the end.
@YaelMoise Oh dear. Whatever.

@The_Jo_Dude @Amy says Peter Davison is the Thirteenth Doctor! And who could forget the thick Dalek in the first Doctor story "The Chase". There is a LOOOONG history of Daleks not being very Daleky.

@The_Jo_Dude @Amy says Peter Davison is the Thirteenth Doctor! Ahem - Evil of the Daleks. Daleks playing with trainsets. Second doctor. No, it hasn't just killed 51 years of history.
@The_Jo_Dude The first good Daleks appeared in the Patrick Troughton years in "Evil of the Daleks". Oh - then there was the "thick" Dalek in William Hartnell's "The Chase". No - I don't think that's just killed the 51 year history of the Doctor and the Daleks, but then that is just my personal view, isn't it?
@Trex in the Thames Night Terrors is one of my favourite Matt Smith stories - love it. Those dolls are so wonderfully creepy.

@DavidWilliamAppleby Of course you are right - but it happens every single time! Some of us enjoy watching the show and celebrating it, others also clearly enjoy watching it, but also seem to enjoy complaining and picking holes. They moaned about the 9th Doctor, the 10th, the 11th and now the 12th. It is the way of the world!

@Pipnant Nice theory!

@SteviePenny The view here is that it was the most enjoyed episode of the Moffatt era (with the possible exception of Day of the Doctor).
Can I score it 11 out of 10 please? AWESOME!!!!!!!
@DrunkenDalek Clara has bloomed, hasn't she. Absolutely fantastic development of her character - and Peter Capaldi was superb.
This is the best article ever!!! Statistics heaven!!!!!!!

@Antee991166 I agree on Time and the Rani - definitely at the bottom - it has almost no merit whatsoever, except the fact that it introduces Sylvester McCoy to us. I also have a strange regard for The Twin Dilemma, it has a charm of it's own . Having said that - yes, probably 10th of the 11....

Better not to explain it in my view. One of the most ridiculous - and unnecessary scenes in Doctor Who history was the attempt to explain Romana's new appearance in Destiny of the Daleks. There is simply no need. Virtually no casual viewers will even notice that he was in the show before - and the nerds like us will accept it as a curiosity - no more.
2 weeks, 3 days ago on Why Capaldi’s Previous Appearances Shouldn’t Really Matter
@The Questor I'm an old fart, who grew up during the Jon Pertwee era. One of my most special memories was watching Doctor Who during a power cut - on a black and white portable TV running off the car battery in our garage! You are right - anywhere is special, if you make it so.

@Polyphase @ilyootha counts Lungbarrow canon Surely people think of it as one long story as (a) that is how it went out - 14 episodes all called "Trial of a Timelord", and (b) Because the trial itself is one long story. The titles of the individual stories were never broadcast.

@The Living Angel Super Superheroes and Alieny Aliens work for me - and even more than that: aliens are BAD and EVIL and want to conquer the Universe because that's what aliens do. They're like that, aliens.

I was around when Day of the Daleks came out (oh dear). It was just so incredibly exciting. I do agree - a weakness of new Who is that it doesn't seem to have enough confidence in new monsters, particularly, I might add - in using them in the big-finales. Recently of course we did have The Silence, but then this year it was back to another oldie - The Great Intelligence. Time to promote one or two of the new monster, methinks. Having said that - Capaldi HAS to meet the Daleks....

Hey - I love it!!! I don't give a monkey's whether it' turns out to be true or not, or even if there are more holes in it than a Swiss Cheese - GREAT ARTICLE! It is always fun to come up with new ideas, and once in a while we get one right!

I still think the Shakri are coming back. The bogey men of the Time Lords. The search for Gallifrey. Seems to fit - could play a big part towards the end of series 8. Just a theory....

@The Outer Space K9 First time I saw Revelation (when it was originally on) - I loathed it - it was what put me off Doctor Who. Some real ham acting, a really annoying DJ throughout, and a weird plot.
Now - I love it - for exactly the same reasons!!

The formula is itself sexist because it looks at women talking about men, but not men talking about women. It should do both equally and impartially.
Then again - I am sexist as when choosing who I married, I ruled out 50% of the population on grounds of gender, so who am I to judge?
Then again, again - it seems like most of the girls at my son's school are sexist, because they keep talking about what dress they are going to wear at the prom.
It is patently a stupid test, and I begrudge it being given air time!!

@Tomb of the Cyberbob Err - I don't really think it's a great idea, by the way. Just felt someone should show some support for the author!!!! It is certainly an INTERESTING idea, and bravo to the author for having the courage to put it out.... but no, I don't think the theme should change :0)

Wonderful. As someone with a Statistical background myself, I doff my cap to you. I would just say that your "Abnormal Results" section does however highlight one thing - that there are lies, damned lies and statistics. But jovially putting that to one side, a hearty hurrah for an excellent article with some common sense conclusions!

@IamTheDoctorBasicallyRun In the words of The Face of Boe - "You are Not Alone". Everyone in our house dislikes this episode. Very annoying with all that squabbling. It seems to be a "love it or hate it" episode.

@ahunter8056 Err - yeh. me too. Sorry to go against the grain on this one. All a bit "Eastenders in Space" for me - lots of bickering and shouting and general nastiness. And a monster which makes you repeat what someone else says. I guess I'm not deep enough to understand ut!
@supermoff Night Terrors - imho, is an absolute gem of an episode - and a real highlight of it's series. I urge all you Night-Terror-Phobes to watch it again with an open mind!! :0)
4 months, 2 weeks ago on Series 1-7 Face-Off Results: Nightmare Run (Episodes 1-8)
@DasManiac Totally agree - when people argue things like this are "Plot Holes" then all I can think is they have such little imagination - there are so many possible explanations. Let's face it - Gallifrey was destroyed, but now that's back. In the early days The Daleks were destroyed after only the 2nd story, and when they re-appeared the simple explanation offered was "different period of time". We are no longer spoon fed such simple explanations, but it doesn't make it a plot hole.

A nice article. I would only take issue with your final statement that quantum locking wouldn't work. Clearly it would- because we've seen it on telly, and they're not allowed to lie. It's simply a case that we aren't clever enough to fully understand quantum locking yet. Our brains aren't powerful enough....
