Dish Network has had a similar dispute with Fox Sports South and the Atlanta Braves for the last two seasons. Some, but not all, of the Braves games are blacked out for customers in the metro Atlanta area only.

He deserves everything being written about him. But this is just the warm-up act for the A-Rod suspension.

@myoder84 Because beyond the First Take stuff, I really enjoy a lot of what you guys write about. Not a hater. :)

Dude...just change the channel if you hate First Take so much. I don't watch it but I don't care that they're expanding either.
The only thing more fascinating than watching the people who are obsessed with Tebow? Watching the people who are obsessed with hating on the networks who obsess over him. If you hate it so much, just change the channel. For reasons I personally don't understand, the fact remains that the man drives ratings.

@skaus @colinlord @bumpasaurus I'm not saying the situation doesn't suck and is incredibly stupid. If you're in a team's home territory and whatever network is supposed to air the game doesn't want to, it only would make sense that you should then get it online. Instead the sad world we live in is that if the A's regular station doesn't want to air it, we're SOL. The local stations can't stream the games online because...oh yeah...MLB.TV owns the rights. The same service that's blacking you out. The whole system sucks; the one point I was trying to make that MLB blackouts aren't the same as NFL blackouts. NFL blackouts are based on attendance. MLB blackouts aren't.
2 years, 6 months ago on MLB's blackout rules are so bad they are blacking out games from Japan | March
@bumpasaurus Right. MLB.TV's blackout policies have aren't there to try to make people go to games. They're there to either a) make you watch the game on your local affiliate so you see their ads or b) call and complain that your local affiliate isn't paying MLB for the rights to show the game
It's not like a national FSN network will "cure" ESPN of the problems constantly discussed on this site. It'll just be another channel with Tebow.

I think it's safe to say this topic has been driven into the ground.
